  1. It's a full on race bike for the street. Very aggressive position. Saddlemen makes a nice comfy replacement seat that makes it better for longer rides.

I will have to look into that.

Also about the Buells, just looked into them and it was the blast people have talked down on that I remember. But that thing is a bucket, I would buy one if cheap enough though for a third bike ha ha

  2. It's getting warm again, which means time for a new bike. My passion for riding is starting to trump the passion for cars. I love corners!

My last three bikes were a 2010 triumph speed triple, 2012 speed triple r, and a 05? R6. I enjoyed the 2012 triumph the most but the naked style of the bike provided more wind resistance than I would prefer. The r6 I was never fully comfortable on in corners, I had the suspension rebuilt and dialed in for my weight with new tires and could never tell if the back tire was full planted or spinning in hard corners-uneasy feeling.

Over the weekend I found myself in the ducati-triumph-mv Augusta dealer and was overwhelmed. I pretty much wanted everything. The ducati monster felt just right, but I fear the naked style would have the same wind resistance effect my triples had at 80+ mph. Once I have more time on my hands I will take a few other bikes out they have. In the mean time any suggestions from some riders here?

I dislike anything Harley or any cruiser style bike. I would love a hypermotatd but I'm only 5 ten and in just not comfortable on that bike, I'm a little too short. Ha ha

  3. Yeah, but how much will resale be hurt? A little, a moderate amount, or a lot? As a buyer, how much would you be concerned about it?

Things that minor mean nothing to me, but to the general buyer this plays a big role. People are very picky, especially when purchasing something used-they feel they should be getting something "new"

Perfect example, I have a 95 M3 for sale, that makes roughly 600HP, it looks stock and is meant to be a sleeper. It has one purpose and that's going fast. A potential buyer said he probably wouldn't be interested in the car because it's in "rough shape" by rough he means a faded seat....... People are like this across the board when selling used cars, which is why if it's not a specialty vehicle I will just trade it in at a dealer and take a bath so I don't have to deal with people like that. I would walk to avoid headaches with re-sale, if you were keeping forever who cares, but that's not the case here.

  4. Already for sale? Damn that didnt last long

The sole purpose of this purchase was to have something while I wait on a GTR. I didn't think that would happen till around mid summer. Anyone that knows me wouldn't be shocked, I never keep anything long. Ended up getting this car back on the dyno with some tuning and it was a hair away from 600HP but the 255 pump wasn't keeping up so the car was backed down to the 585HP level. It's great fun, with a larger turbo the motor will easily support more power. It's a very healthy car

  5. Just had my car tuned on unleaded 100 octane, as it's only 7.30$ a gallon. Cheapest I could find Sunoco 100 octane was at 10$ a gallon, so stuck with the pump junk. Closest station is about a 35 min hike. Considering filling up a ton of gas containers I have. Any rough idea how long I can store this stuff?
  6. Only thing that worked on my 600whp BMW was Hoosier drag radials. Nothing worked below 65 degrees or so

A lot of people have been saying the Hoosier and r888 are hooking on similar setups, which is good to hear. It was also 60-65 out here in NC but I was getting the tires warm and anything under a high mph it wouldn't hook. Need to address this before I move up to the 700+ range

  7. Maintenance scares me. Maybe if I was a VW tech I'd feel more comfortable with that. From what I have seen even minor upkeep is $$$ and many special tools required.

Cheapo car max warranty and you're golden. Every person I've spoken to with one of the diesels hasn't had any major issues, guy I just picked a car up from had two! 120+ k miles on each. No issues.

  8. R888 are supposed to have the best grip in a radial/ street tire. I have not used them but they con is they are stupid soft and wont get you a lot of miles.

M&H drag radials are what I run on my supra. They hook up to 800hp, but im running a 325 wide tire. Again not a great # of miles to be had with these tires.

Can you go to a full slick or not? M&H makes a nice 26.0x8.5x17" full slick that would fit as well. Evo guys run these on stock tires and they are hooking up to 600+hp on the AWD platform.

I don't care if I have to keep replacing tires every 4-8k miles, tires are cheap and it's not a DD.

I'd prefer not to run a slick on the highway, not a fan of the moving around.. :fuuuu:

  9. NT-01 and or R888 is the next step up. Both suck in the wet. R888 gets hard after it gets to about 1/2 tread remaining. NT-01 gets better and better until it cords.

Honestly the gap between the tires Kale posted and R888's isn't what it used to be. The really sticky street rubber esp the Rival is much more sticky than the tread wear rating might indicate.

If you don't care about being able to drive in the rain put Hoosier R6's on it and call it a day. Might be your best bet to getting the thing to hook and since it's a road race tire it'll still go around corners.

It's not a DD so I don't care about wet driving, but it will see mostly highway trips...

Hoosier R6 over the R888 you think?

  10. Dunlop Direzza Zii

Hankook RS3 Version 2 (will be available within the next month)

    BFG Rival

No particluar order, all good tires.

The Direzza stink, have the star specs on it now and literally no traction. Not even when fully warmed up. Trying to see if there is a better option than a full out drag radial style tire..

Is this for the e36 m?

Yes. Just had it on the dyno last night for some tweaks, got right near 600HP and my fuel pump started crapping out. Ordered a new pump and soon will be at the limit of the 35r
