  1. Seats on cars are like teeth on people. They show age. That odometer has been inoperative for a while.
  2. So you think SYG muddies the waters? Are you not in favor of it? Anything specific in the KR case that you disagreed with? His case in all four encounters with those assholes was pretty solid if you ask me. KR didn't go there "looking for trouble" but he did come prepared. So did the thugs. IMO he actually came way more prepared and showed WAY MORE restraint than anyone in his case or situation. Not surprising that their backgrounds were as colorful as could be. Pretty clear that such behaviors aren't race specific as the media likes to paint people thinking they are. We know they aren't.
  3. TDS is real. It has infected many here it seems. Seriously Phil, enough with Trump. He's no longer in office. People who supported him likely never supported HIM, but rather is pretty straight forward approach and more than that, his policies. I'm one of them. He was never "my guy" but his focus on America First and no bullshit approach on many issues was and still is what we need. Everything has rabbit holes so no need to go down one.
  4. I think the point he's making is we should hold others just like them who were NOT held accountable by Kyle that night to the same standard. Let's see if the DOJ uses that same technology, drone video and vigor that they are using for Jan 6th to go after the ilk that burned Kenosha that week. No but he didn't use deadly force to stop people from damaging vehicles. He used the fire extinguisher for that.
  5. I have been off a few weekends and will continue to slow the corrections as I enjoy the holidays, but here's one from a few weekends back. This Ceramic Saturday Feature was a referral from a previous detail and is of a beautiful 2003 Porsche in Basalt Black Metallic. The owner picked up the car this year and found a nicely featured low 53k mile copy with the IMS completed and no paint or body work to be found. It was loaded with swirls and water spots that we so bad even the glass was etched. All fixable and all on the table to get corrected. This go-round, as with any vehicle I see over 7yrs of age, I call it more a paint preservation vs paint correction. I don't chase every scratch but it typically does result in 95%+ correction and this was no exception. It turned out beautifully and is sealed up with a dual layer ceramic coating including both sets of wheels, one of which will be used for winter tires being installed this week. Trim was restored to original deep dark black and the glass was then ceramic coated all around as well. The extra set of wheels have been cleaned up but the faces only coated. Barrels have seen better days and the owner is simply going to use them for a set of winter rubber being mounted. Many thanks to my friends, specifically Tom on this one, for the continued referrals including this one and to the owners who continue to trust in my work. I'm VERY happy to see this nearly 19yr old Carerra 4S now look nearly new and ready to put more smiles on the face of it's owner.
  6. What say you and based on what details? Curious.
  7. I can see Doc driving the Limo version
  8. What I'm reading here is that some believe the law and legal interpretation and legal precedence determines what is real information and then in-turn notes that opinions are NOT real information and instead are the misinformation. So it all boils down to who interprets what and does their interpretation make things real or bullshit. Some side with the laws and some side with their own raw interpretation of the original founding documents. I wouldn't exactly say that believing the latter means everyone has been wrong of over 200 years. I would say each side seems to think they are right and both are depending on what lens the information is viewed through. Lots of people do more than just meet both sides halfway, many on both sides are all-in on one or the other view.
  9. This weekend's Ceramic Saturday was for another friend of mine that I worked with years ago. He's super busy and has been juggling schedules with me for over one year to get his now no longer really new-to-him Audi Detailed. It's a very cool and relatively low mile car for its age. By cool, I mean very cool nearly $90-100k car when sold new. Truly a superb cruiser and personal limo. This 2010 Audi A8L 4.2l V8 finished in Emerald Black Metallic was at the time one of the coolest luxury cruisers and really still is. It was just in need of some love to remove years of car wash swirls and to restore the clarity to the paint. German Brands have fairly tough paint thus need more "correction" than most typical brands to make them look new again. This one was no exception. The goals here were to greatly reduce to near eliminate the swirls and lock in the results with a nice Ceramic Coating. Correction is in the area of 90-95% with a Major reduction in the swirls and complete removal in most areas. Too bad mother nature didn't grant me some sunshine to capture the metallic flake showing through. The paint, trim, wheels, and all the glass, including the pano roof, are now protected with one of my favorite Ceramic Coatings that should prove to keep this mile-long black beauty in great and make cleaning much easier. Here's to another 85k miles of looking good fun with this beauty. No, Moo-Moo and other Automatic Brush or "soft touch" (NOT!) Car Washes are not your friend.
  10. His initial asking price was like any of us would do in today's market, high. By what standards? the market average, but it's a slim market of comparable out there to bench mark from too. He started off in the 20's but quickly realized that wasn't going to happen. His legit real-world expectation price was in the mid teens. I'll leave it that they are very happy with the eventual auction results and got more than they expected.
  11. LOL! 415 post and this is the only one worth 5 minutes.
  12. So this week's Ceramic Saturday was another referral from CR's own Nick Boyd. This nearly 8 year old 2014 Acura RDX finished in Crystal Black Pearl, has just over 90k miles on it, and was beginning to show its age. The owner Joe, also a CR Member, mechanic and car enthusiast, purchased this vehicle a little over one year ago for his wife and while it is nice, it just wasn't living up to the look he wanted his wife to enjoy. Joe wasn't aiming to invest in perfection which makes sense given it's age and intended purpose. Nor was he focused on smaller secondary items that weren't in horrible shape. Thus most of my time was spent on on the paint correction and ceramic for day-forward ease of cleaning. Given how badly it was swirled out we decided on my Premium Enhancement Polish approach and then to lock in the results with a solid CarPro Ceramic Coating. I also worked to remove the water spots that had built up on all the windows and sealed them up with a very hydrophobic sealant as well. Overall the appearance defects were greatly reduced to clearly 80% or better. Not quite a full correction but great and perfect for an older daily driver. The whole vehicle was pretty swirled out. Couple Cell shots Before / After Polishing
  13. "these machines must be zero-emissions, meaning they will have to be either battery-powered or plug-in" Someone needs to explain to him how they are ultimately powered and how they aren't really Zero-Emissions. We're living in the dumbest.decade.ever
  14. and rightfully so as most news outlets don't do anything other than re-post other stories and approach their business with money and clicks first, political agendas and more and put truth last. it's not surprising that the alt-right and far left whack jobs come out with with their own theories in the absence of truth and transparency. no one believes or trusts in anything anymore so in that vacuum of distrust new stories on all sides emerge that are just as untrustworthy as anything the government or new media puts out.
  15. Keep making a hard enough turn left and you'll eventually go right.
  16. Yep. It's not a huge issue with ones I've seen but a lot of details post up some nasty stuff. Where I see it most is ones that were on the showroom floor and are dusted off. This one specifically looked to have damage on the gloss black plastic trim on the sides. Was clear it was not factory though, so my guess is the dealer prep did it. Fixed now though. Agree. Haven't really looked at them or even this one in detail, but for what I have seen they seem pretty solid. This one has the Turbo 3 cyl motor. I have no idea what it drives like other than turning it around in my driveway but it can't be far off from a 11yr old CR-V The only drawback I see from the design is the windshield cowling. It's DEEP and will hold a mega ton of wet snow if left outside and the wipers are 75% buried in there with no sign of a defroster there. I can barely get my hands in there too. Time will tell.
  17. This super nice 2021 Bronco Sport Big Bend Trim in Carbonized Gray Metallic came to me Howard here on CR. Having brought their first child into the world means needing more room and a nicer ride to haul all that comes with little ones and the goal is to continue to do it in style. The approach here was pretty simple. Protect it and allow for ease of cleaning day-forward. This meant a nice 18-24 month Ceramic Coating and given the cladding that abounds here, a dual-layer protective treatment with Trim Specific Coating as the base with a layer on top to help protect it even more. Now the entire lower half of this vehicle will stay dark, satin, and shed bugs off the front with much greater ease. Given Howard has returned with yet another vehicle, this is my way of thanking him but more importantly, congratulating them both. This package also included the wheels faces polished and coated with a wheel specific Ceramic and all the glass was stripped of new car muck, polished and coated as well. All combined won't change the aerodynamics but it will cut down on cleanings, make them a lot easier and help keep the vehicle looking fresh and new for quite a while. Lastly, several parts of the paint, and especially the gloss black trim was riddled with swirls and scratches, thus I corrected all those areas and got it restored to the brand new flaw-free condition it should have been since day one. Thanks again Howard Williams and I look forward to your reaction to seeing it in person once the roads clear. Until then she will stay dry in the garage as shown. Starting off with a little before and AFTER with the swirls that were located in the rear quarter panel trim.
  18. Call Tim Neely at Performance Auto Spa. Another option, call Joel at Tintworks in Powell is just up the street from me and does good work too. You can remove the tint yourself pretty easily. Steamers are the way to go if you have one.
  19. The Acid Green is a Porsche thing. I like all but the rear badge and he's actually going back to the stock matte black for that one. Wheel medic did the brake calipers and did a great job on them too. Wheel wise, I'm normally not a fan of gloss black wheels either but in this case I think they really look good. It's too bad they are still only a 6/10 in my book due to the thrashing they received. He may re-do them in something else or at the very least another round of gloss black and this time, hand wash them. Thanks for the props. This one was rewarding as it was a transformation he really noticed.
  20. I suddenly have an urge to rent this movie Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk
  21. So this weekend's detail was for a referral from a previous customer. he brought to me his beautiful new-to-him 2017 Porsche Macan GTS. Cars like this are best had with super low miles and his 20k mile copy is just that. The most loaded version with just a few miles and years on it letting the original buyer absorb the initial depreciation. That said, as with most used cars, comes some cosmetic issues that perhaps weren't of major concern to them but now that he has taken possession, he definitely wanted them addressed. My Premium Enhancement Polish Approach did just that and then some. The vehicle is finished in Porsche's Vulcan Grey Metallic with hints of gloss and matte black accents which really set it off nicely. The downside is it also saw its fair share of tunnel car washes and most harmful were the times it went through the ones that had what I call the Woolly bear caterpillar style brushes along the wheel tracks. The kind that spin and SCRUB the wheels. Unfortunately with such W-I-D-E wheels and low profile tires, it's equivalent to scrubbing gloss-black wheels with scouring pads. The paint had a fair bit of swirling too. Brushes and even soft-touch car washes will ruin the paint over time. They also use pretty strong chemicals that in MANY cases, including here, can stain anodized trim such as his roof rails (see pics). I got them about 95% restored to new though. Lastly, somewhere in the recent months the vehicle encountered some wet paint. The hood, roof and front end were spattered with tiny bits of white paint and under the passenger side, there's evidence of having driven over red paint. Short story, I had my correction work cut out for me this weekend. The approach was simple; tackle 75% or better reduction in those imperfections, clean up the wheels as best possible and address all surfaces, paint, trim, wheels and glass with their respective coatings. The wheels were the only area that did not receive coating in this case and I'll cover more on that later. They did however, get as deep of a polish as they had left to take and are sealed up nicely but a ceramic on wheels with such imperfections and marring left wouldn't perform anywhere near the expected level. Surfaces need to be nearly perfect or those imperfections will greatly reduce the effective non-stick property of the coating. Anyway, all-in the vehicle took a huge turn for the better and ended up with what I would eye-ball as nearly a 95% reduction to near full correction on painted surfaces. The trim restored VERY nicely and is now a deep rich matte black. The glass is polished and coated and overall it now looks better than the day it was delivered. Onto the pics. I put some of the BEFORE shots at the end too. I LOVE the color and the Yellow Accents the owner added. Yes, this is what even soft-touch car washes can do to paint The damage done to the wheels however is some of the worst I've seen Even the trim can suffer damage from them It cleaned up nicely though
  22. I've been following and tracking the OHD stats on Covid since they started publishing them. I've also been following several online YT Peeps but this guy has not only been spot-on throughout the months, he's pretty damn genuine. This one is worth a 15 min watch.
  23. I know right? Brands and Colors always seem to come in qty. LOL!
  24. So Ceramic Sunday this week involved a beautiful Camaro SS in Nightfall Gray Metallic that a friend of mine picked up with just over 20k miles on it. Overall it was in good shape but it did have some light swirls and imperfections that needed cleaned up. There were also a handful of larger rock chips that he wanted me to address and thus brought some Dr. Color Chip paint for me to use. Overall the approach was to correct the paint and apply a nice layer of CarPro Ceramic Paint Coating to it so that day-forward clean up would be much easier and to help lock in the gloss level achieved during the polishing phase. It also included a solid wheel coating designed to resist heat and acidic elements from brake dust and lastly, the polishing and coating of all glass surfaces so those too are hydrophobic and really allow for a clarity that is noticeable. Overall the metallic flake really pops now and the swirls are all but gone. Many thanks to Rob for his trust in my work and the opportunity to work on such a great looking and sounding car. One has to love the deep tone, crackles and pop sounds these V8's make.
  25. Haha, right? If they just had it sitting an inch lower. In terms of the license plate plug, it's a bummer they even drilled into this thing. The bracket mounts from two large bolts on the underside and holds just fine. They didn't even need to put a hold in the bumper :fuuuu: Are you in need of them for your car? I likely have some larger and smaller ones as I buy them in bulk.
