  1. The story of a first compeition between my kids Tang Soo Do Studio and a local Taekwondo Studio. So as a kid I grew up participating and loving it. My mom wouldn't ever come as she couldn't take it but dad was always there to cheer me on. FFWD to today, my wife has a hard time watching the kids spar on Friday nights too, so it was no surprise she had a hard time watching my kids compete. In some ways it was tough for me too but it's all a part of growing up and learning as you go. Here's the story: My daughter who's only 6 years old wieghs in at a skin-and-bones 44lbs but is very limber and what's there is of mass is muscle and speed. She's fun and enjoys sparring as much as anyone. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/149032910/original.jpg Like most of the kids, she had a good time, but to sit around through demonstrations, events and yes occasionally participating, it does make for a long day even for the adults. She took it well though, watched, learned and of course fooled around. All in all she did well. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/149032911/original.jpg When it came to fight time, she was ready and had good spirits. Round one couldn't be so bad right? She's never fought another style other than her class and we heard she was going up against a senior level yellow belt with slightly less experience, so we thought that was an advantage. After all, Sophia is ready and is fearless. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/149032912/original.jpg So imagine the look and reaction on my wife's face (I wish I captured it in an image) - we did on video from a friend with us when this beast of a 7 year old walks up as her competition. I must admit the girl was around the size of my 10yr old son and while likely a sloth in movement, this is a contact competition so I was a little surprised. They based the pairings on age and skill set so knowing she had a 40lb advantage I too was a little concerned. David meet Goliath http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/149032913/original.jpg My son Nicholas did well in form presentations and was only a little nervous. Not too bad considering there's a full college baseketball arena filled with people watching and the group he was a part of larger than he's been with before. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/149032915/original.jpg When it came to fight time he was anxious as he went towards the very end and was getting bored. Here too though we found out that he was up against a kid 1yr older, one belt higher and much larger in size with a decent reach on him. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/149032916/original.jpg Nick did well though and showed now fear. He had a more aggressive offense, used all the techniques he's learned to this point but the other kid was very good and blocked a lot of scoring points as his defense was top notch. Here you can see the other kid (Green Belt) was even prepared for Nick's jumping kicks and managed to block a nicely placed kick. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/149032917/original.jpg All in all a good time was had. Sophia walked away with 3rd place out of 30 which we're proud as hell of. Nick made it through to the final four but was bumped by his good friend and classmate on the far left here who ended up taking third overall. The hardest part for him overall is Sophia came home with a bronze medal and Nick the typical "participating medal" that everyone gets (yes I despise that shit practice ) and so does he. However, he took it in spirit and learned a lot. http://www.pbase.com/timothylauro/image/149032919/original.jpg To all who read this, thanks for listing to a proud papa.
  2. Slow starting rolls. I pass a black one quite often up there as he must leave for work around the same time as I drop the kids off. I'm not a dig player on the streets. Not my thing overall plus the MS3 is FWD and blows on many levels for such play times. I'd much rather haven an auto V8 for such things. It's also more fun knowing he often sees me coming and is prolly praying for a red light.
  3. might....but I've run a few 460's in the Sawmill Powell area as they are all over and I know they haven't. The s-curves up there are a fun area to play.
  4. yes. it would help keep the car flat and level so I don't tip over my milk as I change lanes to get around the land yachts that often try and hang with me as I make my home from Kroger Triple base block in place
  5. ^^ This ^^ agree and supports Aaron's point. His old GTI handled great and according to him the ride superior. When inquiring about the details and superior balance overall, you'll find he didn't cheap-out on the suspension. I'd love to upgrade my MS3 to a similar set up but can't justify the investment in dollars just yet with all other projects I have. Especially since I no longer would be auto crossing it to use as justification. It's also not my daily. However, I do see the reasoning behind going with the good stuff and believe the negative comments behind coil over is due to cheaping out on products.
  6. You saw Ken Block Driving a hopped-up focus and put it in your brain that Ford was doing it right and included AWD on their production models.
  7. So in the end it sounds like you were in the lead by at least 3/4 car
  8. he lives in TX so no. point made and laughed at though
  9. Talk to the guys at IPS. I remember when they first started out.
  10. This for sure as even with the MS3 crowd the number blowing motors because of a lack of fuel is measurable. Bad way to fuck up. I have to add a new pump before I can safely add the down pipe. I'd be surprised if the ST is any different.
  11. Maybe she'll grow up to be a bad ass lawyer and make some cash. Ask me how I know.
  12. Be Thorne and paint your phone in Bed Liner
  13. In the MS3 stock the motor mount is mush and at WOT you'd miss third gear as the motor is twisting too much. Drove me fucking nuts in both 2nd and 3rd. Simple swap ended that and keeps things firmed up nicely. Once swapped I've never had an issue. Not sure if the ST will suffer the same thing.
  14. I have. Great stuff but from a perspective on how I drive and living in Ohio, the AWD need would go unused most of the time. I'll be 39 forever. I also don't make a habit of roll racing. I drive how I drive to get where I'm going for me not to entertain someone on the road with me.
  15. CR 30 somethings trying to be 17 again. True but screw fucking around on frozen roads regardless.
  16. ^^ this. right up there with supermodel bullshit on who wouldn't fuck Kate Upton. Knock FWD all day but in the end it is what it is and if that's the main thing that keeps someone from not liking or enjoying a car then they have other issues. My MS3 GT is fun little wagon and considering 96.7% I'm not stoplight racing like a 17yr old, it's a blast to drive. I'm sure the ST will be too. ^^ this.
  17. Nice! I wish I had the talent and time. I keep telling myself the upside to not is at least I can't spend the money I would. Looks nice. I've always loved those cars. Just to add though, I love the Saturn Sky Redlines too. I wish I would have / should go get one as to me they are fun little ride to have in the garage.
  18. I have a very nice Panasonic laser printer/fax scanner combo machine that you can have for $75. Great unit, $400 new, will post pics shortly. My wife used it as a fax machine in her law office. I believe we even have an extra toner cartridge too. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-KX-FLB801-All-Flatbed-Laser/dp/B000FL601M http://img2.findthebest.com/sites/default/files/875/media/images/Panasonic_KX-FLB801.jpg http://www.panateknik.com/user_files/1/2/blog_images/2_103_KX-FA85-Toner.jpg
  19. 13....I need to introduce my son to her so they can marry I want that shotgun.
  20. People who know the law, how to present the case and are not lax about holding people accountable. You'd be surprised what a Cease and Desist letter will do when sent to the proper parties. Especially when it outlines the next steps that will be followed through with and it includes legal action that is supported by case law thousands of times over. Several years back I had someone use an image of mine without permission. They ignored the first C&D letter. Until the second one included their hosting company and employer since they used company time and equipment while surfing at work to do it. Not only was it effective, there were zero issues having legal fees covered as well.
  21. I'm in sales, I'm good and I can sell pics of turds. Work product or not, I would be Waggs would be pissed if someone stole his pics as would just about any photog. Pics on CR are just as vulnerable.
  22. In. Digital Watermark images. Apply it on all images posted online. Also, don't post anything big. Keep it small and low resolution via photoshop. Makes enlargements and prints difficult. I'd also limit what and how much of any shoot you post. I keep 99.9% of my commercial / paid work behind a password protected site and accessible by link only. Not so much for theft reasons but privacy reasons. Register any images used for commercial work. Photoshop and elements have actions that can be used to make watermarking easy. Prepare to be chastised by Ben
  23. WOW FTW. I stream 1080 movies all the time with zero issues on their 15 down/1 up plan.
  24. Not saying that at all. I'm saying don't put that argument in the same one as the first part. If you want to discuss "crime control" and the problems of mental illness and the medication madness that's cool, I'm 110% behind those conversations, but I don't want that mixed in with Tyranny and fear of gov't. Fight those separately as the opposition will gladly mix everyone in the same pot of gun lover wacko's and will focus on the tyranny part and leverage the rest as just a supporting piece to the tyranny cause. Make sense? Divide and conquer and focus on battles separately before moving forward with an approach that exposes a greater likelihood of having to defend a view that others are more open to seeing and agreeing with. In reality though, I don't care if everyone here on CR has AK's and AR's, if the military / gov't wanted to take over Cbus, none of us would stand a chance at stopping them. The rebels overseas are struggling and the gov't they are fighting isn't armed nearly as well as ours.
  25. Sexy. Hope she goes to a good home.
