Comments/opinions on a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ

My dad bought a 2007 Avalanche back in late 2010. Had 53,500mi on it and it has been 100% trouble free and comfy as hell. I personally have put a good 30k on it in the past 18 months moving and driving cross country for family issues. The only thing that even remotely has begun to need replaced are the tires, brakes and currently the LF wheel bearing is speaking up. It is so quiet in that truck that you have to be absolutely quiet to hear it. Overall it has been an amazingly stable truck. Stabilitrak will make sure your wifey stays safe. You can disable it by holding traction off till it flashes stabilitrak off(8-10 sec.) then you are drift king in the snow. His truck has auto 4wd and when I drove to Kansas in the snow almost 2 years ago, I was averaging 75-80 mph on 2-1/2 inches of snow (Not saying you should, but you can(late night and during snow emergencies, lol)). It is so sure footed. On the same deal as the last paragraph, it drives so smooth that you MUST keep an eye on your speedo, you can be cruising at 85 and not even think it - the harshness is not there like in some other vehicles. The 5.3l does well, I towed my fathers boat down here earlier this summer and it laughed at the hills down 77 (and gas gauge laughed at me). TL, DR? My father has one, I drive it a lot cause he is lazy. I would buy it off him in a heartbeat. Except it is a 4spd with 4.11 gears and they now have 6 spds (thanks Cordell) with lower 3.xx gears. Gas economy is not extremely good, but the only time you will care is at the pump. -
I am down, I have some quick cars. However, if anyone has some they don't want/need, I will take them.... lol. I can do any class you want.

To grasp the percentage of charge, you need to understand how electricity works. The available amperage is directly related to state of charge. Earlier you said 11.9v sounded sufficient but technically it won't be. 6 battery cells at 2.1v are not 'charged' enough below 12.6v and the strength falls off very steeply thereafter. To be direct, just replace it and stay away from optimas. How long have you had all of your extra electrical modifications installed? Do you actually remote start your vehicle?

Flash Player 11.4 kept crashing on me, I got 11.5 the other day and no problems yet.

I suppose a large amount of text can confuse people. I am asking you to read my original post again, while understanding that I quoted posts for a reason. You might see that the two largest paragraphs, were unnecessary but gave an example as to why I don't agree that you should record encounters for reasons of trolling. I support the process of people showing their legal rights, especially in ways that cannot be misinterpreted. Did I bother to look and see if any of the original vids posted were by someone who is trolling for reactions - no, I did not. The condensed point of my post, was that I completely support peoples' rights, however I do think that unfunnyryan's post was stubborn. Tim's quote from the first page I agree with in the sense that you don't have to stone wall a conversation. You can comply, I understand you don't have to. **Let me reiterate, I have only read the responses on the very first page and the ones I am replying to. Consider that if you care to respond.** ----------- I will take a moment to include an apology for the way you have comprehended my words. Along with that, I am sorry to hear about the circumstances of which you have lost those who were close to you. ----------- I know you don't say so directly but I do get the feeling that you included this statement because you assume I have not. Please correct me if I am wrong and no it did not offend me, because I know you don't know anything about me. Again, like with sol740's statement, I am not offended, for you don't know me. Please consider the fact that just because some people don't publicly tell their life story, does not mean that they have not experienced or don't know anything about things.

If you have done nothing wrong you should have nothing to hide... I guess removing dangerous drivers from the road is a pretty big inconvenience. +1. I only bothered with page 1. I am 100% for your and my own rights. The thing you need to understand is if you have rights, they have rights. You are not better than any other citizen by your 'rights'. Personally I do feel that when people go out of their way to cause a problem, they are not helping anything at all. Examples like this, open carry videos and other police encounters are generally posted on youtube because the uploader is purposely trying to get a person of law to act out against them. I see it regularly, 20+ videos of people purposefully doing something that would gain police attention and then persistently act un-cooperatively. Before you jump on me, I fully support asking for detailed information of officers and even having a way to audio or visual record the encounter. If it is for your protection then is has no business on youtube. I can tell you that these people who post a whole lot of police encounter videos to youtube are not 'exercising their rights'. They are searching for the one golden moment where they get laid out for being un-cooperative. IF any of you who preach against checkpoints had a drunk driver injure or kill someone you love or even yourself, you wouldn't be so damn stubborn. It's a simple question, 'Have you been drinking', 'No', 'Have a nice night'.

Edited for Accuracy: I saw another member's car after it was at Clifford Automotive and heard their explanation of the events to a sub par job. After speaking with Anthony about it, it happened to be a bad batch of basecoat that caused noticeable imperfections. Along with that information Kevin has apparently offered to fix the paint, as he did for Anthony. I do regret that my original post contained statements based on only part of the story. Most have recommended Kevin and I only had one reason against him, which was skewed. At this point I have not reason to steer anyone away from him. I personally have had great experiences with Achbach in Westerville and Don's Automotive in New Alexandria, OH. -
Cam Decisions (Shouldn't have made mine so fast)

The other thing you should invest in is some updated suspension components. Are you still on 100% stock parts? They will not support consistent results with more power and depending on how worn out they are, may be unpredictable. I am just looking out for your safety in your quest of speed. -
So what's with the Automotive Service market?
Steve R. replied to Cordell's topic in The Meat Market
Yeah, I never knew Ed's last name either, I believe he was the warranty process guy before that. Well I am not sure of her name, she was there mid summer of 2010, I think it may have been a trial run. I remember her wearing one of those pink tube style dresses that came down mid thigh and heels. Ask Jeff Earley about it, he would remember her name. -

Haha, Duff switches between writing and selling often. Looked at the staff page, I am assuming it is not current, with only three full time guys. Ian, Darrell, Brian, Keith and Nick would all have been flat rate (all had connections with that store since it was Donley). It sucks that you guys are short on employees. When you say fixing previous managers mess, I know there was Greg Howard, then Dan Davis. I would not have figured Dan to mess things up, although he was running the Delaware Ford and Downtown Chevy stores at the same time. Was there, to your knowledge, another manager between Vic and Dan? It looks like most of the staff is still there, except for the Sales woman who wore skimpy clothes to sell cars. Someone needs to tell Kevin to roll his collar down for photos... -
Cam Decisions (Shouldn't have made mine so fast)
Steve R. replied to Fubar231's topic in Passing Lane
Well in order to do that, you need to decide what you are using the car for. Don't think of the 228r as a weak or small cam because of what I plan on using it for. It is 'small' but in all honesty it is a well rounded middle of the road cam. It makes power every where but you won't be making a 500+ hp car either. If you are keeping your Camaro for a while now (I saw where you were thinking about getting rid of it), consider swapping to a higher displacement or a more 'factory capable' motor like a used LS2 or LS3. -

Steve R. replied to Fubar231's topic in Passing Lane
I am sure heads make the biggest difference after/during a cam swap. It comes down to what you plan on using your car for. Drag racing or generally running it way up in rpm thru the gears - MS3. Its not a bad cam, but the power is going to be up higher. I was reading on LS1Tech, People say the 228r and torquer are about the same in total horsepower. The 228r has more low end torque, where as the v3 doesn't really make power till 4,300 rpm. Personally I am looking into the 228r or one similar when I am ready to buy. However my car is on its way to becoming a touring/autox car. -

Wow, who all did you guys lose? I know Steve Woods left a while back, but I have not spoken to anyone up there in about a year. The deal with the warranty, is you have to be certified in what ever 'specialty' area to complete work. Being that you are a master technician with years of experience, they would possibly just have you complete the online training modules. They are not hard, just time consuming. They will let you work on cars without Ford certs, but certified techs will get the warranty. When I was there, they had a lot of diesel service and then normal mid size / compact vehicle service. I know that it does get slow at that shop over the winter, However that was with 5-7 Technicians there (shop is rather small). If Sam and Duffy are still there, they are certainly experienced and manage to sell a lot of things at drop off, that you would have to ask a newer service writer to sell. With fewer techs it may stay real busy over the winter... -
I always wondered if this was possible. Link included because it is an 'Unlisted' video, as of when I submitted the thread.

I imagine that these have been seen already by some of you. They had me :lolguy: -ing.

I believe you all have previously met bluemach?

+1, they are great guns and they are excellent carry options with factory nite sites and the way that the safety works. Ramsey - Glad that you like it. The p238 I had was right hand control only. I have seen reviews from left handed shooters that say it is not hard to operate lefty. Although, per Sigs website, you can get the p238 SAS with an ambi safety. It shot well for such a small gun, with a DeSantis pocket holster it is incredibly concealable. Only reason I got rid of it was for a M&P 40c, after shooting a friends. I will say that the p290 looks like it would be a great option as well.

You are completely correct, I didn't bother to look if the year was posted in his info. In for JuicedH22 to come in here and swing his e-dick over missed information.
-
No problem. If you have the means to, then that would be amazing for your car. I just know it has been easy to put it off in my situation. I would still recommend an ls6 intake if reasonably priced.
-
You are way too proud of yourself.
-
It will depend on what you consider wasting money. I can tell you that a set of gears for your car will be under $300. Install will vary, where you get quotes or if you do it yourself. Do you have plans as to what you want to put in as a replacement rear? Unless you find a used one, it can be quite pricy. I would have put one in my car, just never have 2-3 grand sitting around.
-
I don't have to pay close attention. I do however pay less attention than you on that topic on L4P, that is all I am trying to point out. Have you not comprehended that from my last few posts in relation to your responses?

Thank you for personally clarifying on the subject. I would be curious too, I hope they prove to have their shit straight, more than they have proven so far.
