  1. I think the spidercam thing was a WatchESPN only feature and I don't have that (yet - hurry the fuck up and activate that shit DirecTV). I have the regular game broadcast and the Film Room broadcast (Spielman, Miss. St. HC Dan Mullen, new Nebraska HC Mike Riley, etc., etc.) on my DVR. I watched the ESPN Voices broadcast over a couple nights this week. Aaron Boone (baseball), Jay Bilas (college hoops), Julie Foudy (soccer), Barry Melrose (hockey), Mike Wilbon (NBA) and Mark Schlereth (NFL) were the commentators/watchers. Pretty fun broadcast. Wish Bilas would have spoken up more. Liked how Wilbon was doing just like he does on PTI and always looking for stats/rosters so when he said something it actually made sense. Obviously Schlereth knew the most about football. He, Boone and Foudy took Oregon, the other 3 took OSU (Wilbon is a Chicago/Northwestern guy, Bilas is just smart and Melrose's wife is from Ohio...lol). Schlereth did a good job of biting his tongue from time to time when one of the others would say something completely ridiculous or wrong about football but you could see it on his face. Pretty fun broadcast overall. I'll be watching the Film Room version sometime this weekend with a Nebraska friend since Mike Riley was on it. Have heard they did a nice job but Spielman was maybe a little too fired up and talked too much because of it. Not sure how ESPN didn't see that coming. Even Herbie was overly defensive of some OSU stuff during the broadcast which is so, so rare for him. If you guys have U-Verse or TWC with ESPN then you should be able to watch any of these on WatchESPN. I'm just waiting for DirecTV's fresh agreement to kick in. Also, someone else mentioned hearing some stuff about Braxton's arm being shot... I heard the same thing several weeks ago. Someone was at some OSU function with a bunch of former coaches/players and one of them came right out and said that. I can't remember if it was the Beat Michigan rally thing with Earle Bruce and all of them or what but just saying I've heard the same thing. I thought it was way too early to know for sure but reading it from other people now is interesting.
  2. I still can't get over the fact that he's going to have never started a single game in Ohio Stadium or any college stadium. B1G title, CFP semifinal win over Bama and a national title. 3-0... 3 of the 4 biggest wins for OSU since the 2002 national title game (the other of the 4 being the #1 vs. #2 Michigan game).
  3. Fake twitter account probably still right though. Presser is in Cleveland at his HS, not in Columbus. Location usually tells the tale. I don't think he would have started over JT this year anyway. With him going there are basically 5 QB's in the draft... Winston, Mariota, Hundley, Petty and Cardale. People saying he could easily go 2nd round. Before JT broke his ankle vs. Michigan Cardale was leaving after this season anyway (transfer). So now he's still leaving but he helped bring OSU a national title and he's going to the NFL instead. Insane. Never started a game in the Shoe. Only started games in NFL stadiums (Colts, Saints, Cowboys) and won them all. Redshirt freshman Stephen Collier will end up getting most of the 1st team reps in spring with JT still limited and no idea on Braxton.
  4. I hope so. Obviously a ton of guys will be in that game for OSU who had to deal with the "embarrassment" of that loss this season. Season opener, primetime game on Labor Day... show the country that they are shooting for the repeat.
  5. Bill Greene on Scout said right before Harbaugh was hired that the trio of Scott/Harris/Weber could all shift around before everything is said and done. He reiterated that yesterday/today. I'd love to hold on to Weber, he had a great showing in San Antonio. But ending up with any of the 3 is fine by me. As for the QB's... Beck recruited Gibson to Nebraska and told Gibson he'd start at QB for sure during that process so Gibson is pretty pleased with the hire as Beck is a guy who has already told him he'll get a shot at QB. Burrow's dad played at Nebraska. Beck never really showed much interest in Burrow and people think that the family may be a little offended and upset that Beck is going to end up with someone he didn't show a ton of interest in despite his legacy status. Obviously OSU looks solid at QB right now (and may have a 2016 QB commit by the end of the week - Jarrett Guarantano out of NJ) but hoping to keep at least one of them. OSU's 2016 and 2017 classes should be incredible. As Urban said, they were selling a lot of potential and probable scenarios over the last couple years on the recruiting trail but now it's right there... it's testimony. OSU already has commitments from the #1 and #4 RB's in the country for 2016 (5* Walker out of NJ and 4* Hill from OH) and will almost certainly land the #3 RB in 4* Demario McCall from OH as well. Walker is an Elliott-style back. Hill and McCall are more like Wilson/Marshall/Samuel so they're not going to scare each other off. Urban and the staff are going to have a lot of fun recruiting over the next few weeks before signing day. Keep the current guys committed, maybe land a 5* DL in Beckner out of East St. Louis and a 6'2" 3* CB out of Florida in Damon Arnette, maybe toss in another surprise and then keep the 2016 class rolling.
  6. Herbstreit was talking about that game and gave some behind the scenes stuff about it at some point during the national championship broadcast. I think it may have been after. Basically it was this team's 2012 MSU game. The turning point in the season where the team went from 8 units to 1 unit. No matter what happened from there on out everyone was playing for each other before anything else. JT going out there in OT and leading them to a win with a 2nd degree MCL sprain... Mickey Marotti told him in the locker room that he was the toughest player he'd ever been around. Herbie was sitting next to Tebow at that point so Herbie was like... "Of course Mick probably just blanked on you for a second..." :dumb:
  7. Nah, Charleston Southern is an FCS school. They still failed. And, like clockwork, they play Charleston Southern right before the Iron Bowl effectively acting as an extra bye week. Something the SEC has been doing for years.
  8. Was thinking about that last night. Some people were starting to question Urban Meyer's greatness. "He's lost 3 of his last 4 at OSU after reeling off those 24 straight wins against nobodies... maybe he's not as good as advertised and still the same guy who was at Florida at the end." :lolguy: There were articles after the Bama game that this was one of if not the greatest coaching job in college football history. I think that win last night solidified it. What Urban did with the whole team, what Herman did with the QB's, what Warinner did with the OL, what Smith did with the WR's, what LJ Sr. did with the DL, what Fickell and Ash did with their position groups and the defense overall to become more cohesive... absolutely astonishing.
  9. Something I read that I thought was incredible... Cardale Jones has not started a single game in Ohio Stadium. But he's a motherfucking national champion. He has yet to start a game in a single college stadium actually. He really didn't come to play school after all.
  10. Have to be at work in 3 1/2 hours. Whatever... http://i.imgur.com/E5ujDSe.gif
  11. I thought it was cool. He did more than his part staying on for the playoffs. Game was in Texas, some rich Houston boosters were probably there and handed him a hat. Anyway... I'm not 100% sure this is real life.
  12. I watched a lot of Nebraska this year with a lifelong Nebraska fan and he was never really a fan of Beck. I would have preferred the guy from ECU which was who I had read about a couple weeks ago (young, Texas ties) but this seems like a Warinner hire more than a Meyer hire. Beck and Warinner worked together at Kansas when they went 12-1 and put up over 44ppg. Sounds like Warinner will be taking over the playcalling as expected so Beck will just have to worry about coaching the QB's. Urban has as much say in the QB coaching and offense as any coach in the country though so it'll be fine.
  13. Was just coming to make sure that got posted. Thank you.
  14. It's amazing how bad he is a lot of the time that he is able to do stuff like be exactly where Michigan was going on that 2-pt and then go up and grab the INT vs. Bama. And 5* RB Damien Harris is headed to Bama. Figured that was the case when he went to the Iron Bowl way back in November. I think by then he realized he wasn't going to UK and needed to brush up on the knowledge of his "backup plan."
  15. Watching that I realized just how crucial Tyvis' INT at the end of the game was. He went up and snatched the ball from right above 2 Bama WR's. He doesn't do that and one of them could have easily come up with it or maybe it bounces to their TE Howard... http://i.imgur.com/Chq3raF.jpg He gave up the huge completion that led to them making it a 7-point game but looking more at the INT... it was much more than just catching a desperation arm punt at the end of a game.
  16. *too MAYBE SUM FREE EDUMAHCATION WOULDA DUN YA SUM GUD. :gabe:
  17. As I mentioned previously, I'm superstitious about stuff (the jerseys). I just have this feeling if I set up a bunch of stuff to record hoping to have a lot of neat stuff to relive a victory that it's just going to end with a loss. I used to record Gameday when they were at the site of an OSU game, any sort of pre-game stuff on ESPN, local ABC, etc., etc. Now my DirecTV just records the OSU games automatically and that's it. None of the extra stuff. DirecTV just signed a new deal with Disney/ESPN so I'll have WatchESPN and everything here soon so if OSU should win I think I'll have most of those telecasts available on there in some kind of archive. Just looking at ESPN's schedule for Monday right now... their coverage is starting at 3PM. 3-4PM - College Football Live from Arlington 4-6PM - College Gameday from Arlington 6-8PM - Championship Drive from Arlington 8-8:20PM - CFP Pregame Show 8:20-8:30pm - Pregame Showcase 8:30-12AM - 2015 National Championship Edit: Fuck it. Just set it up to record all of that and the versions of the game on ESPN (regular), ESPN 2 (one with Spielman, Mullen, Riley, etc.) and ESPNU (Bilas, Wilbon, Melrose, etc.). If OSU loses... it's on me guys. Pretty pumped to hear Barry Melrose and his mullet's hot takes on college football.
  18. So you can watch the whole game from the spidercam like I thought... lots of different telecast options... http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football/2015-national-championship/2015/01/47938/espn-will-air-cfp-megacast-across-multiple-platforms-for
  19. Urban was on the Dan Patrick show today and asked about the 8-team playoff we all think should happen and he said it can't. Not with the current setup. Used to play 12 games max with 85 scholarships. Now they're playing 15 (16 if they go to 8). Said they'd need to go up to about 110 scholarships if they wanted to do an 8-team playoff. Especially with the last 3-4 games being heavyweight bouts.
  20. Wasn't bare but there was an article just yesterday about the impact Urban's first real class (2013) has had on this title run. JT Barrett, Vonn Bell, Joey Bosa, Jalin Marshall, Eli Apple, Ezekiel Elliott, Dontre Wilson, Billy Price, Corey Smith, Darron Lee. That's 10 2nd year guys who have had huge impacts on this season. I questioned taking Corey Smith off because he was kind of a bum early in the year (big drops vs. VT and lazy play in the middle of the season) but he has been killing it blocking as a WR and blowing people up on kickoffs.
  21. Apparently Boise St. OC/QB coach Mike Sanford interviewed for the job with OSU but is staying at Boise St. Could be that OSU got someone else or he just wants to stay at Boise St. (he played there).
  22. Miller is applying for a medical redshirt too so he could be back next year. Most of us were critical of him tightening up in bigger games and kind of outsmarting himself at times (ie. splitting Carlos Hyde out wide vs. MSU in the B1G title game last year when OSU hadn't done it once all year - it didn't work) but he seemed to break that tendency vs. MSU this year. And continued that trend in the biggest games of the year vs. Wisconsin and Alabama. Obviously what he was able to do with the QB's has been amazing too. I don't think any of us will be able to say how we feel about it until his replacement is named. The only name I've even seen floated around much is ECU's Lincoln Riley. Would be similar to Herman. Young guy with Texas ties.
  23. I think LJ Sr. wanted to make out with him through his facemask. That was awesome. I think if you watch on WatchESPN they have a lot of different options for cameras throughout the game. If any of you have that (I have DirecTV so I will have it here soon but not yet or in time for the title game) check it out Monday night. I'm fairly certain they have it available live.
  24. So you don't like the black numbers? I'm with you on that. I understand they're a throwback to the '68 uniforms but they just don't look good. And now it looks like Jameis IS going pro. So all those tweets and whatnot yesterday about him likely coming back were just completely off. There were A LOT of them from several different people/sources so I bought it but this definitely makes more sense considering there was stuff as early as October pointing to him being gone.
  25. Quoting something from the old thread... The biggest reason OSU chose to be the "away" team was just overall familiarity with being the "away" team. They were familiar with it from having been the "away" team in the games you mentioned and choosing to be the "away" team means more than just the jerseys, they got to use all the same stuff they had used before (high school practice field, hotel, etc., etc.). Some think that level of comfort may have been an issue though. I get a little superstitious with that stuff so when OSU was undefeated in the uniforms you hate and didn't use them for the B1G title game last year I was upset and then OSU lost. But they did wear them for the Clemson game and I decided uniform superstition is dumb and I'm dumb. :dumb:
