http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/MediaNav/articleId=151726/firstNav=Gallery/videoId=20291539 note that the G37 had its $2,100 sport package(better tires, brake pads, springs/shocks, etc.), while the SHO didn't have its $1,000 performance package that includes the same. the numbers are pretty good for a 4,400lb car. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Comparos/articleId=151726?tid=edmunds.il.home.photopanel..3.*&mktcat=enabler&AID=10364102&PID=3515522&kw=N&synpartner=edmunds&mktid=cj260233# would like to see a more evenly matched comparison(both AWD and performance/sport package equipped), but this is what we get for now.

a study done by EPRI estimates that the cost to charge a plug in electric hybrid would be about ¢75 per gallon. this is based on a cost of ¢8.5kw/h and the estimated distance the vehicle would travel compared to a car that gets 25MPG at $3 gallon. subsituting 25MPG for 50MPG as the comparison car results in a total cost of $1.25 per gallon for the plug in electric hybrid. basically, it's gonna take a car that gets better gas mileage than what is currently readily available to the public before the cost to charge an electric vehicle is even the same as the cost to drive that gas car. i'm not a big fan of electrics or hybrids at all, but there is no denying the clear advantages they have in a daily driver position compared to a gas or diesel vehicle.

corn-based ethanol = hardcore fail! cellulosic ethanol, biogas = lots of win, the future!

fords 'official' ranger EV is totally cooler, though it could certainly benefit from todays far better batteries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Ranger_EV de dion tube rear axle, sprung by carbon fiber leaf springs, and laterally supported by a watts link. then they replaced the cool stuff with steel leaf springs the next year, lol.

so, if the 5000 was the taurus before the taurus was out, why did the first gen taurus sell 2,000,000 and the 5000 flopped hardcore? hmm, maybe because there was something else to it besides the styling? nah, thats far too logical. enjoy your 'unintended acceleration'!!!

kings island needs lots of changes before i'll go there over cedar point. top thrill dragster, mantis, raptor, magnum, and millenium force make it worth the longer drive.

Source: Speed:Sport:Life - 2010 Ford Taurus and Taurus SHO — The return of the great American sedan. nice article, very interesting. sounds like a great car besides those horrible brakes.

that thing can't put out much of anything, but there is one legit electric super/turbocharger that exists... http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0406tur_knight_turbo_electric_supercharger/index.html http://www.boosthead.com/faq.php as you'll note, it requires a few extra car batteries and can only be used for about 10 seconds at a time, which gives you an idea of how much power you really need to make positive intake pressure in an engine.

hhmmm, this is gonna be very interesting. the reason koenigsegg runs ford modular engines is because volvo has helped them out since the beginning.

damn. touche sir, touche.

if it wasn't for the absoloutley retarded commentary(...800HP!!! ...he could die!!! ...his tires will explode!!!) and the rediculous sound effects(for the love of god, engines make their own noises, we dont need fake ones dubbed i!!!)... love the show though! last week was the nitro bike, which was pretty damn insane(who knew that the only way they could be ridden was by popping the clutch and literally holding it at full throttle, LOL), and the car chase was just plain awesome! i've always wanted to see a car chase with someone that could actually drive, and i, for the most part, got that! it's just too bad he went with an F-body though. if it was a mustang, it wouldn't have died on him after the first go...

What vehicle platform needs attention in Columbus?
Ry_Trapp01647545522 replied to DTM Brian's topic in Passing Lane
i'm not sure what's out there right now that needs attention, but be prepared for the ford ecoboost cars. i'm expecting some good stuff out of those! i was following the mazdaspeed cars for a long time, and no one had cracked them yet. there were some piggybacks and some sorta kinda tunes(only limited to a few perameters if i remember right, COBB being one of them), but no one was able to do a full custom. i havn't checked on these cars in a little bit though(it gets pretty boring reading 50 pages of "i have a $500,000 mazdaspeed engine built out of titanium and diamonds, who can tune it?"), so maybe there was a break through recently. i have my doubts though. so unfortunate too, those cars are so cool(i want an MS6!!!) and direct injection is definatly the future of performance! -
i completely agree, but just complaining about it isn't gonna change anything. i believe the 'omnibus bill' and the 'stimulus bill' pretty much cemented that. the best we can do is try to get the attention off of us by promoting all the alternative means of racing we can.

what the hell is with the rediculous attempts at justifying street racing??? "well, there are drunk drivers on the roads, so that makes street racing OK", "i see people on cell phones all the time, so that means street racing is OK", ever heard of the old saying "2 wrongs dont make a right"??? yes, all of these things need attention(well, you can only do so much without just adding a cop at every mile marker to moniter everyone), but that doesn't mean that one shouldn't be addressed just because the others havn't been. even if 1 street race ends in a death out of 100, that means that 1 life could have been saved had all 100 of the races occured at an actual safe place(whether it be a drag strip, a public road shut down with the aid of the local PD, whatever). is it too much to ask for everyone to band together and try to increase the number of legal alternatives(such as the aformentioned privately owned set up) available to us car people??? this is for the good of everyone, regardless of your thoughts on street racing.

oops, i was referring to general metal dipping. it looks like muriatic/hydrochloric acid is a BAD idea for stainless steel as it will react with it and cause corrosion(pitting and weakening). http://www.imoa.info/moly_uses/moly_grade_stainless_steels/stainless_faq_abc/cleaning_stainless_steel.html
-
muriatic/hydrochloric acid will definatly eat the rust off, but it also promotes rusting too so you gotta wash the part off really good, let it dry, then coat it. it also reacts with iron, so you dont want to leave the piece in it for long periods of time(like a week or something), just long enough to get the rust off. it seems to be pretty commonly used in the automotive acid dipping world, so have at it.

Dyno Tune Results Turbocharged 3.0 Noble
Ry_Trapp01647545522 replied to DTM Brian's topic in Sponsors
straight up badass cars! you don't see many around because the engine and chassis are sold as seperate pieces to qualify for kit car laws(lets just say they probably wouldn't pass our crash testing, lol, though they are sold as a regular car in europe because the laws are more enthusiast friendly over there). the only US dealer was 1G racing in hamilton ohio, but they changed their name to rossion automotive and apperantly relocated to florida. a few years back they bought the rights to the M12/M400 from noble(they replaced it with the M15), and started producing their own version called the Q1(same performance, more luxurious interior). noble is developing a new car, the M600, right now. it has a twin turbo volvo V8 making ~630HP, and word has it that its performance will be along the lines of the ferrari enzo and porsche carrera GT! -
Has a veterinarian ever killed your dog?
Ry_Trapp01647545522 replied to Ry_Trapp01647545522's topic in Dumpster
damn guys, sad stories. thanks everyone! about my concluding that it was probably an overdose by the vet; considering that other peoples dogs have had the same symptoms because of an overdose(the 'zombie dog', as well as the bile coming up), including the other 2 people that we know whos dogs died after visiting that place, the vet doing a full check while he was there and concluding that he was perfectly healthy besides the back problem, and him acting completely different before going to the vet(he had the back problem for about a day before we took him to the vet, and he was 1000% different before they gave him the shot) is what makes me think that they overdosed him. that being said, i of course can't be 100% sure of that, but the evidence seems to atleast lean that way. my parents don't want to deal with it though, so we dropped him off earlier today to get cremated. doesn't matter much now anyways, since he's already dead. i totally understand what you guys are saying though. thanks again guys, here's a picture of him: http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/85/l_82001760eade6a450bb1a827b967f6ac.png he looked a lot better with his hair cut, lol. he was 6. -
yep, sure did mine, the ignorant motherfuckers. the dog was moaning real loud for about a day(you could step on his foot and he would jump but wouldn't make a sound, so he was obviously in bad pain), so we took him to the vet and they said he threw out his back(evidentally shih tzus are known for having back problems). they gave him a shot with a combination of painkillers and muscle relaxers in his spine and he was zoned out for the past 2 days or so. he was walking around(well, stumbling around) earlier, so we figured it was a sign that he was getting better, but quite the opposite. about 5 hours ago he started coughing up this horrible smelling fluid, sounded like it was in his lungs, and about 15 minutes later he had like a seizure and died. considering that he was perfectly healthy besides the back problem, it's pretty safe to assume the he was overdosed out the ass. you could tell he was druged up for quite a while. i don't remember the place off hand, but i'll be sure to let you guys know tomorrow.

2009 Shelby Super Snake Tuning in Progress
Ry_Trapp01647545522 replied to DTM Brian's topic in Sponsors
yea, i was wondering which of those the car started life as. and evo built their own kit for that car(bad fucking ass car!!!). if i remember right, they are developing it for production. one thing about evo, they seem to take a long time to get their stuff developed, but it's always badass when it finally makes production! BTW, what's wrong with you man? a stock shelby??? atleast slap a tune and CAI on that thing!!! lol -

Ry_Trapp01647545522 replied to DTM Brian's topic in Sponsors
did this start out as a 605HP or a 725HP car? BTW, if you get a shelby you should go with the whipple 3.4l. an ass hair under 800RWHP on pump gas!!! hellion just released their twin turbo setup too, can be used with a sheet metal hat or making compound boost with the stock supercharger(epic dyno graphs!). -
