Apparently many use painters tape.... Technically it would work, and only costs a few bucks..... downside is you look silly on the freeway, but heck... I have always understood when I have seen some rolling down the road with a blue nose.... Unless it is just some slammed Jetta... get over yourself lol

A guy on the FJ forum used 'clear' contact paper... not sure about it at highway speeds though. If it keeps tree branches from gouging into the paint it would protect decently IMO

I have seen the same with Plastidip.... but that would require a LOT of masking on a 'show car'
