  1. I'm pretty sure that they were first introduced in 2007. A lot of reviews I've read have compared it with the GTI, and said that while it's interior quality obviously isn't as good as the VW, it's still pretty commendable for a Japanese car. And one of the magazines (Car and Driver maybe? can't remember) got a 0-60 time of like 5.4 seconds and a 14 second quarter mile time. For the money, the performance is awesome. I'm still not sold on the styling, but it's growing on me.
  2. Funny that you mention this, my dad just traded in his Mazdaspeed Miata for a Mazdaspeed 3. He wanted something more practical in the winter (yea it's FWD, but still not cramped like the Miata). Previous to the Miata he owned a Mini Cooper S also, very nice and quick cars. They handle like they're on rails too. But for the price you can't beat the MS3. You can pick them up for around 23k or less for a brand new 2008 if you don't get the leather and other options package.
  3. It will show you when you get to checkout, but I don't think it's that much. I had to end up paying nothing for it because the website wouldn't accept my credit card (Verified by Visa is a pain in the arse). But I know I'll end up buying the discbox anyways, so they'll be getting enough of my money as it is.
  4. I don't care if you drive a Geo Metro spewing smoke everywhere, people still need to learn how to pay attention to other vehicles around them. Two lane turn + driver on cell phone=disaster.
  5. This is why I always try to be quicker through the turn when possible, without being a danger to traffic. So many people go through these turns without realizing that they aren't the only lane making the turn, so they just wander all over the road. And if I'm not the first car to go, then I make damn sure I pay attention to the other guy because it seems like almost 50 percent of the time they will take up part of your lane while making the turn.
  6. Well this should make it nearly impossible for the album to leak, because there won't be any pre-release copies for people to upload. And assuming they won't upload the files until right before it's available for download, I would be downright impressed if it leaked.
  7. I only knew because it's my favorite band and I check their blog/website every day, and when they announced it last night I nearly pissed myself. They had been saying up until now that nothing would be released until next year at the earliest, and for them to just come out and be like "uhh... oh yea, cd comes out in ten days" was unexpected. As soon as I have the money I'm ordering the box set as well. It's 82 bucks with the current conversion rate, but I am sure it will be worth it
  8. Radiohead just announced that their new album is done and it's coming out in 10 days. When you get to the website to pre-order it, they let you pick what price you want to pay to. Anyone else going to pick this up? http://www.inrainbows.com is the website for it.
  9. The problem with that is that the owner of the shop has to be there everytime there is a meet. Having a written document with permission helps, but doesn't always seem to work. So if there is a night when everyone wants to meet up and the owner can't be there, you could have potential problems. As I remember, up near Cleveland when we had Kinko's management give us permission to use their lot, we still had cops come in. Some bothered us, others just wanted to check out the cars. It's all about the right combination of attitude towards law enforcement, and keeping the ricers out. Or at least tell them to quit screwing around If you guys do end up with some new meeting places soon, I'd love to come out and check out everyone's cars. I won't be partaking in any racing, but I still like to hang out and meet new people.
  10. Google search brought up a ton of decoding sites, like http://www.analogx.com/CONTENTS/vinview.htm
  11. We had to call in to TW before it would work. And even though it works now it still likes to cut out a lot because it's third party. We just called and they told us to reset the router, then he did some stuff on his end and we had internet.
  12. Just drink Guinness, it doubles as a drink and an entire meal.
  13. For that substantial of an increase in pay, I'd go for it. That way you can get all your errands done on Friday afternoon while everyone else is stuck at work.
  14. http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t282/tbirdtommy/zdrh040.jpg Posting this on here for a guy in Erie, PA. Looks to be a very clean, well built T-Bird, thought someone on here might be interested. All information after the link: http://www.ashtabularacing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4177
  15. There is a small Miata meet happening next month here in Columbus, you have a PM...
  16. Give him a copy of any Colin McRae video game, then see which one he likes better. The problem is that you can't find anything BUT Nascar on basic cable anymore. Speed channel used to have some great rally programming, but that's all but over now. Maybe take him to some road races at Mid-Ohio next year?
  17. I wish I saved the link I had, but I read on a blog somewhere that they do this once or twice a year. They step up enforcement for a couple weeks to catch some of the guys that take it too fast, then they go back into hiding until next year. Hopefully I can make it down sometime soon.
  18. Tires are generally the number one performance mod to start with when you autocross, because usually stock tires are shit. Check out Tire Rack, they will show you everything that fits your car, and their customer service is better than most. It might be a good idea to get an SCCA rulebook, or at least find someone online who knows the in's and out's of SCCA classing. You'll have to make sure that the mods you make won't kick you out of the class you are trying to be competitive in. Springs already put you in STS if I'm not mistaken, and it's a pretty good class for people who want to do some mods but also keep their car for daily driving. I'm not sure what the Civic guys use, but I have KYB AGX 8-way adjustables on my Miata, and besides being a big improvement over OEM shocks, you also get the benefit of having a soft ride during the week, then cranking it up to a stiffer setting for autocross. Plus they are pretty affordable.
  19. Any pictures of the Model T?
  20. Please tell me this is a joke.
  21. I've heard from more than a few people that this really works well. My parents wanted to drop internet from their house because internet and cable were too much. Hopefully a call to Comcast/Time Warner/Wetakeyourmoney will help lower it a bit. BTW, how much does it help to get a package deal with phone, internet and cable TV from one company, versus separate companies? They have phone service from AT&T, but cable from Time Warner. Would it be better to get it all from the same place?
  22. Welcome to the longest next couple of months of your life. If it is really withdrawal, and with quitting 3 days ago it sounds like it is, it will slowly start getting better once your body stops craving the nicotine. But it will take a while.
