Thanks.

Thanks man. It’s been a lot of work but it’s been worth it and the weather has been perfect for the couple weeks since I’ve been able to drive it.

My wife made me stop while we were out for a drive over the weekend. I finally worked out all the bugs in the brakes so I can finally take it out on the mountain roads away from the house. It’s rediculously flat through hard corners and super stable after adjusting the coil overs 50 times. It needs more power and a different transmission to make it really fun. I’ve been figuring out if I want to try the cheaper route with a used 5.3 with a supercharger or a built 6.2 na for now and maybe a supercharger later if I “need” it. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=9902

If it’s just a flat piece of steel that needs to be bent/broke into and angle it would probably be pretty cheap per piece. If it needs to have ribs stamped into it or something that takes special tooled stamps not so cheap. If the part you have has been stamped could you just make it out of thicker material that doesn’t need it to keep costs down.

We went the weekend before my wife’s birthday which is the first week in August. It hailed on the way up and snowed 1/2” while we were on top for 45 minutes. It was more than 95 that day at the house. There were more than 10 of the white mountain goats hanging around. I could see the brakes catching fire on the way down but I don’t know why a newer car breaking down unless it over heated. My 95 t100 has been up both of them probably 6 or 7 times. At least twice with 3” of sludge in the radiator before I flushed it out and replaced the radiator.

It totally is and I’m not saying it’s bad and don’t do it. The drive and the views are awesome. I’ve been there 4 times in 5 years(thanks COVID). I just prefer Mt. Evans because there are places to get out along the drive up and it’s less commercial because it’s not privately owned. Plus the back way out 74 to Squaw Pass to 103 is a rediculously twisty drive. Although 24 out to Pikes peak is no joke either. Before I moved here the only thing I remember about Mt. Evans was it’s the highest paved road.

Agree completely. It’s why I don’t do anything in the city besides work.

They’ve pretty much ruined it in my opinion. The drive up is cool but you’ absolutely will be stuck behind some old lady going 5 mph that’s scared to death of the heights. They’ve paved the entire top and built a giant tourist trap gift shop. Mt. Evans is way better in my opinion, still rugged and what you’d expect going to a place like that. Either way you have to get reservations about a month ahead of time to go to the top. Pretty much everything tourists go to has a reservation system now. I’d say rent a jeep or sxs and go off-roading somewhere an hour or 2 from the city. We go off-roading almost every weekend. It’s awesome the places you can just jump in the truck and drive to. There’s trails all over too. If you’re into hiking there are random trails pretty much everywhere you go and they’re all good and go to some amazing places. We did this when my wife’s sister brought the kids out. I thought it was pretty cool but I don’t know if a bunch of dudes for a bachelor party would enjoy it. Lots of kids and families. Also it’s not just a show up and do it kind of thing anymore with the reservations required. If you’re staying around the city the rino district is where all the hipsters drink craft beer. There are a lot of breweries in the area. Denver chop house has amazing steaks that are a $75 instead of $150 per meal like a lot of the steak houses that aren’t any better. There’s way more I don’t know about because I don’t hang out in the city much. It probably would have been a better idea to plan more than a day ahead.

How long are you going to be here, and do you want to do things in the city or out in the mountains.

Tell me Facebooks back up without telling me Facebooks back up.

Yeah, and the dingdongditch, one word, cute attempts to troll. Also probably frustrating.

How many of the people that he responded to are in the “I did my own research on vaccines” camp, and are now getting their information on this subject from an illegal street racing forum, and from a guy that they argue and totally disagree with about subjects just like this. Sounds frustrating to me.

It sucks that it’s so far away because every time one of these threads come up I find 20+ cars that fit the bill in a 15 minutes search on FB. Plus they’re all so rust free it’s rediculous. I’m still not used to seeing 80s 90s and 2000s cars with zero rust anywhere. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3932889273481924/ https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/394041235441036/ https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2983863231931009/ https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/549194109680294/ https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/559040241954263/

Ken Browns auto service on Maple Avenue. It’s right where Maple turns into the ramp to 70.

This is the biggest thing I miss about Ohio. No one here knows anything about their own car let alone any other car. I’ve been lied to so many times by owners of cars here because no one else even knows that they’re lying. Everyone drops it off at a shop and pays more than the car is worth to have someone else do everything for them. There’s at least 1 C&C every weekend. About half of the people that take their cars just put a folding chair by their cars and don’t even walk around to see the other cars. Each type of car parks together and exotics get their own area where they double park. It’s pretty disappointing as a car guy to see that kind of “car guy”. When I moved out here I went to all of them I could but I don’t go to many anymore because of this.

You need more cars.

I ran 11.60@115 as a dd and never really wanted to push it to go any faster but I could have. My truck probably had at least 1500 pounds on yours. You could easily make more power. You could have a 10 second truck easy if you wanted to.
-
I’d bet it’s got a lot more in it if you haven’t tuned for e85. You can really throw the timing at it. I love fast trucks. A hydroboost brake booster instead of vacuum made a bigger difference in brakes than all other brake mods combined on my turbo truck and I did everything. Brake boosting from a stop was what was effected the most. Mine would just push through once I got to around 6-8 psi.

I can’t wait to get it done so I can get it out on some twisty mountain roads to rip on it. Then I can figure out what I want to do to the interior. It has one speaker in front of the shifter with an AM radio so a sound system is going to be the first things I start on.

Thanks. I’m kind of proud of myself. Here’s another angle. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=9794

I finally got all the parts for the rear end. Got it all put together after work all week. Picked up the wheels and tires on Tuesday. Today I got the brakes done as far as I can, because I’m missing one fitting. I still need to get the pinion angle perfect, and adjust the ride height 10 times until it stays. Then get an alignment and break in the new gears. I think it looks awesome. I’m super happy with how it sits and the wheels look great. It needs a bath and a wax soon. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=9789 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=9792

Yesterday I took everything to do with the stock rear suspension out of the car. When I bought the car there was a set of multi leaf springs in the trunk so I bought new bushings and had already put them in the car so everything in there was never driven on. It came apart quick. I ended up painting the top half of the housing and the brackets when I started so it would be dry. I didn’t think about how heavy the housing was or I would have asked for someone to help. Getting the top bars into the brackets was a bitch because it absolutely would not balance on the jack with only the bottom bars bolted in. I wrestled it up in there but I’m pretty sore today. The new brackets for the disk brakes replace the existing brackets on the rear end that holds the axel bearings so I have to wait to put them on. I called quick performance to ask about when my center section would be shipped because they told me 2 weeks ago it was going to be done soon. Everyone else is paying the extra $200 to get theirs put on the top of the list so they were pushing mine back. I bitched a little and got them to make it that day and shipped it. Tracking says it will be here Monday so I’m excited about that. I called and asked about my wheels and tires. The tires are here and the wheels should be Tuesday or Wednesday and will be mounted and balanced waiting for me to pick up. Old junk. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=9774 New junk. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1012&pictureid=9778

I thought that big orange Lincoln was part of the add for a second. Lol It sucks that one person ruined this for everyone but I’m glad everything got sorted out and now maybe it will be bigger and better. I always had a good time going to these and would be pissed if I couldn’t make it to something involving cars at least once a month. Good work Clay and everyone involved.
