networking/computer guys, need a little help please.
bicranium replied to pontiacfreak142's topic in Dumpster
Might be something with the QoS settings in the router. If QoS is enabled on the router try disabling it and running the speed test to see if there's any change. -
This began with Jordan. The 80's and very early 90's had some extremely physical and actually dirty play. As a person born into a Celtics family a play that immediately comes to mind is McHale's clothesline on Rambis. There are multiple ejections and suspensions as a result of that in today's game. And that's not a sign of a less physical game. Just because guys can't clothesline people today without consequence doesn't mean the game itself isn't just as physical.

And here it is... laser death stare from Meyer at Harbaugh at the Sound Mind and Body camp this morning... http://i.imgur.com/ytV3Ykh.jpg And then at the tables for the presser... http://i.imgur.com/caPJ1tm.jpg

Comments like these are great to weed out casual NBA fans from real ones. Granted, this is an Ohio-based car forum so there won't be many real NBA fans. One of the huge downsides of Lebron's return to Cleveland is the sudden appearance of "basketball fans." People who can't recognize that today's game is just as physical if not more so than the 80's and 90's just don't know what they're talking about. The athletes are bigger, stronger and faster so the hits they take may not be as obvious but they are absolutely beating each other up out there in the playoffs.

Harbaugh is clearly an actual insane person. Harbaugh vs. Meyer could be a lot of fun. He got under Petey's skin when they were coaching college ball but Petey bested him for the most part during Harbaugh's time in the NFL. I can't wait for the first public interaction.

Going into the conference finals I didn't think Cleveland had a shot at the title. I figured they'd beat Atlanta but no matter who came out of the west I thought they would win. Cleveland showed me and probably a lot of others that they're better than we may have expected even with a gimpy Irving and no Love vs. Atlanta, still pulling off a sweep. I still think Golden State takes it in 5 but I will no longer be surprised if Lebron somehow wills this Cavs team to a title. Golden State has home court and they are 46-3 at home this season including the playoffs. It won't be easy for Lebron and Co. to go into Oakland and steal a game and they can't win the title without doing so.

Matt Millen leaving ESPN to take a job with BTN/FS1. I think that's a good pick up. Obviously if you're an NFL fan you think he's a joke but just as a CFB analyst I've liked him. In the group of ESPN people I like just below the Blackledge/Nessler team.

Was pretty funny when people in the "Golson or Braxton" thread started talking up Golson's passing ability and talking down Braxton's. Golson had just over a 2:1 TD to INT ratio last season while completing 60% of his passes. Braxton had well over a 3:1 TD to INT ratio in 2013 while completing 63.5% of his passes. It's like people see Braxton's amazing running ability (Golson doesn't come close here) and can't seem to process the fact that he's a good passer on top of that.

Some updates... OSU landed what may be the #1 punter in the country earlier this week when Drue Chrisman from Cincinnati LaSalle HS committed. He had offers from FSU, BYU (he's Mormon), UCLA, Kentucky and others. Will grayshirt unless Cam leaves early (not ridiculous - I think a few of the Aussie guys who have come over to punt have done it). Urban had an appendectomy yesterday. Supposed to throw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium tomorrow but may have to hold himself back from doing that due to the surgery. He still plans to participate. It's Ohio State day or something. For those who don't know, Steinbrenner got his masters at OSU and was a grad assistant for Woody Hayes in 1954 when OSU won a national title. And today OSU landed 4* OT Michael Jordan from Michigan. One of the top 3 players in the state and his commitment to OSU came as something of a surprise to a lot of Michigan people. We lost the top 2 OL in Ohio to Notre Dame because of Catholicism so it's nice to steal a good one from Michigan.

A lot of the best players didn't play much (Bosa, Zeke, etc.) then obviously Braxton and JT couldn't play either. Tyvis Powell's INT on Cardale was actually a really nice read and play by Tyvis. He's had some big INT's in his career (OT vs. Michigan in 2013, final play vs. Bama in the Sugar Bowl) but I've always felt he wasn't really very good. This was pass coverage though and I've always felt he's awful in run support so we may still get that this season. True freshman early enrollee Nick Conner out of Dublin had an INT and a forced fumble. If we were so set at LB already I'd say he could be pushing for playing time. Either way, having guys that good in the depth chart for competition purposes is always good. The kids he grew up with still haven't graduated HS and he's already out there in front of 100k making plays. Corey Smith looked good catching a couple long TD's from Cardale. He burned Eli Apple for the first one and then a walk-on for the second late in the game. Redshirt freshman Terry McLaurin had a nice TD grab in the end zone on a pass from 4th string redshirt freshman QB Stephen Collier. Guys like McLaurin and Noah Brown (targeted a lot on Saturday but I think he only ended up with a few grabs) will be trying to fill the shoes of Evan Spencer and Devin Smith. Sophomore safety Erick Smith (who, had Tyvis not become such a leader/gotten a reputation for his "clutch" INT's, I thought would overtake Powell at some point last season or this off-season) had 2 INT's. Like Conner being able to push the first 3-4 LB's on the depth chart, Smith will be able to do the same with Bell and Powell. I will admit, once the attendance was announced and the halftime festivities were done (fastest Buckeye race where Zeke won and a QB throwing competition between Barrett, Jones and Troy Smith - JT won the general passing drill but Cardale obviously won the long ball throw with a pretty effortless 74 yard toss - Troy, not having played anywhere competitively in about 2 years, was still about to throw it nearly 70 yards himself), I wasn't paying as much attention so here are several good write ups from 11w... http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2015/04/52680/spring-game-observations-nick-conner-erick-smith-shine-for-ohio-state-defense http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2015/04/52686/spring-game-observations-ohio-state-still-looking-to-replace-devin-smith http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2015/04/52748/spring-game-standouts-starters-in-the-making http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2015/04/52732/spring-game-2015-key-takeaways-from-standout-performances

Looks a bit like him. It's Kyle Berger. 4* LB out of HS, was nearly a 5* but dropped down due to missing his senior year with a knee injury. I believe the plan all along was to redshirt last season but he also re-injured his knee at some point during practices/training. Not sure he'll ever play at OSU. OSU just seems to have such bad luck with kids from St. Ignatius.

2 more commits for OSU so far today... 2016 4* DL Malik Barrow out of Florida and 2017 4* RB Todd Sibley from Akron. 5 commits so far this weekend between the 2016/2017 classes and it might not be over.

Yeah, OSU had the record (just shy of 96k) before this anyway so they broke their own record. Only 8 stadiums in the country could have fit OSU's spring game crowd. Here's the 10 biggest spring game crowds... 99,341 – Ohio State (2015) 95,722 – Ohio State (2009) 92,310 – Alabama (2011) 92,138 – Alabama (2007) 91,312 – Alabama (2010) 84,050 – Alabama (2009) 83,401 – Auburn (2013) 81,112 – Ohio State (2012) 80,149 – Nebraska (2008) 78,526 – Alabama (2012) And OSU got 2 more commits today. 3* OL Jack Wohlabaugh from Stow, OH for the class of 2016 and 4* DB Marcus Williamson from Westerville for the class of 2017. Could still be another commit or two from this weekend.
-
4* IL LB Tuf Borland committed to OSU last night. Father played at Wisconsin and most felt he was a Wiscy lock. Probably have another 1-3 commits over the next few days with the spring game happening. 1-2 guys for each of the 2016 and 2017 classes could pull the trigger. OSU is currently sitting at #4 in the team rankings for the 2016 class but the 3 teams ahead of them have anywhere from 2 to 10 additional commitments. OSU has the highest average rating per player in the country.

Versus Urban, obviously, but this statement made me interested to see who else is paying like that... http://sportswire.usatoday.com/2014/12/18/cfb-cost-per-win-coaching-winchart/ Obviously there were some coaching changes but from the B1G (and this is total coaching staff)... Purdue - $1.395m per win Michigan - $1.259m per win Iowa - $978k per win Indiana - $888k per win Michigan State - $880k per win Illinois - $689k per win Ohio State - $673k per win Maryland - $654k per win Nebraska - $643k per win Minnesota - $607k per win Rutgers - $474k per win Wisconsin - $456k per win Northwestern is private so they don't know and Penn St. does there own cult BS which allowed for things like Sandusky to go on for so long so they're not listed either. Some interesting schools paying A LOT per win... Texas - $1.473m per win South Carolina - $1.214m per win Texas A&M - $1.211m per win LSU - $1.210m per win Oklahoma - $1.133m per win Kentucky - $1.081m per win Arkansas - $1.067m per win Tennessee - $1.037m per win Auburn - $1.027m per win Alabama - $1.012m per win Basically all of the SEC (even Alabama) and the 2 Big 12 blue bloods are paying over $1m per win. And these numbers were prior to the bowl games/playoffs so Bama would dip below the $1m per win mark and OSU would end up below $600k per win.

Has a pretty wonky throwing motion but he's big (Tebow-sized) and quick (reported 4.4 so probably 4.5-4.6 but good for a 6'3", 230lb. QB) so that should work. New QB coach Tim Beck was never able to really fix Taylor Martinez's throwing motion/mechanics/fundamentals at Nebraska so we'll see if OSU's QB coaching can be credited more to Urban as a lot of people suspect.

Urban talked to the media after practice today and said OSU was "forthright" in everything it did with Dean. He was examined pretty much the second he got on campus and DQ'd in January. So before signing day. Urban also got a contract extension through 2020 and a raise today. Highest paid coach in the B1G and will make an average of $6.5m/yr over the length of the contract.

OSU is supposedly down to 85 now. 4* DB Jamel Dean out of Cocoa, FL wasn't medically cleared to participate, LS Liam McCullough is grayshirting and there is an academic casualty from the 2015 class. No idea on who the academic casualty is (first guesses would be Eric Glover-Williams and Rashod Berry - both had grade issues mentioned during their recruitment) and the Dean thing has caused some hubbub from his head coach. Saying Dean's being forced out, that he can still play, that this was all a shock/surprise to him, etc., etc. I have a hard time believing a lot of what he's saying because of his comment about being shocked/surprised. I knew about Dean probably not making it because of his knee months ago so he's either completely out of the loop or lying because he's mad. Dean's former HS teammate and 5* composite ATH in the class of 2017, Bruce Judson, said he's still committed to OSU as of last night. His coach said a lot of stuff about how this is going to affect his thoughts on OSU, Meyer and his staff moving forward but Judson, at least for now, doesn't seem to care too much.

Some nice Breaking Bad references tonight. Jimmy/Saul talking about Belize during his bingo rant and then we got to see him do his Kevin Costner thing which he mentioned during a pitch to Walt on Breaking Bad about buying the laser tag place.

Not everyone is fancy enough to be on PTP. :fuckyeah:

Finally got around to watching this when the Bluray rips started popping up a few weeks ago. Loved the movie, really loved the soundtrack. The organ was a little surprising at first given its religious connotation but as it kept showing up in the score it got better and better.

Saul Berenson is from Homeland so just a mix up there I'd assume.

There was a solid 15-20 minutes of stuff that was just added fluff. They could have easily accomplished what they needed to by cutting out the garbage with Sasha/Gabriel and Glenn/Nicholas and kept it to a normal hour-long episode. But they knew they'd have high viewership for the finale (ended up being 16m) so they added 15 minutes of show and 15 minutes of commercials. I don't watch live (either off DVR or if I'm super lazy I'll download a torrent which has the commercials cut out already so I don't have to fast forward) so the added commercials don't annoy me just by being there but it bothers me that they extended the finale and didn't really accomplish anything extra in the show. The Halo ads that played during the finale probably paid for the 15 minutes of fluff on their own and they only accounted for ~4 minutes of commercial space.
