The trick here is that this is a Ford TB on a Subaru engine. I believe the stock TB is smaller than 65mm. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, the Mustang TB sounds like it might be right. Now I just have to make my final decision and start experimenting.

45 degrees F is where summer compounds start to get too hard. So when the tempd dip consistently into the 40s is when I swap. This is usually in November. Though I always have them on by Thanksgiving because I drive to MA to visit family which takes me through either the snowbelt or PA's mountains. But they wear just fine. It's when the temps hit 50+ that snow tires will wear excessively. As for affordability, look at it this way: When the snows are on, you're not wearing out your summers, and vice-versa. You will extend the life of both sets by switching back and forth.

OMG.. It hurts... to laugh... LO-Fucking-L

And such great days it would be.. Bacon.. MMmm, Bacon. More bacon... MMmm, Bacon. Bacon! Bacon! Bacon! *ack!* *thud*

Strangely enough, yes. A friend replaced his engine and couldn't use the new intake. I'm thinking of Making it work, so it's still laying around.

..and solidified it. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/28/dining/28bacon.html?no_interstitial

No.. that's what sucks. No known pictures of the engine. I was hoping someone would have at least a couple suggestions. If it helps, the TB would be cable-actuated, and attach to the Intake Manifold by 4 bolts. It could possibly have a MAP sensor built in, but not an IAT sensor as I believe they had to plumb one into the IM.

Ok, so I have a difficult one for you guys. I'm strongly considering building a 2.5RS to run in M4, so I'm looking at other builds to get ideas. Well, on 25rs.com there is a thread from a tuner that got 300 crank HP from a N/A 2.5L. They're playing it close to the chest, but there are some hints. The most curious is the throttlebody. It's described as "a shinny Ford TB" that's 65mm. Unfortunately, not much more info has been found on this build, though it is definitely real. I'm not going to duplicate it, but the TB, IM, and tune supposedly helped a lot. Is this enough for some guesses? Thanks

A rear sway will help with rotation, a LOT. We can go to PMs if you want to discuss options.
-
As we stray further off-topic..... Does your class allow for a rear sway?

I'm tellin' ya.. Some snow machines and groomers and we could have perfect roads all winter.. Not to mention Darwinism in action. Here's hoping we get more snow.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3361/3237188494_07e76538ac_o.jpg You want to pull fuse #22. The other ABS fuse throws a CEL I think, and/or disables the cruise. It's tough to get to with the dash on, which is why I wired in a switch. I used some fuse inserts and wires with an in-line fuse to replace the one in the block. Then a safety switch (for looks ) and a DC power plug/socket so I could pull the dash off and leave the inserts in place.

I installed a switch to kill the ABS. Subaru's ABS is WAY too eager. It'll kick in at the slightest hint of slipping and then it won't adjust itself until the car stops. I hate it. So I have it shut off when I race or in the snow.

What size tires? I have some el-cheapos with plenty of tread left in 205/55-16

Both my Subarus get snows in the winter. Sure, I could get by with no-seasons and AWD, but I'd rather be safe and have the added control that dedicated snows give me. Jack-of-all-trades, Master of none. All-Seasons have to span a temperature range that's way outside what rubber likes. So they end up being too hard in the winter. Plus, to keep them from being torn up in the summer when the rubber gets to it's upper limits in temps, the tread design doesn't have the clearing capability that true snows have so they clog easily. The biggest advantage of snows over all-seasons? Stopping. No all-season can stop like a dedicated snow. Remember, you can be perfectly fine with All-seasons on snow. But that idiot that just went sideways right in front of you isn't, and you'll have to either stop or avoid him. Which tires would you rather have for that?

Probably a Brazilian Shemale that's tucking. Sam's laughing at all of you.

It's these people that need to be pulled over and spoken to by the cops. But will they? Not likely since slow is always safe!

I'm not even sure if the Arch Deluxe made it out here. I went to visit a friend in NY while McD's had the Arch Deluxe. We stopped at a McD's for lunch and things went a little odd. Me: "I'd like an Arch Deluxe please." Girl: "A what?" M: "An Arch Deluxe. You know, 'The burger with the grown-up taste?'" G: "Uhh, we don't have that." M: "Really? It's all over the McD's back home. Oh well. I'll take a Chicken Selects meal." G: "What are Chicken Selects?" M: "You're kidding, right? They're McNuggets but made from actual chicken pieces." G: "Uhh, never heard of them." M: "Just give me a #2 with a coke."

I play occasionally. It's fun and enjoyable. And you don't need to raid endlessly to have a capable character. I recommend the Justice Server. I'm more partial to the Villain side, but they've learned quite a bit from CoV, and Heroes is now a lot more fun to play than it was. If you do play, and want to listen to some tunes, goto http://justiceradio.net/ (the main reason why I recommend Justice server) and join the Justice Radio global channel. They often have good music, events, and helpful people. It's like a guild, but without the commitment, plus a soundtrack. As for the download, the initial download is tiny; it's essentially just the updater. Run the file and it'll set up the folders and setup the game.

Yeah, rotaries are great traffic devices.. if people know how to use them. But too many are just clueless. I hate it when people slow or stop as they try to figure out where to go.. IT'S A FUCKING CIRCLE! If you miss your exit, keep going around, it'll come around again.. I PROMISE! Another pet peeve is when people stop on the rotary to let others in. gods.. If I'm waiting to enter a rotary and someone stops to let me in, I won't move. Fuckers need to learn to drive. I'm from Cape Cod where rotaries are everywhere. (Yes, rotaries. There's only one "roundabout" but it was built only about 5 years ago. They're the same thing.) So I have seen about every piece of idiocy possible on a rotary. If someone can't figure out a circle, they shouldn't be licensed to drive.
-
+1 if the idiots aren't around. There's now four rotaries (the traffic kind, not the dorito kind) near my place. They're fun I really wish the roads would just stay snowy. Instead of spending money over and over on salt and salt substitute, ODOT should just get a bunch of snow groomers and keep the roads in an even sheet.

I miss the Arch Deluxe. That was a good burger.

Dunno about OH, but in MA it's illegal to have your hazards on while you are moving. But that's beside the point. Every time someone's had hazards on in the snow, it's because they are going SLOW. If you are THAT uncertain and scared of driving in the current conditions, do yourself and us other drivers a favor and STAY HOME. Trying to control a 3000-5000lb car on snow and ice is NOT something anyone should be doing if they are timid or indecisive. Ice does not suffer fools.
