  2. Turn in your Evo's keys. Even women who drive Evos are manlier than you are at this moment.
  3. +1, I was about to suggest this one along with U-571

  6. Well, RallyCross tomorrow. Should be fun.
  7. Note to self: Do NOT sit in the passenger seat of an SRT-8 jeep that makes 900hp.
  8. Bolt-action is a no brainer for me. 1. It's more consistent than semi, and 2. REAL men fire bolt-action. Oh, I have no illusions about the gun making me an ace. Same as a Ferrari won't make me dominate at the track. That's not why I'm looking at the expensive rifles. I looking at the big stuff because I don't want to re-buy my rifle. As you pointed out above, I can shoot small with a big rifle, but I can't shoot big with a small rifle. From what I've read, and the advice you guys have offered so far, I think the sweet spot is the .308. It seems to come in a HUGE variety of types, including factory matched. Kind of like the Ford 5.0 or 350SB of ammo. It also can reach out to 400+ yards reliably so I can take full advantage of Briar Rabbit when I move up that far. So a .308 bolt-action is what I'm shoot for, if you'll exscuse the pun. At this point, it's a decision of what particular rifle to get. I like the fact that the 700 has a large aftermarket. My only worry is that they are know to throw the occaisional lemon. But unless I'm really unlucky, I could modify the gun as I go (adjustable stock being first mod). But, when the 700 is "finished" would I end up having paid as much as an AI-AE or a SAKO TRG? So that's the thinking I have to do first..
  9. Another reason why MBCs are bad is because Subaru has an annoying tendency to spec out the smallest injectors they can get away with. Ideally, you want your injector duty cycles to max out at around 80%. The STI and WRX come from the factory hitting 95%+ IDCs. With an MBC, it becomes VERY easy to max out the stock injectors. At which point you go lean and end up turning your pistons into golf balls. They're ok if the car is tuned for the setting, but most ricers can't help themselvs and start turning up the boost. They don't understand that you can't always HEAR detonation. They turn the boost up to get more power and think the car is running fine, when really it's eating itself slowly. True story: Early summer of '08, a guy approached me asking if I owned the two subies. I said yes, and he said he used to own an '07 WRX. "But the engine blew" and he rolled his eyes as if it were a common occurance in subarus. Then he goes on to give me his MBC, and a narrow-band(!) AFR gauge that was never even hooked up!! I just kept my mouth shut...
  10. Thanks for all the advice so far guys. For a handgun, I'm definitely going pistol. I appreciate the advice to go with a revolver, but I've handled pistols before and prefer them. For a shotgun, I really liked the feel of that 12ga I fired on thanksgiving. I'll probably be looking into something similar. The rifle will be a tough one though. I don't want to buy one and out grow it. But on the other hand, buying a rifle I won't outgrow is a huge investment if I don't get into it. Unfortunately, "sexy" equates to expensive when it comes to rifles. 11. Depends on which version and how it's set up. Considering the owner installed a MBC to run a paltry 15psi, I'm thinking it'll probably be set up for atmospheric dump.
  12. Out of curiosity, why a revolver?
  13. The WRX looks good. Though I question the wisdom of a manual boost control and an atmospheric blow off valve. The ECU is more than capable of controlling the stock turbo, and the BOV will make it go super-rich between shifts which can clog the cats, make it stumble, and cover the rear bumper in soot.

    Love?

    A Porsche 928 and a Subaru SVX? She's a keeper!
  15. Ok, that's what I thought. Much like saying a car is easy to drive. Any car is easy to drive, but some are a bit more ergonomic inside. I think I'd start right out with something a bit bigger for a rifle. I'm interested in long range target shooting, so I don't think a 22 long will work out. I'd be looking into a gun that can grow with me and eventually take full advantage of a range like the one at Briar Rabbit. So I'm thinking of something in a .223 or .338 caliber. More expensive, I know, but I like the thought of something that's functional as well as fun. I'd really like to get a hold of a shotgun that felt like the 12ga I fired this year. I don't know what it was about it, but it just felt right. I should ask my uncle if he remembers what it was.. For a pistol, I'm not sure exactly what I want in one.. I love the FiveseveN, but I hear they're hard to get and very pricey.
  16. What makes a gun "easy to shoot"? Seems like the mechanics are going to be the same for most any gun.
  17. OK, here's another question. The Blackwing site says their rifle range is 75'. Are there any ranges in the area that are longer? What if I waned to get into long range marksmanship?
  18. You mean they don't want to see my cool gun? It'll likely be in the trunk with a trigger lock and in a bag/case. This year I got to fire a couple real nice shotguns. One was my uncle's 20ga over/under with a single trigger. Nice solid feel. Beautiful too with some nice etching. But the one I loved was a flat-black 12ga semi-auto. It just felt "right". Got 3 of 5 with it.
  19. Are there laws prohibiting transporting guns across state lines? Say, would I be able to bring a shotgun to MA for the yearly turkey-shoot? (Skeet shooting, not real turkeys)
  20. lol. To be honest, I'm really surprised there isn't one needed. If for the simple reason that it's money the state/fed isn't getting. It could literally be like a driver's license, which is effectively meaningless.
  21. No license needed?? Wow. I'm not sure how I feel about that..... I may need to drop by a shop in the near future.. I hear Blackwing talked about pretty often. Do they have a showroom? Where's a good range to shoot at? Any shooting range etiquette I should know?

    Love?

I'm thinking I should try one of those personals sites and be brutally honest. Looking for a woman with big breasts; slightly overweight is ok. Needs to like and understand cars and/or computers. Brain as big as her chest a must; idiots need not apply. High math skills and the ability to read in a moving car without getting sick a big plus. ...etc... I'm curious if a profile like that would get any serious replies. It'd almost be worth it just to see what happens.
  23. Ok, I'm not a complete newb. My father collected guns, and as soon as I was old enough to fire them, he taught me how to use them safely. I enjoy firing guns, but I've never got into them for various reasons. Anyways, I'm curious about what someone new to guns has to do to legally purchase and fire a handgun, rifle, and/or shotgun. i.e. Any licenses needed and where to get them, and where and how it is legal to transport/store them. Thanks
  24. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3408761 Holy crap! He plans to keep coaching until he's 96!! Wow! Back OT: It's not a team's fault if the rest of their conference sucks. If a team is #1 in their conference, they should have a chance to play for the national title. I don't follow college sports much, so this might be a stupid idea, but.. The above article leads me to believe there are 11 conferences. Is it possible to reduce the number to 8 or up the number to 16? That way you could have the top team from each conference compete in a single-elimination tournament culminating in the top two teams playing for the title. Seems fair. A great team in a weak conference could still make it to the top without stealing a spot from a team that fought its way through a tough conference.
