  1. Further along in the thread it's explained why a 4.8 would actually hold MORE power than the 5.3.
  2. :megusta: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcZgbZwBwmc
  3. The bend only occurs when the axle hits the bumpstop. Essentially it runs out of travel and punches the frame upwards. You're not going to achieve that kind of hit driving the kids to school.
  4. Gotta admit, after seeing that video, that's abuse. That rear suspension still uses LEAF SPRINGS for god's sake. It's not a swing-arm with coilovers like a trophy truck. They were going way too fast for that bump. The ford exec makes a good point that a recce needs to be done on any off-road course. Hell, we do that for our RallyX events that take place in a field. You have to know where the bad bumps are or you'll break cars. But then it's also up to the driver to slow down for those bad parts that can't be avoided. As above, a $100K+ trophy truck would have handled that bump with ease, but they aren't driving $100K+ trophy trucks. Much as I hate siding with "The Man", I have to agree with Ford on this one. If these guys want to run like this, a company should offer a swing-arm conversion. Then they can cut the back half of the frame off and get as much travel as they want.
  5. Some of those needed to be done.
  6. Thanks. I like to keep my mods "OEM-ish" so they're not too flashy. I am thinking to going down to just the Volk label on the rims though.
  7. Thanks for all the help. Looks like I'll recommend the XSPower kit. Would IPS tackle the tuning? Or is there a better shop for 2JZs?
  8. +1 I think both look good. And frankly, if it's my car, I don't care if other people think it's "played out". http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3059/2624954895_63c07d8fbb_b.jpg
  9. Ok, so a NA-T kit, headgasket, and studs. I've already told him that a headgasket at studs would be needed. I thought he;d need ot go to low comp pistons, but if he can hit his goals without cracking open the bottom end, that's a good thing. Where would be a good place to find the turbo kit and other parts?
  10. I forgot to say that's a rough crank hp target, not wheel hp.
  11. I have a customer that owns a '95 Lexus SC300 and he wants more power. He's thinking of turbocharging it with a target of around 400-450hp. What is the most cost-effective way to reach that goal reliably? He's a shop owner so doing internal work is not an issue, but he will need someone to tune it for him if there isn't an off-the-shelf option. Thanks.
  12. Cool. Always good to support a company like that.
  13. It's a collab with Subaru. It'll have a flat 4 2.5L, likely available as N/A with around 180-200hp and a turbo variant with around 265hp. (Essentially Subaru 2.5i and WRX motors, but it's not clear if it will use a side-mounted or front-mounted turbo.) It's also not 100% clear if it will arrive on US shores as a Toyota or a Scion. Subaru will have a version also. It will also be RWD however. The engine sits too far back in the chassis for the Subaru transmission to connect to the front wheels. Noone's sure if Subaru will be bringing it to the US though. Hopefully they will hit their weight target of sub-3000lbs. With the drivetrain layout, low CG engine, and "front-mid" positioning, it should be a very good handling car.
  14. I'm sure some of you already know about this site, but there are so many good stickers. I should add more to my WRX. :lolguy: They also have Track stickers, Tow arrows, and manufacturer logos too. http://www.ihatestickers.com/images/large/motorsports/other/IHS-C-MEANPIG_LRG.jpg http://www.ihatestickers.com/images/large/motorsports/other/IHS-C-FWDS_LRG.jpg Some here might like this one: http://www.ihatestickers.com/images/large/motorsports/other/IHS-P-MLSTRCRNT_LRG.jpg Here ya go, Jones: http://www.ihatestickers.com/images/large/motorsports/other/IHS-C-ESAUDIV1_LRG.jpg One for Farkas: http://www.ihatestickers.com/images/large/motorsports/other/ihs_c_dno_LRG.jpg
  15. What? No Joker? :lolguy: Catwoman will be in this too, played by Anne Hathaway. Interesting that this is supposed to be an END to the story. Hopefully they won't keep dragging it out (and down) like they did before.
  16. That sucks. Thankfully it didn't happen during filming. I like the show.
  17. Very cool. Too bad that helmet was pulling the kid's head around. I think he'd have had a better time if he wasn't trying to fight it the whole time. But what can you do?
  18. Ha! I should roll out with Tug and Jr on the trailer. :gabe: Unfortunately the race was really dry this weekend, so the car's only dusty not muddy.
  19. Repost, 100K, limited run. But still cool. I want one.
  20. This is all just a show for the public. As long as their wallets keep getting padded, they won't care and things won't change. Ask anyone; Democrat, Republican, Independent, Loneybin Inmate, Kindergarten Student, etc. and they'll say you can't save money by throwing it away. But yet our government doesn't understand that? Whatever.
  21. It might have had something to do with fuel pumps that can put a fire truck to shame.
  22. LOL, that's awesome. She tried to rope him in and failed. :gabe: The question her mother should be asking her is: "How many guys did you sleep with that you can't figure out who the father is?"
  23. Do you think these will help you break 7.75 on their own, or are these tires in preparation of adding more power?
