2012 is going to be my year of change. I'm 42 and not in my prime any longer. Back in the day of constant activity I was a lean and strong 165lbs. with a very lean 155lbs when training. Over the holidays I peaked at 196lbs. HOLY SHIT! I thought. That's 30-40lbs more than I used to be. Dieting and even just plain eating better was barely helping and it seems even just a day or two I'd gain back any fat I lossed. Working in training for a 5k which I'm at a 5mph clip for 3 miles 3 times a week now, I'm finally jump starting my metabolism. Combined with eating way way better which for me means far less sugar and near zero breads, I'm down 10lbs in just 2-3 weeks. That's even including a full 7 days in Miami on vacation with the family that I just got back from! Hell yeah!! I'll be working in some lifting starting next week. Hieght: 5' 9" High: 196lbs Current: 186lbs Goal: 165lbs Stretch: 155lbs I don't care how long it takes, but by sometime this summer I'll be either at my goal or damn close.

Meh....with cell phones now a days so good, use one. There's nothing in a mall worth carrying a real camera for anyway. I only go to Easton during the day and I always have my gun with me when I do. Night time there is like feeding time for punks. No thanks. I have no tolerance for being around those that hang there late and vote with my wallet by leaving early.

Take a few days vacation and cannonball that bitch back to C-Bus. It's just a car; a little rain and snow won't do anything to it that a decent detail won't take care of. The trip and related stories will add to it's value to you. Nice pickup man!

Old guy is more real than 90% of CR. Someone extend him an invite. Something tells me he'd make the drive to QSL for a meet. -
Long read for what it was but yeah....we've all had shit like that happen. The MS3 has been sitting with a dead battery and I won't begin to bitch about how I can't get to my tool box because of how it's parked. Now that I read this article, I dread what is going to happen when I go to simply change out the battery.

Your wish would be granted if I were in charge. It's easy; Adminstrators should work with teachers to create their own performance criteria/merit based review plan. One that makes sense, looks out for the kids first and keeps the system whole. Put in a few checks and balances and then hold them accountable for their own performance as they wrote it. There are no wishes, only opportunities to get shit done. We just need people that will do it. Next issue. I am one of those people that believes a portion of a teacher should be based on performance. The answer to your question lies in the first sentences. There are no absolutes. If something doesn't work, change it. Should special ed teachers be on the same performance plan and pay scale? Perhaps not. Have those teachers write their own performance plan too. Next issue. There's never just one component to a merit or performance based system. I have 6 KJA's in my role. 50% is revenue because of my role, then it goes in smaller %'s for the others. Still simple, never complicated and always created by those you are holding accountable. If you work with them to build it, then they will own it and be accountable to a plan they wrote. I was a key part of writing the criteria I'm judged on and I also was a 95% author of my own compensation plan. I own both and run the business like I own it, because in a sense, I do. I'm a firm believer in having employees be a big part in authoring both their review process and comp plan. I've been doing it for years it just plain works beautifully. No longer do I hear people bitch about what happens to them, nor do my people feel in the dark or even fumble with questions. They know the rules and even formulated the plans. The main person holding them accountable is themselves through said plans that I approved. It's about The SPEED of Trust. It's a great book. A key component to building trust is performance. Clearly the public doesn't trust the school system and a big portion of that lack of trust comes from the schools not performing.

Ironically I had the same results thus why I think 99% of the allergy visit bullshit is exactly just that. Those here that know the story of my sinus surgery and suffering from the days of college hear this, but in the beginning, I had the same outcome as you. Everything including shellfish and chocolate was said to be hitting me and causing my issues. In the end it was all bullshit and it was really just my sinuses needed fixed surgically. Since 2004 I can breath with zero issues, have zero runny noses and when I get a cold, fuck it, doesn't bother me. Not saying that's your solution or issue, but I would also see an ENT Specialist before you go the allergy shot route. Our vet said the same thing about our dog and his "allergies" that were said to be pollen, grass, etc....causing him to lose hair, etc....Wasn't anything medically it was 100% you need to do these shots, etc.... I said fuck that, researched it a bit on my own and found out it was his food. Even the stuff from the vet wasn't good. Once I switched it....BAM! all was fixed. In your case, you might want to start by checking your diet and experimenting there a bit. i don't think a shot is the answer if it is, I do think it could just be a minor diet change that even the tests aren't picking up. I would start researching that. My sister in law was allergic to dogs for the longest time, so she thought, but once she adjusted her diet, her system has been able to tolerate dogs and in fact they have two with no issues.

Yep. Speaks volumes of what those involved in the school system are really concerned with. Follow the money...holds true in just about everything.

I was just about to say, the new entry level GM stuff is no doubt nicer than what it once was but come back in 2-3yrs and you'll hate it just the same. I have a rep who just turned in a loaded 2009 Malibu LTZ company car that listed for nearly $30k and with only 75k miles it's a rattle bucket. Looks great sitting still though. :dumb: I've never owned a VW so I can't say anything there.

I bought one. WTH, it's only a few bucks to match some outfits.

It's not just a matter of my opinion on how far $80k goes when raising a family, saving for retirement, owning a house and providing for kids, aka having a normal life in America. It's a fact; $80k isn't squat. To those you know that make $12/hr. with their degree, I'm sorry, but that's on them, not me and certainly not relevant to the fact that $80k is still not anything to write home about for someone with a college degree equiv. to what teachers have. It also isnt' realvant to what we need in our schools systems. I'm not in support of hiring those with degrees but not utilizing them and instead making $12hr. because they will do the job for less. That's not the solution. (see my comments below) I know a lot of folks who painted themselves into a corner by not maximizing the degree they have too. Technically the degree I have has the highest layoff and unemployment rate all around. (can you name that degree?) The difference is I know how to use the transferable skills it provided me to make 4-5x what those who have that degree and are practicing in the field make. In fact I worked less than 2 years in that field. Perhaps, but hiring someone just because they will do the job for less isn't a recipe for success. I have an open position for a pretty kick as job that all-in will easily net $120-$150 for the right candidate. I don't want someone who will come in and do it for $75k-$100k. ( I litterally have 100's of resumes wanting just that ) I want someone who will kick ass as the job I have for the amount I'm willing to pay to meet the expectations I have. In other words, I'll gladly pay teachers & school board members top dollar but I want performance, accountability and responsibility.I want people who will run the system like a business; like they own it. That is come to table with solutions not cries for more taxes or for others to fix it the problems they face. I don't want average paid teachers just punching a clock or someone with a degree that is under-utilizing it to come in and simply raise their standard of income. I want someone to come in and raise the standard of education and bring value to the dollars we are currently paying out. It's not about saving money it's about getting the most value out of what we currently have being spent. Right now we are spending a lot, showing poor results (generally speaking) and in return continually being asked for more money to continue the cycle.

Here comes several paragraphs of I don't give fuck for Gabe Yes, it's going to take a total reset to fix the system. - That said oo you really think voting yes and continuing to accept more taxes and funding a broken system is the answer? - What other options do the taxpayers have right now? I agree, we likely fund them heavily, and I'm not discounting the importance of college as I do feel it should be made cost effective but let's face it, it's still a choice and still a system that is funded a great deal by the student, unlike public K-12 where currently the burden falls 100% on the taxpayers. - So who is the bad guy that we should be picking on then? - What role do the coaches and teachers play in all this? - Shouldn't teachers be identifying and helping fix the problem? Are they? How? Again, I think they too are an innocent victim being put in the middle but I they continue to support those that put them in the middle by fighting for the tax dollars instead of them being part of the fix to the problem. The school board has done a great job of putting teachers in the middle and using them as pawns in fighting the war of a broken system. IMO, teachers need to come up with the solution, not the taxpayers. - Again, what's their role in their own employment issue? - Are they doing all they can to fix it? Their salary and pensions are part of the problem yes, so of course the taxpayers are going to target them. - Why shouldn't there be a system of paying for performance put in place? - What makes anyone "entitled" to a raise simply for putting in time? Entitlements for longevity are what got us here in the first place. That madness needs to end. By cutting off the funding to the broken system, we are. - What else would you suggest? - Better yet, what else do the teachers and the board suggest? Put the illness on them, it's their problem. Let them own the solution otherwise, if they don't come up with the solution, fingers will continue to be pointed.

I don't think the point is so much what the teachers are making as it is that the school districts continue to come back asking for more and more tax dollars to run their business. I really don't care what they make and feel mid 80's is fine. Honestly, in 2012 a job that pays 80k isn't anything to brag about if you spent 4-6 years in college. Whether they make it in 9 or 12 months, it's still average wage for a college educated person. My point is the retirement system and the school boards mis management of the funding they do get. Their management does include what they pay their people thus ultimately how they distribute their dollar is something they have to work within and it shouldn't be something that we as tax payers have to continue to pay for year after year after year. In today's economy I agree that sports and extras should be made pay to play until the school board sorts out their budget issues. The illness of that should not be put upon the taxpayers as then the board will have no interest in actually fixing the problem. I agree with Brian that the extras are healthy and good for the kids but feel the school board is trying to push that financial responsibility off on the taxpayers every year. The bullshit has to stop. The same goes for taxes. By voting NO we the public are essentially telling the school board enough is enough and we are in fact imposing our own sanctions on them. For the school board to continually position their interests between parents and their own kids in a sense taking them hostage is inexcusable. By doing so the school board is hurting the students and their own teachers. Fix the problem and fuck you on more taxes.

Based on your posts I figured you were, but I'm attempting to be clear for others who are not. Actually, I don't fire anyone and never have. They fire themselves by not meeting their Key Job Accountabilities (KJA's). When they are not doing well THEY write their own plan of corrective action too. I simply approve what they say they are going to do in order to come back on track. It's all a part of accountability. Kids have it too. In the case of schools, they hold them back. Believe me, my son is in third grade and its competitive. No one in his class wants to be the one dummy. They boast of test scores and do compete. Essentially they police themselves. No different than a work force that eventually polices out those that don't pull their weight.

Why shouldn't you hold the teacher responsible? I have no control over the attitude and performance of my sales team, I have no control over whether my lab workers show up for work every day or binge drink the night before, but I'm still ACCOUNTABLE for both. It's called responsibility and a job. Deal with it. Ignoring performance is ridiculous. Teachers need to be held accountable. It's their job to instill a child to want to learn when they are in front of them. Absolutely no different than me in my role as a Sales Director. If I can't win over my team to work FOR ME, then I'm doomed and should be fired. They are teachers and their jobs is to get creative and instill the drive in our kids. We shouldn't be paying them to let kids fail themselves. The role of a leader is to lead not stand around and point fingers. If that's the case, all we're doing is paying them to manage test scores and homework. Have you ever heard of a military leader "managing his troops into battle" ? Fuck no, they LEAD them into battle. We don't need managers making $80-$130k per year, we need leaders making that much. Pay for performance absolutely works.
