thanks for the link, i like the specs on that cam. i like the 11.1 on the pistons, is that ok though, or should try for a little lower if im running the 93 gas?
-
i was told by some one a while back that u would not need one because i would be shifting it all the time.
-
Not saying your wrong, as i dont know, but i cant imagine just an old 350 would make that much power with just heads and cam. especially being that its not gonna be a crazy build by any means. nickey, yes it is a 2 bolt main block. the main reason i say limited to around 500 is because thats what the crank is rated at. AJ, i know the trans are deifferent, but i wasnt sure if they has anywhere near the same bolt pattern or not.

So im finally getting some money together to start my 383 build. I am doing this on some what of a budget which kinda sucks because i would love to build a 10 second car, but maybe later. here is the parts list so far of stuff i will be picking up shortly and/or as money allows: 64 cc heads with 2.02/1.60 valves with 190cc intake runner comp cam 284/296 dur. .507/.510 lift (liking this cam, but may just call camp after i get everything else and just see what they think) eagle 383 stroker crank scat 4340 forged i beam rods studs for everything holley 750 carb some things im not sure of yet: pistons intake mani transmission I went to jegs and had one of the guys there recommend some dome top hypereutectic pistons, but with 64 cc heads they have a CR of 11.8:1. i have 2 issues with this. 1 being that the crank i have is rated to a little over 500 hp with main studs, so i have to keep the power under that, and i dont care to use race gas. Is it even possible to run that high compression on 93 octane? the intake im just waiting to get everything else together so i can figur out what i need. I also have 2 transmissions. first being the one i want to use, my 4l60 that already in the car. if i use it, it will be getting 4l65 internals and a full manuel valve body. this all assuming it will even hook up to the 350 block. if not, i already have a built Turbo 400 sitting in the garage. any opinions are welcome. will get picks up as i go. oh and keeping my fingers crossed that my luck continues the way is has been with this build. so far i have $55 dollars invested and have a good block, water pump, holley 750 carb and the built turbo 400 trans lol.

damn this post is lame :asshole:

well at least they spend the money on something. pataskala passed a tax this year that was supposed to help fix streets and what not. i live just off the north side of summit (if you had been down that road recently before they finally fixed it, im sure your cars suspension hates you). people called and complained that the whole road needed to be repaved. What did the ass holes do? they filled the holes with gravel several times before getting enough complaints and finally fixed it right.

just got some money, so my 383 stroker build is under way finally.

thats because you have common sense. even if this doesnt kill him, maybe we will get lucky and it will at least keep him from ever reproducing.

just curious, who is the 1 person that cares? who ever it is needs to be blind folded and thrown in the back of a black camaro, drove out to a lama farm and shot

new sound card? My computer did something like this a few years ago. Ended up needing a new one.

that sucks about the hacking threat stuff, ive had that happen a few times. Ive even had people go so low as to tell me if i dont give them a car from forza that they wanted, they would get me banned. I just laughed. There customer service is a joke though. I was low on money a while back and didnt have the money to renew a year subscription. I searched all over on xbox for a way to cancel but couldnt find one. Finally got a customer service email adress, and got an awnser of, we dont deal with that kind of stuff, but we can give you a phone number of some one that MIGHT be able to help.

the gf got me a bunch of tshirts and sweat shirts from summit racing, some new xbox games nd controllers and 250 dollar jegs gift card. the rest of the family pretty much just gave me jegs gift cards or cash. $700 towards my 383 FTW

fine with me, my girlfriend gives better gifts anyway. $250 jegs gift card just for starters.

damn GM really does need to step it up. I was curious as to why it destroyed the 5.3 so bad, so i looked it up. This makes no sense to me, they have the 4.8 rated at 302 hp and a 5.3 rated at 315. so id say they need to do away with the 4.8 or 4.3 and put the 6.0L back in at around 360 or so hp.

05' Grand Prix GTP: Issues or Problems?
pontiacfreak142 replied to Scotty2Hotty's topic in Tech and Tips
The motors in these cars are very tough and rarely need anything outside of regular stuff like oil changes. Although im not sure if the newer body styles were included, but i know the previous ones did have an issue with one of the rear gaskets going bad and fluids would drip on the exaust manifold and catch fire. -
hmmm, last i heard it was supposed to be
-
ok cool, ill give that a shot first. Yea its still plugged in, just sittin off the corner. I know, i know lol. I bought it for the bird but the tubing was to small for it and i didnt want to waste the 50 bucks i spent on it
-
ill have to try that then, maybe it is just toast. Yes, come to think of it, it did just start stalling when it got cold out.
-
unfortunatley most of those i cant awnser because it has not stalled on me yet. from what i could tell, it drove just fine, although it has been a while since i last drove the car. it was blowing coolant out from behind the pulley on the water pump, so it was replaced. i have not had a chance to check the plugs yet. if it helps, the car feels like its running just fine (or least it feels the same from when i owned it about 10 months ago). i just did an oil change on it recently (after the stalling issue started) and no coolant in the oil or anything.
-
Same car as ive posted about before. the car had a bad coolant leak which was fixed (was told if these motors got to low on coolant they would stall) tried cleaning MAF and throttle plates also, but car still stalls. The owner let it idle for roughly 8 minutes then tried to move car but it stalled as she started to back up. car would not restart. about an hour later i took the car for a little drive and had no trouble getting it to start or drive down the road. About an hour after this, she went to drive it home, made it about 50 yards and car dies again. She got it to fire right back up this time and it made it the rest of the way home. Any idea's? its a 3.1 V6. dont think it will have anything to do with it, but the car does have a CAI and the air intake temp sensor is not plugged in and sitting off in a corner.

on another note though, i would like to see a comparo between the optima and the new regal GS 276 hp and front drive Vs 260 hp and 290 Tq and AWD.
