  1. Agree. Kindergarten kids everywhere saw this coming. [emoji849] Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk
  2. Crazy isn't it? My guess is their CUV's are selling better. This thing is nice but it drives HUGE for what it is. Part of it in this case is the dark interior including headliner and 15% tint all around. Feels like I'm wearing my sunglasses at night. LOL. The back window looks big but the visibility out is not. Good looking car though. I wish they would lop off the inner tail pipe about 2-3" further back and just leave the big old openings they have.
  3. Another addition to the Columbus Fluff n' Buff Scene. This week involved a fully loaded 2022 Kia Stinger GT 2 in beautiful Ascot Green Metallic. The owner is a friend who picked this up new and wanted to add a little "pop!" to the paint work. It only has 3,500 miles on it and came with some very minor dealer installed swirls but to really amp up the gloss and protect the paint day-forward, we decided on a New Vehicle Polish & Protect with a dual layer Cquartz Ceramic Coating. I think the results turned out great and now it looks as good as it performs. LOVE the German Influence carried over by the once German Car Designers. Also, the new Badging and window trim treatment really sets the car off well. Onto the pics!

  5. So this weekend's detail was a tall order, Literally. I'm by no means tall but even on a 3ft ladder I barely reached the center of the roof 😅 This beauty is owned by Rocky here on CR. It's a really nice 2016 Dodge RAM 2500 in Granite Crystal Metallic Clear coat that sits on some aftermarket wheels he just couldn't say no to given the price and the fact that the rubber was brand new too. It has just under 100k miles and was in need of a good clean up, paint correction and given the size, a ceramic coating so as to make much shorter work of day-forward cleanings. I don't normally go on-site to do details but I've known Rocky for over 10yrs and given the truck won't fit in my garage and the fact that my entire garage could fit inside his, it just made sense to work it out so the on-site could happen. Basic Polish & Protect over most of the vehicle but I did have to compound and polish a few panels to help fix some cars wash damage and scratches from it's previous life. Car is now protected with ceramic on paint and wheels and the trim. Some trim was also restored from a slight fading condition.
  6. So this weekends detail was for my friend and fellow CR Member Tim who was getting his baby prepped for a car show. It's a 40th Anniversary (2004) Mustang Mach 1 in beautiful Competition Orange. I wish I did a cold-start video because with Long Tuber Headers and a Borla Exhaust, this car sounds amazing! He has loads of other upgrades done to it and thus it was time to fix up the paint and help it look as good as it sounds and likely runs. Overall the car was pretty clean but loaded with 17yrs+ of swirls and some contamination. The plan here was to do a full correction on the paint, restore the trim to Black and lock it all in with a good quality Ceramic Coating. Thanks again to Tim for his continued trust in my work. Enjoy that car and bring home a trophy or something from the upcoming show! Now onto the pics. Not the best or most ideal time of day with the sun up high, but I gotta work around rain and more so here they are.
  7. So this I performed a mid-week detail and it rounds out the garage as car #2 for last weeks owner who had that beautiful pearl white Honda Accord I completed. This car is also a bit special to her as it was her mothers vehicle prior to her passing and thus it most certainly deserved the royal treatment. It's a 2015 Honda Civic EX-L finished in Urban Grey Metallic. Not the sexiest color but it has some flake that pops and it does hide dirt well. Here the goal was to clean it up, remove the tar and tree sap and lock in the gloss with a Ceramic Coating so day-forward washes would be that much easier. Wheels here are gloss black and most always come to me dull and lifeless, so those too were polished back to new and coated thus eliminating any harsh wheels cleaners being needed as brake dust will wash off with ease. This is a nearly 7 year old 2015 model so another aspect addressed was the black trim. The windshield cowling was the most impacted but all of it was beginning to fade a bit. It's now back to new and should be good for several years. Lastly, a few "extras" were the removal of the old front license plate and plugging of the bumper hole and painting that plug to match. On the rear, similar to last time, a nice rubber sleeve for the plate to avoid any further scratching and gouging into the paint, ZERO rattles when closing the trunk and since I had a few more, a nice little Honda Racing frame to replace the dealer frame. Now onto the pics!
  8. Thanks. Just trying to point out where lots of installers cut corners and it seems to be pretty prevalent. One of the 911's I did was nearly as bad and had to have Julius re-do the previous owners purchase of PPF because it honestly took away from the look of the car. LOL! Thanks. Fat finger and ignored the spell-check as I have him loaded in there. My bad. Anyway, car was bought at Roush Honda. Not sure if they do it in-house or contract it out. Agree. I have watched him and his brother when he did it turn this into a craft or art. His work on my wife's CX-5 is perhaps the best I've seen. I had a friend and fellow detailer over last night and he was blown away at how perfect it was. Cut lines where needed such as under an over hang of trim or headlights were still so far back and clean that they couldn't be seen only felt. He's the man!
  9. Dare I say perhaps one of the best all around daily drivers...but then I'm biased :gabe: This one comes to me as a referral from a previous detail and fell into my New Car Preservation Package. With only 3,400 miles on it, it was still pretty badly contaminated and loaded with iron dust and tree sap on top of that. Customer approached it with a full 2 layer ceramic on Paint, Trim, Wheels and Glass in hopes to help keep the weekly routine of cleaning to a much easier level. Mission Accomplished and I think it turned out well, like it was mine. Wheels polished out to perfection despite one already having a slight curb hit  The only negative it really is hit with and a lesson learned on their part is they chose NOT to go with my friend Juliusfor PPF on the front end. They certainly paid less but they not only got a cheap-template driven PPF application with loads of edges that IMO look horrible, but the installer also never did the front bumper. WOW! They skipped the most important part. I know money is a concern as most do live on a budget but this is a tough one as those flaws will remain to be seen every.single.day. Lastly, the film they used (not sure the brand) is meh on clarity. Side by side with my car the owner about cried but is looking into having it refunded by the dealer and re-done with Julius. Now onto the pics! Slight Curb Rash on this one already, but hey, it is a daily  I just LOVE the classy Pearl White they use on them Now the ugly.......I can't stand templates and edges. :fuuuu: Edges Tend to lift and attract dirt that's nearly impossible to remove without making things worse These mirrors are horrible. I really hope she gets it re-done.
  10. If he's an EV Fan or fan of the future so-to-speak, and he likes Toyota, perhaps go out of state and find a RAV 4 Plug in PRIME. I drove one and seriously considered it for the wife when we bought hers. They aren't cheap but they are still a decent value in the mid $35 to 42k range. Plenty of power, dare I say very quick around town AWD Larger than a car and while not muscular, they are less of a CUV than other choices Lots of tech and features No range anxiety and overall great MPG's with upwards of 40+ miles of pure EV.
  11. Just got my wheels back from being powder coated in Porsche Vulcan grey metallic. Another HUGE A+ job from Team Wheel Medic. 2 day turn time was a pleasant surprise. Love this color as it nearly matches the too brow of the OEM sport grill on my car. It's also super glossy and from the right angle they look like black chrome. Sealed up with 2 layers of GYEON Rim ceramic. Now, off chrome delete the window trim in gloss black. Wrap is in route. Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk
  12. So a friend and neighbor of mine who always stops by when I'm detailing vehicles, finally has his chance in the detail booth. He is older and has a bad shoulder but always takes really nice care of his vehicles. He recently traded in a 5yr old Jeep Cherokee and decided to upgrade a couple notches and picked up this 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Velvet Red Metallic. Goals here were to negate the need for waxing, etc ever few weeks and make it more of a one and done with just a ceramic sealant booster as part of the normal care so as to save his shoulders and plenty of time. Targeted with my New Vehicle Protection package he upgraded to the 2 Layer Ceramic Coating on the paint, included the trim to keep the plastic dark and better than new and for the wheels a coating that will negate him having to use any harsh wheel cleaners to clean them.. As a bonus I did the glass and thus wrapping his new car in a super hydrophobic bubble of protection that will make caring for it much easier over the next couple years. Many thanks to John for his continued trust in my work and a sincere congratulations on picking up a really nice looking ride.
  13. So a friend of mine picked up a beautiful VW SUV for his better half. A super nice 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line in Deep Black Pearl Metallic. A great color but will surely be a chore to keep clean given the size and fact that it is not garaged. The vehicle only has about 4k miles but was carrying it's share of dealer swirls and marring that wasn't allowing the really rather fine flake in the paint to show through. The gloss black wheels look amazing too but were pretty heavily swirled too. On this one it wasn't' going to take too much to correct it so my advice was to go with a Basic Polish & Protect and seal it up with a two layer Ceramic. I covered the plastic trim around the wheels wells at No-Charge since there wasn't much. Wheels were coated and of course I polished and sealed up the glass too. All in all, the vehicle turned out really nice, has a great deep look to the color and the flake finally has a chance to show through. Again, the wheels set this car off nicely and they too are now swirl free. Onto the pics:
  14. Sorry to hear Trish. Not a situation I want to face but Nick leaves for school with his car in less than 30 days. I have no nails left. I think at this point you perhaps should just have her understand the potential impact of what "could" have happened. Maybe a ride along with a CPD or Trooper? Not sure. With our Nick, I'm CONSTANTLY explaining to him the serious responsibility of driving a multi ton vehicle and what it can do and the lives it could put in danger. No real advice but perhaps just helping her understand the true gravity by making her a part of everything it's going to take to resolve the matter including perhaps an apology to the other family/person involved. Good luck.
  15. Mother nature cooperated yesterday when shooting a customers car that I detailed so I took the opportunity to snap some of mine as well. These are updated shots of the daily after a few minor cosmetic mods were added since I got her. Enjoying her still. There are worse daily driver choices out there. Side view showing rear spoiler and front lip Side markers blacked out and while simple and cheap, I really like the front lip and updated grill badge Not my favorite angle of the car but it works. Rear backup lights at 50% tint and rear reflectors tinted too. Rear badge is growing on me. My tie in better if I do the window trim in gloss black. My favorite angle: Honda did a good job with the lights and front design. I wish the intercooler had a screen in front of it or was black though.
  16. Damn, that's a clean copy. Nice find! Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk
  17. If you're local and interested, go see my buddy Jason Burris at Chapman Ford in Marysville. He has a really good perspective on EV's now. I agree the biggest plus is the charging network. I waffled more times on the M3 than I care to admit. Lots of great things going for them but for the money I would have likely gone the other way and had another German ICE vehicle. For me it's not just the quality and fitment it's the interior. Just way to stark and plain. Nothing visually interesting to fall in love with while you're driving and actually IN the car. The Y is the same. I will say when you drive the Mach E and Y side by side you'll see a HUGE difference and advantage for the Ford in terms of ride quality and noise. It's the difference between my Honda and a quality German car. That and the fact that interior is more interesting. It has it's shortcomings in terms of materials but Ford makes it feel like a normal car. When their GT version is out it will be more side by side performance wise. Currently the Mach E feels like a mid 13 second vehicle. Quick but not fast. The Model 3 and Y definitely feel super-quick, dare I say fast. Just my 2 cents. Good luck! Interesting times for sure.
  18. Very cool. I've noticed it too. Amazing how a little dust in the air can reflect like and take what somewhere is a not so good situation and and provide a cool sunset for us a long way away.
  19. So a friend of mine who I've detailed another car for, found a really nice looking and very well equipped newer body style 2017 CR-V EX-L trim in Dark Olive Green Metallic for her son that is likely going to have this through his college years. It's only issue was that it has 110,000 miles on it and needed a really good clean up and the swirls and imperfections knocked-down. The vehicle is going to sit outside so to balance cost with ROI, we decided to go with a Basic Polish & Protect package which is perfect for removing the minor oxidation, road grime and scuffs it was covered with. This isn't a paint correction package, but I use of a machine polisher combined with a fantastic polish and primer for a ceramic combined in one which knocks out the blemishes thus greatly reducing the appearance of swirls & imperfections while brightening the paint’s color to enhance the gloss of the clear coat and also allows the metallic flake that's hidden from all the above to really come through. In turn the savings on the prep portion of the project was applied to a better quality 2 year ceramic coating on both the paint and also a trim specific coating that will keep that plastic cladding dark and like-new for quite some time. Lastly, as a "thank you" I polished and applied a glass coating to the windows to help during times of rain. Interior wise, it was in relatively good shape, but to round things out and provide them with a super clean-slate starting point for care going forward, I gave it a good Basic Interior Detail including a spot clean around the pedals to remove a few years of crusted up salt and dirt that tends to gather there. All-in, the vehicle came out fantastic and that Dark Olive Metallic Paint now has a rich depth and clarity that it hasn't had since it was new. Onto the pics! At drop off it was evident the vehicle had quite a bit of road grime and contamination from tree sap all over it. The trim had never been protected and started to turn to a light blue-grey color too. That flake is popping through now! Another added update, I included a nice latex license plate holder and caps for the screws. Helps not only solidify it from rattling when closed but keeps the plate from coming into direct contact with the paint behind it thus no scratches along the outside edge like what typically happens. A nice clean look.
  20. So a friend of mine, J.D. Shanks, has a really nice 2021 4 Runner TRD Pro in the very unique Lunar Rock Color. It's a super light solid color green that has an appearance of grey if the lighting is right.. This beauty is tastefully and very functionally modified. Small lift, new wheels and tires, updated bits on the interior and more. It's a daily driver that has also taken him on some ridiculously fun outings off-road. End of day, this beast is very capable off road yet retains all the refined road manners of a modern day SUV. It was however time to clean her up inside and out. I'll focus the pics on the exterior as the interior is now back to brand new and honestly was just dusty. Exterior is now back to new as well
  21. So many of my friends and those that have been to a Columbus Cars & Coffee (=AZVNVDHnT54PAxLgg4pR1orNS6cX03b2gBtcD2ixhDP93PPiDQy8snvsNTNP4J8_66_AJsGA1OE-Q1Ax5kft5tut3wrfm2SV189NIwz71gXW2w&__tn__=-]K-R"]Clay Lanctot) event will recognize this car and perhaps know it's owner. The short version of the story is that life has dealt a heavy blow here and let's just say it's time for the owner and car to part ways. While I barely know him personally outside meeting him at various events, my heart aches for his situation for a large number of reasons. He's a car-guy and needs our help and that's coming. Out of respect too, that's all I'm going to share on the situation and ask that others will do the same. First order of assistance was to help get his life long project in great condition and looking like the best it can be for the next lucky person who will hopefully continue it's journey as a great fun project car that flat-out is reliable and so very well sorted. There's literally 2 pages of typed out work that's been done to the car as it's that well organized and documented. Two boxes of manuals and diagrams showing the build down to the calibration of the gauges and layout of the stereo system. In short however, know that this, as the plate reads was at one time a 1976 Datsun 280zx. Since 1993, it's been living as a hybrid 90's Mustang. The 302cu in 5.0L motor mated to the Ford 5spd from the era and even the custom made to fit wheels all align perfectly. Painted in Satin Black Urethane Enamel with custom upholstered seats from a Porsche of the era and carpet that is thick and well done bring the car together very well. I will say, the paint is near flawless and very well done. what few marks are there were as a result of it being in storage for a bit. I gave the car a thorough cleanup including a graphene sealant and a spot extraction and clean up of the interior to help make it next owner ready. More to come on this vehicle in the next 1-2 weeks. Just know that if you're a car guy on any forum, the goal ahead of us is to help get eyes-on-it in hopes of finding a buyer. The car will likely be auctioned off and the proceeds there to help the family deal with the situation. It's a good cause for a fellow car guy of his entire life. One that worked in a body shop and did paint work and lived and breathed cars and fun. Thanks in advance for helping where you can. Contact information for those interested and more forthcoming. Please stay tuned. Until then, here is a handful of eye candy bits for those that can appreciate a mans hobby and passion. More photos to come. Prayers to the owner and his family. Shout out to =AZVNVDHnT54PAxLgg4pR1orNS6cX03b2gBtcD2ixhDP93PPiDQy8snvsNTNP4J8_66_AJsGA1OE-Q1Ax5kft5tut3wrfm2SV189NIwz71gXW2w&__tn__=-]K-R"]Richard Schnipke for putting me in touch and having the opportunity to help out where I can. This is a special one to me.
  22. This time Adam a long time CR Member who has brought me his Toyota FJ in the past, brought over his better half's SUV. This tasteful beast his a fun little gem of a turbo 6 under the hood and shrouds it's potential with soccer mom styling. Not every vehicle I do ends up with a Ceramic Coating and this is another example of a daily driver that will see it's subscription to a tunnel car wash system fulfilled thus just a basic clean and protect with a good sealant applied. It really helped as living in a "construction zone" for new-builds and having been through a winter season here, left it pretty badly contaminated and in need of a fresh start. Thanks again to Adam for his continued trust in my work and props for keeping the FJ in such GREAT shape after all that time!
  23. So a long time member of CR, Norberto, picked up a super nice 2008 Ultrasonic Blue Mica Lexus IS-F with an awesome sounding V8. It was time to get her to look as good as she sounds and the timing lined up perfect with a trip to Columbus he was already putting together. Overall the car was pretty clean but over the past 2 previous owners it had seen it's share of car washes and swirl creation tools. The plans going forward however were to maintain the paint and clear coat, clean up what we could and then Ceramic Coat it to lock in the goodness. The plan involved my Premium Enhancement Polish and a nice CarPro Ceramic Coating to lock it all in and amp up the gloss. The great thing about Lexus and many Japaneses Paints is that they are on the soft-side and easy to correct, thus this beauty is about 95-100% Perfect now! Thank again to Norberto for trusting in my work and helping make my garage look great with this gloss covered beast in it for a couple days. Looking forward to seeing your reaction upon pick up. Onto the pics!
  24. So Rick from here on CR has had this really nice 5 Series as his wife's daily driver for a few years. Great looking M-Treatment to it really sets it off as a classy car with a slight flexing of muscles. In for a refresher polish in my Basic Polish & Protect Package including a 2yr ceramic coating. Mother nature was kind enough to bring the sun out for a handful of pics. Continued thanks to Rick for the trust in my work and I am glad you and the wife were pleased with the results once again.
