My question is how much gold or silver could you have bought? Given we are not talking about stupid bullshit apocalypse stuff, I assume that would be of tremendous value?.... Now if that is covered by other means, then my opinion is good quality guns + tons of ammo > extreme arsenal of guns + less ammo.

Hell, if you've got the storage space sky's the limit! Sounds like 1000 per caliber is a good number, then if you have many guns of the same caliber you may want to go up from there. 1000 per gun does sound like a nice healthy amount.
