Not sure if the above makes me laugh or shake a sad face Kids today should be required to pass a drivers test in a manual transmission car. Nice pick up.

What vehicle features/options can you not "live" without?
TTQ B4U replied to BigOxley's topic in Passing Lane
In my quest to find a new ride or two I drove a 2018 Accord 2.0T with the 10spd auto and must say, it's about one the most well rounded Acura's I've ever driven. IMO it really is a super nice daily driver for someone looking for a car that's the size of an Audi A6 inside with more features than most entry level luxery cars I've seen. If you are in the market for a new sedan, there's not much feature wise that I can think of that this car doesn't have. You can even order it with a 6spd 3-pedal design. -
where do you work again? My update as of today: So far it's been a fun process shopping but I've yet to find anything outstanding that checks as many boxes as my current ride. The only two checkboxe mine lacks is some of the newest lane keeping creature feature/safety things. If I were to pull the trigger today, I would go SUV and it would be a short term lease on an MDX Hybrid Sport. It's the best handling, riding and nicest inside and out IMO for the money. FULLY loaded they are dealing like crazy today and it's a nice ride. I'd then use the equity in mine to buy my wife a new car vs CUV/SUV. We're likely just going to keep the van and park it at my neighbors house as he's fine with that. Too nice of a vehicle and in excellent shape to part with it for what it seemingly is worth. Inside is like brand new. May go later today to drive an AWD 550i MSport as they seem pretty darn nice and I hear a simply tune can really put them into a solid performance zone that would not cause me to miss what I have now I am still hopefully a Tesla deal can be had but again, I have to have 300 mile range and AWD and I won't live with an x-box looking steering wheel.

full blown alexa just like their small hockey puck size units. You simply link it to your prime account as normal. I put the new Eco 4 in our family room thus no longer needing a seperate Alexa unit there. I put the older Eco 3 I installed in the spring in my garage to control the heating system I upgraded there last year. The nest smoke and CO combined units work great for sure. For those that haven't used them just beware they do a monthly sound-check which if you're not expecting can catch you off-guard for a bit. LOL!
-
Get the Ecobee 4. Far more robust and seemless to integrate. We have ours integrated into Alexa for complete control via voice. It's done an amazing job keeping the two upper levels of our home within 1 degree of one another even on the hottest days thanks to the use of multiple sensors.

Our contractor sub'd out plumbing to Eaton Plumbing and they did a great job. 614-891-7005. Tell them a customer of Cleary Co. Referred you as that may carry some weight considering Cleary feeds them a lot of work.

Kick ass sound system. If it doesn't have the best system available I will pass Sent from my Galaxy Note 8 using Tapatalk -
Looking for a nephew who is getting into working out but has limited space thus ideally looking for an quick adjust set simliar to the Bowflex but not limited to that brand. If you have anything in good to great condition that you no longer want, I'm interested. Thanks!

On the new car yes, on my trade we were close but not cigar. They called for a buy-figure from another dealer as they weren't going to keep my car on their used lot. When they do that both dealers tried and get a piece of a good-deal on my trade and I'm not going to stand for that. I grew up in the car business and know how that shit goes down. If they are going to step on my trade twice then goodbye. I don't need to do anything and if they want to roll a car they can do better. I'm going to look at other models at dealers I know will keep my car on their lot vs wholesaling it to someone else. I'm flexible and all over the place because I can be and this next ride isn't going to be a long term car for me either. Just going to keep it 2yrs or so until I pay off my wife's new car. That's the part the first guy lost out on as this could have been a two car sale. I was going to do the Explorer Platinum for me and this great looking Edge Sport for the wife. His loss, not mine. I just did the brakes on her van so we're going to keep it through winter now.

Tesla updates the roadster, 1.9 sec to 100km/h, 8.9sec quarter mile.

Mirrors can be replaced with cameras but I'm not sure if this prototype has them. The wiper.....they need to address that for sure and tuck it under the hood. -
again, pricing seems too high but then stranger things have happened. I'm going to look at them just to see.
-
that's one thing that jumped out at me too.

Key for me is to set my own hours and stick to it. Simliar to paying myself first. When I'm not traveling for work and am home, I'm done by 5pm at the latest and that's not really negotiable. I have a great employer and they value that too. I have time with family to wind down and with the wife we usually enjoy a glass of wine or a drink. Mornings are mine and mine alone. I wake from 5-6am and until 7am when the family is up, it's my personal alone time. I may surf, workout, watch a movie even, etc.

Problem is they aren't near $50k, especially with any of their packages of goodies added to them. Price wise they are IMO way way overpriced. Trey is going to look at the 2018 SQ5 but he was pretty firm the other day that no Audi's lease well. It was that way when I looked for my S4 thus why I ended up buying one with less than 8k on the ODO. Sounds crazy that they don't lease well but I'm sure VW is still hurting from their diesel McSteak or something. Who knows. In the end, once pricing goes above the $55k mark, regardless of make, lease deals and costs go through the roof. Many just aren't worth it IMO. So far the Explorer is the only one thus far to lease out so well.

didn't do anything yet. Before CR era for me I had a Trailblazer and before that a GMC Yukon. I'm not a Ford "fan" but the Fusion Sport I had was darn nice for a what it was back then. yeah but I wouldn't be happy with a 300. if i got a sedan it would have to be an upgrade from the S4 or I would feel I'm moving backwards. The interior of this one is far different from the limited though. Especially the seats. This is the top of the line Explorer. Under this is the Sport or limited but again, they have the generic interior. I would disagree. I just drove my Uncle's 2018 Jeep and UConnect was okay but Sync 3 is much faster and more intuitive. The other part of the Platinum is the other upgraded controls on the left/instrument cluster. It's unique to the Platinum.

I'll be the first to admit I'm all over the board when it comes to looking at what to replace the S4 with. It's a first-world problem situation for sure but hey, we live in a first-world country right? Wife will be due for a new vehicle next year and she may want to go back to a car vs SUV and certainly we're done with the real need for minivans. I have had SUV's and don't mind them but will for sure miss the Audi and all that it offers. It's by-far the best daily driver out there IMO. It's awesome but I do have an itch for something new and different. I've ruled out the Tesla's mainly because the S-Series is just too dang pricey for what I'm looking for from it thus the value to me isn't there. The model 3 is a year away and honestly, the inside just plain turned me off like a light switch. They need to glam it up a lot IMO. That said, I'm trading off some performance in exchange for a more commanding view/handling of the road and some creature features/posh effect. I have to switch it up vs another sedan or I'll feel I'm really shorting myself. At least IMO I would. Trying to keep it balanced cost-wise and this time given I don't absolutely love SUV's but like them, I'm probably going to do a short-term lease on this one. I'll take the equity I have and put it towards her car. That gives me some flexibility in say the next 2 years to move back to something performance oriented. Although I may have her in an Golf R and that would be fun. All said, this beast moves-out well for as big and heavy as it is. The 365hp/350tq Ecoboost is far lower in power than I'm used to but to move this sled to through a mid 14's quarter mile speaks a lot of it's galloping ability. Merging up hill onto the highway I moved into traffic with ease and looked down at 85+mph without even trying. I admit I'm impressed with the 3.5l version of it. Haven't exactly found a lot out there that makes me do my happy dance but the Ford Explorer Platinum Edition seems to check a lot of boxes and I know I'd like it. Tri-Color Pearl White with two-tone Nirvana Leather with Ceramic(nearly white)/Black combo. I think it looks outstanding inside. Not quite German Quality but darn nice and loaded with every feature from massaging seats to a great sound system. What say you on the Ford vs some others? I welcome any constructive opinions. Preliminary Pics: They really don't do the interior the justice it deserves but you get the idea. That truck looks amazing! Clay is going to be jelly when he sees it Nice find!!

to have an not abuse by choice > not having one. I use it daily though so next time you see me, catch me if you can.

I have ZERO interest in rowing gears anymore. My DSG allows for full manual control and connection to the car. It's way more consistent in performance and will shift buttery smooth when so desired. Want to snap necks APR's DSG Tune has a power mode that makes for super crisp shifting when in full manual and dynamic settings. Think video game control fun. Though I rarely if ever use it as it's not needed. Fun to have such an option though. On the street its just drop the foot and go like a fucking raging bull.

11.4 at 120mph all day long I ran mine at Edgewater a couple months back just to see what she could do vs my high 11's low 12's last year and had a blast. Come for a ride in mind and we'll have some fun. Best part is as a daily it's super smooth in terms of response. Pop it in Comfort mode and it will loaf along like an Avalon, Dynamic mode and she'll open a can of whoop ass. Man I struggle with decisions.....

Sent you a PM if you're interested as I am strongly considering selling mine very soon. PM me back. Performance wise, mine will eat up that RS5.

Agree. It's definitely more thought out. Meh...it's not the same as the fools in Congress talking about gun registration. To that they can fuck off. In terms of what Google and Tesla collect, I really don't care. can't speak to the details about wages or Tesla as I've not followed it. Wages and the talk of fair wages, etc. is something for a different thread. Agree on those two points. Agree. Agree a second time. IMO they need to look at it simliar to a phone and do some affordable leases that allow me to enjoy the tech and upgrade/mitigate my risk while at the same time locking me in for another new car. Their leases just don't work out mathematically for a car that seems to hold value rather well on the used market. On the used market for me the challenge is also that there's no alternative way to get into them that make sense thus why I'm not in one today. $80-90k for a used P85D or better is a bit more than I can justify when for that same coin or even far less I can find something to check a lot of my boxes. Honestly, an S6 or S7 with a simple software flash and I'm good. No Kool-aid here boss. That's my personality. I'm not afraid of hot trends and riding waves while they are present. Makes for a lot more fun life. What you call PR Nonesense is a market of people waiting to be tapped. It's no different than all those Hellcat and soon to be trackhawk owners or even those buying other $100k cars. You might not agree but then not everyone can have that much fun. No less boring than a Volt or CR-Z though but more practical and can at least be made to look nice.

You'd be buying a higher mileage older Model S if it's only $38k. Not likely a long range or AWD one either. No comparison between the two.
