  1. Yeah, I think I'll pass. 'sides, I'm not a fan of the C5. If I were to do the swap, I'd go with the Vorshlag kit. It's not out yet though, and I'm not quite at that point yet. Adding F/I to an otherwise stock N/A engine always has risks. When I bolted the supercharger on, I knew this might be the outcome. Though I was confident it would be more reliable...
  2. The sound of a LS might make up for the loss of blower whine.
  3. That kit has a very poor reputation on FT86Club. Cool as that would be, the extra 150lbs or so on the nose would change the car. And at that point, wouldn't I be better served by a Corvette?
  4. Cool, I'll bring out the BRZ... oh wait..
  5. Most of the oiling issues seem to involve slicks, downforce, and sweepers. But who knows? I just would have expected some signs of trouble at the event. I doubt I could get a good price for it as it is now.
  6. ZB is a good friend of mine. The car is at his shop now. Unfortunately, ZB is out of the country, so I won't have any answers for a couple weeks.
  7. 19,000 Vorshlag is working on a LS swap kit. But I really like how the car behaves with the motor and supercharger. And I don't think what I would get for the S/C kit + the cost of repairs would be enough to cover the kit+engine. The only cars faster were a C4 and C5Z, both had slicks and were trailered to the event. I knew this was a possibility. Adding FI to an engine with 12.5:1 compression has a very real level of risk. A lot of people have put TONS of miles on their cars with FI and been perfectly reliable. Guess I'm no longer in that group. I always could fix it, go back to N/A, sell the S/C kit and car and use that as a down payment on a M4.... But I know I'd regret selling it.
  8. Went to the Corvette Troy AutoX at Kil-Kare today. Very small turn-out, but it was a lot of fun. I really like the result of the suspension tweaks I've been doing. So, 60 miles to the event. 14 40+second runs. 58 miles home, and as I'm pulling up to a stop light, the engine shuts off and smoke comes from under the hood. No warning, no CEL, no oil light, no overheating, no catastrophic sounds, just a loud ticking. Pop the hood and there's oil under the passenger side of the engine (no external oil lines there either, so I can't wait to see where it came from.) More than likely the engine is toast. Now to figure out what to do with it. So that was my day. How was yours?
  9. Part of that is how Bernie runs things. A lot of the drivers are more than willing to meet with and talk with fans. But the fans rarely have the opportunity to cross paths. One of my favorite stories is about Kimi Raikonnen. The team he was on at the time was gearing up for the start of the race and it came down to the point where they had to get him into the car and he was nowhere to be found. They finally track him down and he's sitting on a fence near the concessions eating icecream and drinking a coke. Not only does it show just how little the pressure of a F1 race effects him, but it also shows that he's perfectly ok meeting the fans on an equal footing. Daniel Riccardo is another driver that likes to mingle with fans, and Fernando Alonso often goes to amateur karting events for fun. I think the whole aloof things, while certainly can be attributed to some drivers, is mostly due to how F1 handles fan's access to the teams. According to Bernie, if you want to see a driver in person, you better pay $$$.
  10. Fucking people cheering the crash..
  11. I want to get to an event next Sunday 7/12. I'm thinking the Corvette Troy event since I haven't raced at Kil-Kare yet. I just have to finish setting the BRZ up and getting a good alignment done.

I use my XBox One controller. You just need a USB cable and drivers from Microsoft.
  13. Why Ford? Why are you making cars now that are so enticing? I've had such bad luck with domestics, but you keep trying to pull me back in!
  14. I like it a lot.

  16. I'm not much of a truck guy so... Subaru?
  17. I don't think any engineers designed the 500L. I think the marketing guys just took the computer files for the 500 and just grabbed the corner tool and made it bigger.
  18. This past week I've put about 2000 miles on my GF's Tiguan. Makes me miss my Audi.
  19. Fiat? I'd cozy up with a company that successfully makes small cars so both companies could share tech. NOT a company that makes big heavy cars with huge engines, the exact opposite of my company. Fiat and Mazda are a match made in heaven. Share a couple cars to broaden Fiat's lineup and Mazda sells more cars to people looking for a Euro badge instead of a Japanese badge. Bonus: Fiat can cite Japanese reliability to counter their "Fix It Again Tony" reputation. And if things go REALLY well, a re-badged Miata would be the rebirth of Fiat's roadster history.
  20. Been talking with RCE about the BRZ. They gave me some suggestions to try out. I'm sure I won't be beating a car on slicks, but I hope to be closer.
  21. Turned 40 this week.. still prefer stick.
  22. The way things are going, people are looking for a reason to go looting. This would be a good reason to start a riot so they can get a new TV.
  23. A long (2 hour!) presentation by the lead cinematographers of Mad Max: Fury Road on the challenges of shooting the film. https://vimeo.com/127381179 (don't know why it's trying to embed..)
  24. I have a feeling the turbos didn't have impellers. I don't see wastegates. And the original blower in Mad Max was fake too. I'm sure the vehicles ran + drove. But I think I'd bet on the turbos and blowers being gutted.
