Gotta start somewhere. Honestly though, there are points on our drives that are more dangerous than any RallyX. Points where if you go off, there's no recovery and a long fall bouncing off trees. But really, I've seen Auto-Xers with roll bars and cages. The only thing they have to worry about is hitting a rubber cone or spinning out. ROlling over or getting T-Boned isn't even a concern. I think the cage might be a little overkill now, but who knows what the rest of the year holds? I'm also going to be doing HPDEs and maybe I'll decide to do TTs in the STI.

So THAT'S where chicken McNuggets come from!

Tell me those aren't the original rims. Please tell me that you don't pay over a quarter million dollars for a car and they can't be bothered to make right and left directional rims. btw, how much to paint or low temp powdercoat a set of rims?

6.3.P Snell 1995 (SA95, M95, K98) or newer labeled helmets are approved for use. This is a minimum standards for use in RallyCross, other approved helmets are: 1. British Standards: BS 6658-85 type A/FR, including all amendments. 2. SFI Foundation, Inc: SFI Spec 31.1 If your helmet doesn't comply they have tons of every size available.

I had some friends that were really sick the last couple weeks. Seems it might have been a mild case of pneumonia, and your symptoms sound similar. Pay attention to your lungs. If one seems to lag behind the other when you breathe, go to the hospital.

If you might like to play in the dirt, come to National Trails the 29th. You don't have to drive. It's free to watch and ride with someone; you just have to sign a waiver and wear a brain bucket which you can borrow from the bins if you don't have one. Hell it's only $45 for non SCCA members to drive. You can probably talk your way into co-driving someone else's car.

I had to use a Pay 'N Spray. THe owner gave me two bucks to hose the bay down when I was done so he could go home to his wife. I can image what he thought as he was getting ready to go home after a busy day and saw my car roll up. I think my car is sitting higher on the springs now.
-
Grr, I went to hose off today but all the carwashes were 3 or 4 cars deep waiting for the bays. I'm going to have to wait for tonight to blast the mud off. On the lighter side, I thought I'd take some pics next to a neighbor's truck.. I blanked out his plate because I didn't exactly ask his permission. I might slip him copies of the pics and ask where he goes mudding. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2198/2304862851_367d42628a.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3165/2305661698_d66f611285.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2202/2304865841_1d12053bd6.jpg

Bought mine used with 93K miles. But I'll tell ya this: You can get an old GC 2.5RS for much cheaper (5K or so), and those things are some of the fastest out there. (Top place last RallyX was a stripped out N/A 2.5RS). With the low traction and lack of good straights, it comes down to driver more than car. You don't need a turbo to be fast in RallyX. Also, RallyX is easier on your car than AutoX. The low traction means less strain on your car. The only thing you need to worry about is ruts. But if you're not trying for 1st, there's no reason why you can't go slow over the ruts, or go around them. And if ruts do start to form, the organizers will adjust the track on the fly so you can drive around them.

It was REALLY muddy: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2177/2302941555_53c7a2a9e0.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3291/2302937291_222a61874a.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2214/2302943589_ca21ceb875.jpg Next RallyX will be March 29th at National Trails, Lot F. You too can be this dirty! (SUVs and other topheavy vehicles need not apply)

Every hot new car gets totaled right after release. It's like there's a group of people out there who's only purpose is to destroy the hot new cars to upset the fans who love them. The Viper, STI, GT-R, Z06, Enzo... Always a thread of one getting totaled right after product launch.. Just wait for it, there will be a ZR1 totaled a month or two after they hit show rooms.

anyone who thinks megan fox isnt hot, think again!!!

Looks like nutritional information. She looks too much like one of my cousins, and I wasn't born south enough to hit it. -
That's too bad. He contributed a lot to modern hotrods a long time ago. But he shouldn't have turned it into such a bg business. Watching the TV show, he really wasn't cut out for it, and I'm sure the stress of it didn't help.

November 2007: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2196/1831476138_be4f610952.jpg January 2008: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2205/2200446643_bf185cb1f1.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2065/2200451733_7d0ea8fc1a.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2176/2201246196_ca4e556f94.jpg I figured I could get through the winters if the roads were like they are in MA. But this much crud and corrosion in just 2 months is unreal. I'm surprised the WRX still is in one piece after 5 winters. As it is, I've been doing work on it and bolts are either fine because they were sealed, or one solid piece with the nut. I want to be buried in my STI, so it has to last. I'm not scared of rain, just salt. The STI will be out and about all spring/summer/fall. The WRX will be doing work miles and RallyX/offroad during that time.

I don't normally name my cars. In the past I've had "The Pulsars", "The T/A", "The Buick", "The Mark", and "The Toyota". But since I got vanity plates for the subies, they've gained names. So now I have "Grip" and "Junior".
-
Now if only they would STOP WITH THE SALT! Sheesh.. There's more salt than asphalt on the roads. When the roads dry, cars will kick up salt dust into the air! They should cut it with sand. The winters here are much like Cape Cod, and there's no salt use on Cape Cod. It just sucks to see the salt crust all over and under my cars after driving on these roads. I had planned to DD the STI all winter, but after seeing what just 2 winter months of ODOT roads did to the undercarriage, it's sitting in my garage until it warms up.

Remember that you're not building boost normally. You're just building wastegate pressure, and doing it wth very little load on the engine. So there has to be enough resistance through the WG for the turbo to start building boost. Most LCs I've seen for the STI/WRX are around 4500-5000rpm.

COS has weekly meets that change from Friday to Saturday, and sometimes location. The trick is to have one "official" person make the thread at the beginning/middle of the week. Then people can post if they intend to arrive. But if one person becomes known as the proper organizer for this, it should cut down on copycat threads. As for the C&C meets, I think it's a good idea. Grated it'll probably be just "Old Fogeys" but that can be a good thing too. The ricers will certianly be too busy sleeping. I'd show.
