  1. Yea, I didn't even bother applying through them since this is my first car loan and I've only had a credit card for less than a year now. I tried going through Chase to finance about $10k of my Speed3, whom I've had my checking account through since I was 17, and they basically said no right away, and the guy said even if they would've approved me it would've been like 7 or 8 percent, something just stupid high. Went through a local credit union, first time I ever walked in, and they approved me at a 3.99% rate for a used car. My credit score, although I never ever carry a balance or have a late payment, is not very good yet because I haven't had it very long. They gave me a chance even with all of that, and the issue that I hadn't been at my new job for more than a few months.
  2. I can agree with that. I drove a $2k beater from age 16 through 23, then stepped up to something a little nicer. I still have a soft spot for beaters.
  3. So buying a foreign car is "regressing"? I think you got it backwards there bruh.
  4. I have a friend who went with Pentagon Federal, he is not military or government employee. If you aren't, you just have to pay them $20 or so as a one time fee to join an organization that supports military members, then they let you apply for a loan through them because you are a member of one of the supporting groups. Better hope you have damn good credit though.
  5. If techno was human, and it took a shit, and shit had a sound, it would be dubstep. :gabe:
  6. And Matt, I would add Cabana's to your list. 5 minutes from your location (Mentor Ave. and Hopkins, across from the Kia dealer) and they have great food and a decent bar too. Longo's has good italian food, as does Primozz (no shortage of italian places here, but nothing exceptional overall). If you're looking for a good place to hit up some bars, check out downtown Willoughby. Maybe a 10 or 15 minute drive for you, but there are a few decent bars down there and it's a really nice small downtown area. 1899, Ballantine, and Willoughby Brewing Co. are all worth checking out and all within a minute walk from each other. 1899 has 18 beers on tap (lots of interesting stuff) and you won't pay more than $4.50 at most for any beer on tap. Has a really nice bier garden thing that is also connected to Ballantine.
  7. Ah yea, I have never had their food but I drink there from time to time. They are a chain but I think it is only in NE Ohio. May need to stop there since Winking Lizard doesn't have bison burgers anymore and I think HB does. Yea they completely tore down Meximilian's to expand the Mitsu/Kia dealer. Which really sucks because that was one of the coolest buildings ever, especially for being in Mentor. I knew of the kids in the family that owned it.
  8. I live one town over from Kirtland. Just as an FYI, Kirtland and Kirtland Hills cops are NUTS. This town doesn't have a lot of people, and the median income is something over 100k, and the low crime means cops just look for people going 3 mph over, not having front plate, etc. Wouldn't recommend making that a stop on your tour unless you really like getting pulled over. To make my point, my neighbor once got pulled over in Kirtland because ONE of his two rear license plate lights was out. He got a ticket for this. Not a verbal warning, not a written warning, but a physical ticket which he had to pay for. What was the town near Columbus that used to be known for the dickshit cops, New Rome? Yea, this is the Cleveland version but with too many people to annex the town into Mentor. From someone who has had to put up with their shit for the last 8 years, I would really think again before ever driving through there in anything more noticeable than a Camry.
  9. Is Pier W the one that part of the dining room overhangs? Heard that place has a crazy view, what's the food/prices like for 2 people w/ drinks?
  10. Sounds a lot like Winking Lizard. Assuming you took Rt. 2 to Heisley, then went south over the big bridge until you hit Mentor Ave. then took a left, it would have been on your right (south side of Mentor Ave). About 5-10 minutes if you took the exit of Rt. 2. Was it on the far right end of a shopping plaza close to a Qdoba?
  11. I live in Mentor, let me know if you're looking for anything real specific. Melt in Cleveland Hts. is the best grilled cheese you'll ever have, with a great draft list as well. Brennan's has great seafood, as does Pickle Bill's right across the street, but it is more expensive and you're mostly paying for the seating on the water and the floating bar. Mama Roberto's on Mentor Ave. has really great Italian food and you get a lot for what you pay for, but the quality is still there. There is a good hot dog place on Route 44 going toward the lake if you're looking for a quick lunch, not sure if they have closed down for the year yet though. Check out Great Lakes Brewery downtown, or Willoughby Brewing Company which is one town over in Willoughby. Also there is Ballantine's in downtown Willoughby which has good food and beer (beer can get pricey though). If you don't mind chain locations, we have a Winking Lizard, Quaker Steak, DiBella's Subs, pretty much everything. What are you in the area for?
  12. Sirius is good, Pandora is a little better, but Spotify has taken over as my favorite music app. So much so that I pay the $9.99/month to stream on my phone, and I'm a pretty cheap bastard. Also, the song is good, overplayed but good. A few other decent songs on that album, but overall not much else you're missing with that band.
  13. Did you do the factory tour at Porsche too? That was my favorite part of the whole place. Museum was awesome but seeing the entire process of building a Porsche was amazing. Every single thing done by hand except placement of the windshield on the car. Also, the Mercedes museum is pretty cool. I'll see if I can dig up my pictures from when I went. Just driving in the vicinity of the factories is enough to see some really cool cars.
  14. Agreed. Definitely some good work there, but a few prints looked like something you'd see on the back of a t-shirt that some kid bought from Spencer's.
  15. Question is why didn't it happen a long time ago.
  16. Exactly. The point here is why spend $500 if you just use it to browse the web and send emails anyway, if you can grab the TouchPad for a hundo? I love the iPad but I know what I would use a tablet for, and I just don't see myself spending that much money to look at the internet for a few hours per day. I'll be impressed with HP if this turns out to be a massive publicity stunt.
  17. Give it a month and they will be all over ebay for $130, personally would not spend a penny more than $150 on this thing though.
  18. Ok I lied, got an email sayin they ran out of stock at barnes and noble
  19. My order on barnes and noble went through without a hitch. Estimated ship date of the 24th, this was done last night soon after they changed the price.
  20. Just picked up a 16gb from http://www.barnesandnoble.com for $101.95 plus shipping. They are still asking $599 for the 32gb but everything as of now seems to have gone through with my order. Might be worth checking out since everyone is going to try Amazon and Best Buy first.
  21. Whoever is better at exploiting capitalism. America has been pretty good at that but I can see China doing it better.
  22. On is generally used if you're talking about being on a surface, including an island. In is used for enclosed places, including town names or locations. So both could be correct if you aren't specifying how you are describing Maui. At would just sound fucking stupid in this case though.
  23. When you work at Dollar General, no one cares what is on your facebook page.
