  1. A C&D review: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2017-audi-rs5-tdi-diesel-prototype-drive-review
  2. At 0:19, was that a jet of fuel that ignited a second later?
  3. It's funny. I used to ride all the time when I was young, then stopped riding when I got a car. About 8 years ago I picked up a bike to hopefully get some exercise, but hardly rode it. Then I got together with my girlfriend a couple years ago and we started riding regularly. While I liked going on rides with her, it wasn't until I got this trike that I started looking forward to riding again. We were going to go for a ride today, but she had to cancel. This is the first time I thought about going on a ride by myself since I was a teenager. I can't put my finger on what it is about this thing that I find so enjoyable.
  4. Here's a descent on a trike similar to mine: From another forum:
  5. The velomobiles can really get moving. On flat ground weight doesn't matter as much as aero for top speed. So they are super slick with really big gears. I think the record is around 93mph for a purely human powered vehicle.
  6. He only wants some of the wax removed from the stripes?
  7. Not excessively so. There's an idler under the seat for the power side of the chain, and a plastic (PTFE?) tube that helps guide the slack side. There's no chain slap and very little drag. But some people have upgraded to Teflon tubes and a return idler. I may do that in the future for fun. I get constant old man jokes from my girlfriend these days. But my neck feels better. And my shoulders don't ache, and my seat doesn't get sore. It's like piloting a lawn chair. On days I feel too cool I can put the flag up and rein it in.
  8. Couple guys putting together a friendly race and a Lamborghini shows up... I like to ride with plenty of water. I'll sweat like crazy and the wind will blow it away so I won't know how much I'm sweating. So I just drink a lot to keep ahead of my losses. That said, I only used 2 on the road bike. I went to three on the trike because it looks better with two bottles behind the shoulders instead of just one. I may remove the one on the boom.
  9. Cool. From a dig? The physics of popping a wheelie in that thing hurt my brain... and legs.
  10. Not at all. When I was younger I was in the ER at least 4 times for accidents. And now, after years of driving, I want even less to do with riding on the road. Too many dipshits with phones.
  11. I don't plan on seeing many road miles, to be honest. Drivers do tend to give trikes greater space, but I don't want to test that. My girlfriend and I stick to trails, so hopefully I won't have to worry about being flattened beneath some idiot texting.
  12. Well, it was either this or rollerblades. I figured if I was gonna do something, I might as well do it right... :lolguy:
  13. Sea Sucker trike rack 1000lbs of holding force for a 33lb trike. Cranks front. This is often referred to as a "tadpole" trike because it has two wheels up front. If it had two in the rear it would be a "delta". I could have gone with a two wheeled recumbent, but I think the trikes are neat. It's like a go-kart that runs on calories.
  14. Well, since I made my slow ride fast(er), I thought I should get another slow one. Max speed 50mph+... ..down hill.. ..if someone better than me is driving it.. Yeah, I'm a dork. But dammit, this thing is fun to ride and tinker with. And it doesn't aggravate my neck, which was the main reason why I picked it up. It's a 2014 Catrike 700, reputed to be the fastest stock trike. The fact that it is US built is nice too.
  15. Imagine a sports car rolling coal on a pickup. Lol
  16. http://valvehalla.net/2014/07/the-best-thing-to-come-out-of-audis-le-mans-program-for-8-years/ 553 lb-ft of torque, electric anti-lag, and it probably gets great mileage too.
  17. Plan your financials well. If you get a student loan you might be paying it off until nearly retirement. Otherwise, it's never too late to improve yourself.
  18. Now that you know when you're over-driving the car, next event dial it back quite a bit and under-drive the car a bit. Then on each consecutive run try braking a little later and getting on the gas a little earlier.
  19. Saw this in the chat box, thought it should be posted here. Results: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AukF6iNtp5yVdGwzWFhKOFg0VVFDZDYzV2dNMmVKQWc&usp=sharing#gid=35
  20. Because it was the powerplant in the Coyote X. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8327/8100978572_6a2184c09b_o.jpg :gabe:
  21. Thanks man. Just a few tweaks to be done, but I'm so happy I chose that blower. I hope to make it out to more AutoX events, but it's tough working them into my schedule. I want to make it to at least one SCCA AutoX, and I hear the UFO events are pretty cool too.
  22. I'm surprised how well the car did for its first competition. That blower is perfect. I was worried that when the moment of truth came it would come up "Meh", but it was exactly what I wanted.
  23. Great day. Great fight with Aaron. Pounding headache. There was a noise coming from the front right on the way home. I thought Jones had jinxed me with his talk of pad noise. About 3/4 of the way home I pulled into a parking lot to check. Luckily there was a speed bump at the entrance. When I went over it I heard a CREEEK! "Wtf? Is my strut messed up? Wait... I know that noise!!" Front right lug nuts were loose. Snugged them up, and disaster averted. Whew!
