  1. Considering our latitude and the amount of light pollution in central Ohio, this is the only aurora anyone here's going to be seeing: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/96_oldsmobile_aurora_4.jpg
  2. Wow, the left front wheel even has some custom color matching. + rep as promised. Welcome.
  3. Lots of good steak places mentioned. Since Marzetti's on Broad closed, The Top has been my favorite. It's like a trip back to 1958. It doesn't try to be retro .... it just hasn't changed since then. Dark wood paneling, amber lenses in the wall sconces, fireplace at one end and bar at the other, rat pack playing on the sound system, three martinis before the steak. Ask the waitress for butter on your baked potato and she'll plop a dollop of butter the size of your fist on it and sweetly ask, Do you want more, honey?" Just talking about it wants me want to fire up a cigar.
  4. Wouldn't ya know, the cold is predicted to return Saturday. But I'll be there anyway.
  5. 7 minutes to be repped-in and no pics. That's impressive. I figure you'll be a mod by tomorrow. Welcome.
  6. Don't be bitter, Jeffro. That thing between you and me, well, it just didn't work out. You're with Justin now. Be brave. And, remember, we'll always have Paris.
  7. Welp, you've done bikes, cars, boats, skipping over trucks ........ I guess the next logical step for you is to mod a Terrafugia. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/runway.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/curved_road.jpg Video: After a swap and a turbo, you'll be ready for Mexico. And if the policia come chasing you, clip on the wings and rise above it all.
  8. Thanks for the suggestions and links posted. I've passed all of this on to my buddy to consider.
  9. You better watch yourself, Jonesy, calling Jeffro mentally retarded. You should know better. It's bound to offend mentally retarded people. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/whos-the-retard.jpg
  10. Welcome. It's a good idea to read the stickies before posting your intro. If you put the requested info and a few photos up, you should be good to go. Lots of LS1 fans here. How to make an intro: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61288 How to post pics: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1743 :nopics: Enjoy!
  11. Very impressive and very well-deserved. Congratulations to you both.
  12. The answer's right there, plus I'd have to come up with six figures plus my car.
  13. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/112-9805-01-ih-2bford-f150-lightning-2bfront-right.jpg (generic photo of 2002 Ford Lightning) A friend of mine wants to sell his red 2002 Ford Lightning with 102,000 miles. This has the 5.4 L V8 which makes 380 hp and has 450 lb-ft of torque. He's the original owner and garaged the truck every night. It's bone stock, maintained by the book, no known problems or damage. I would say it's in very good condition. For a sale to a private party, this is what I find: KBB says 10-12k Edmonds says 8,800 NADA guide says clean trade-in is 10,275 and clean retail is 13,350 Just based on the info here, what do you think he should ask for the truck? Where should he try to sell it? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, if you think you'd be interested, let me know and I'll put you in contact with him directly.
  14. They've added some useful features to the new CGT--details such as small LED markers in the mirrors which alert the driver that the turn signal is flashing, more levers and buttons for common seat movements (such as leaning the front seats forward for back seat passengers to load), and so forth. The new generation of Audi electronics are a big upgrade. When you shift to reverse, the rear camera comes on screen and there are 3-D effect orange dotted lines which project your path across the screen display. As you turn the steering wheel (this is with the car moving or still), the projected path adjusts accordingly. Very fun to play with and actually practical in some backing situations. In fact all of the displays use the 3-D Audi effects, which are very sharp, clear and kewl. The number of dials and buttons has been reduced and the main center screen is a touch screen. The car has a little more grunt than the previous models, and the steering has a slightly lighter feel. The old 50:50 power split has been revised to 40% front and 60% rear. This is still a big car to take through the fairly mild twisties I drove today. Overall, I am impressed with the improvements Bentley has made. This is a really great car. However, I am quite content with my Flying Spur. I think if I traded, I'd really miss the extra room and better ride of the Spur.
  15. The reason I started this thread was because I wanted to see if anyone had a "fanboy" level of interest in the new Continentals; I received an invitation for two to go to the 2012 model introduction at Eddie Merlot's last night. There was a delicious buffet and open bar, lots of wine and champagne .... you get the picture. I didn't think it would be such a good idea to directly ask if anyone wanted to go to free eats and drinks at Merlot's, because, well, it would be tempting for people to post that they wanted to go even if they didn't care much about the car. And I only had one invitation to extend. I figured I'd just test the waters for interest, and then extend the invitation one-at-a-time until someone could commit to going. As it ended up, lots of people had interest but had schedule conflicts. But my standby co-pilot, Farkas, was free and was interested, so he and I attended. They had two pre-production CGT's on display. Of course, I forgot my camera, but Farkas got some cell phone photos he'll prolly post later to this thread. The cars are headed to Dubai. What we didn't know in advance was that test drive invitations for today (Saturday) were given at the reception, so of course Farkas and I signed up. Unfortunately, the scallop hors d'oeuvres got the best of Andy and he had to bail out on the test drives. Because things were so last minute, everyone I contacted about test driving/test riding couldn't make it. Sorry. But I did end up getting some swag for a couple of you guys. However, I went today to MAG and got some photos and also took the Sand-colored one on some spirited driving to New California, then back on secondary twisties. The one I drove: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0041-1.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0030-2.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0034.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0031.jpg The other car (which I think looked sharper): http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0038-1.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0039-1.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0037.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0040.jpg By the time this thread is up, the cars have been loaded onto enclosed transport and are on their way to their next party.
  16. Tony's your brother? I remember his fond farewell to us: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=971607&postcount=1 But you might be all right in spite of all that. When you buy your car and get pics posted, I'll +rep you. Promise.
  17. Those words will taste like de-icing salt if you have to eat them. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/ber0-011a.gif "It ain't over till it's over." -Yogi Berra (If you were thinking he was a cartoon character, you may have to resort to Google.)
  18. It's black. I don't have photos, except for the wheels, but my car looks identical to this: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/medium_bentley_flying_spur_2.jpg and this http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/06_Continental-Flying-Spur1_544x408.jpg except WheelMedic did a beautiful job on the wheels: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/afterwheel.jpg
  19. Nope and yep. Don't have a CGT, but I have a Continental Flying Spur. And yes, you can drive it. Just ask me at a meet and you can take it out. Cordell drove it after cars and coffee for about 25 miles about 6 weeks ago and said it was almost as nice as his F-body. I started the thread to see if anyone was hot on the 2012 CGT, not because I have one or plan on buying one.
  20. If either of you had attended my open house, you would have had your chance--MAG was kind enough to bring a CGT and give test drives.
  21. Actually the Phaeton, Continental Flying Spur and Continental GT are all built on the same platform: the VW D1. The interior of the Flying Spur is so much more roomy, though. I'm sorry I don't have any photos yet of my Spur (other than the wheels that WheelMedic did for me); the weather's not been very cooperative in the last few months. You're in good company. In reviewing the CGT Supersport, Clarkson came to the conclusion that if you want a speedboat, buy a speedboat (DBS), don't try to make an oceanliner (Bentley) into a speedboat. Here's the Top Gear video: You're right, it's tuned very conservatively. As Jones said, just a flash changing some of the limits can give you 50-100 more horses and still keep the car well-mannered and safe. I've talked to some of the people who tune these cars (GIAC, PES, and RSC) and they say that there isn't a lot to gain by reducing back pressure, although they are are happy to do custom downpipes and exhaust if you want. Great video on the Aston Martin DBS Carbon Black, but now you're comparing apples to oranges. The Carbon Black is 100 grand more than the 2012 CGT. Clearly it's the better track car. A better grand tourer? I'm not sure I'd trust any Aston to get me coast-to-coast without problems, whereas the Continental series has a great reputation for reliability. However, I agree, it's a very cool car.
  22. I respect your taste. The tan and blue is over-the-top, but I would rock it with this exterior color (I think this is the car it's out of): http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2012_bentley_continental_gt_1_cd_gallery.jpghttp://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Bentley-Continental_GT_2012_800x600_wallpaper_45.jpg
  23. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Bentley-Continental_GT_2012_800x600_wallpaper_08.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Bentley-Continental_GT_2012_800x600_wallpaper_2e.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Bentley-Continental_GT_2012_800x600_wallpaper_4b.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Bentley-Continental_GT_2012_800x600_wallpaper_45.jpg Three minute video of images/Moby score: 6-litre, W-12, twin-turbo motor makes 567 bhp and 516 lb/ft or torque, AWD quickshift 6-speed ZF automatic with paddle shifters enable double downshifts, shift time is 200 milliseconds, rev matches on downshifts. Zero to sixty in 4.4 secs, top speed 198 mph. Is anyone here into these cars? I have a hidden motive for asking ......
