Tickets are sold.

Pity, that would have made it such treasured keepsake ....
-
I'd buy one. Could I get it personalized, for example, with a depiction of ND2Race's F-body blowing up when he runs it against my Benz? :nutkick:

I was asked by a potential buyer to display a scan of the tickets. I have two admission tickets for each day (6 tickets total), plus two each of the displayed souvenir, track lap, and gift shop discount coupons. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/tix.jpg

Good intro, and I like what you've done to your ride. I hope to see you out at the meets. +1 rep

The things I remember from when I was a kid thread

Well, my real childhood memories would seem just as absurd and distant .... -
The things I remember from when I was a kid thread

How hard it was to kill a dinosaur, but then how the whole family could eat for a week ..... Playing with my toy rocks and dreaming of the day when I would get my first grown-up rock .... How everyone's favorite subject was History because the class only lasted a week ....... Laughing at Og when he invented fire and telling him it had no practical uses ..... How a bunch of us would mod our "wheels" and then argue about which ones were the fastest, coolest, most authentic ........ Hmmm. I guess times don't change that much. -
I was asked to give more specific information about these tickets. Here is what was posted in the promotional information for the "Project Mugello" package: "I am really happy to announce that Project Mugello at Indygp is officially open with the availability of special grandstand seating for the Desmo Owners Clubs. The battle you always fight with seating at a large track like Indy is that the competition is waaaay down below these giant grandstands that offer a sweeping view of tiny little machines battling it out below. We have that battle won. These seats offer prime viewing of the Turn 1 4 infield. The grandstand is roughly 15 feet from Pit Out and 25-30 feet from the apex of Turn 2, which is expected to be a massive passing zone. This is serious real estate - fans will find themselves 10 from Casey Stoner as he rides out for his sighting lap, and 30 feet from one of the top passing zones on the track, all the while having a excellent view of 4 5 corners all within 150 yards. It's an extension of Ducati Island, so all the activity and Ducati Only Parking will be right there just yards from your seat. What better place to show our team spirit by re-enacting the famous Italian Mugello grandstand Ducatisti Display? At the beginning of the warm up lap everyone seated in this grandstand will be part of this world famous tradition. Tickets are $125 which includes general admission ($50) and a seat in the Ducati "Project Mugello" grandstand ($75). To purchase tickets contact Zack Houston at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway who is our group sales agent. 317 - 492- 8411. Ask for a seat in the "Project Mugello" grandstand. Your members must be able to verify which club they belong to and the name of the club President. Zack can also exchange any previously purchased tickets for these seats. These tickets also include a special Project Mugello fan package that among other items includes a lap of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on your Ducati! " Without proof of ownership of a Ducati, you won't be able to access Ducati Island (free food and drink) and you won't have access to the Ducati parking. There are tickets for gift store discount (10%), one lap around Indy on your own bike (Monday only), and the souvenir ticket doesn't specify what you get. My understanding is that although the seat is numbered, you can sit wherever you want. The people in this area are all Ducati fans, but it's a fairly mellow group, so no, I don't think they would pound on you or anything like that.

Congrats to Jason, the new world record holder! -
Happy to see you here. Is that true about liking threesomes? PM me.

You may be "Phil" to the rest of the world, but I'll always fondly think of you as Bro Rape. :gay2:

Well, you're right about that, but it becomes the default gathering when all else fails. Advanced was a lot of fun and it was good to see all the folks, but when most everyone heads out at 9 p.m., there's pretty much a void to fill. I know that ND2Race and a few others weren't ready to call it a night yet, but most everyone dispersed: families took their younguns home, the hard-core foot racers left en masse (no doubt to hatch some nefarious plan for covert foot races on public sidewalks), some scamps left to prowl the Brewery District, and others had previous plans for the evening. Thorne and I headed up to Polaris Sonic on our way home. I complain about the police attention around Sonic, but it was the only place I knew of with cars and gearheads which was still hopping after 10 p.m. And it wasn't just ricers there ..... a number of autocrossers, drag racers, and drifters were there, some of them CR members, but it was a light showing compared to what Sonic was like 6 months ago. And regarding the behavior at Sonic, frankly, there were fewer burnouts from Sonic Polaris last night than there had been earlier at Advanced--one of those burnouts DIRECTLY in front of a police cruiser! It seems difficult in this area to have a regular gathering on a weekend if we want to exclude people "different than us." But it's hard for me to put my finger on what "different than us" means. From CR I meet people of all ages, professionals, working class, and the unemployed, people who ran 8's at the strip and had a 3-figure racing investment while others probably had to carefully budget their money in order to buy the gas just to make it to the meet. Gun nuts, cops, mechanics, corporation presidents, and college students. We race F-bodies, Vettes, JDM's, trucks, motorcycles, pony cars, Neons, Subies, jet skis, Lambos, old schoolers, my gawd we even let Cobalts park near us But because of the work of the CR core staff (administrators, moderators, event coordinators, membership/sponsorship people) we're somehow able to gang up together and have fun. Some of our members are even kind enough to haul out their barbeques and feed us! BTW, did anyone think to offer Mr. & Mrs. Beast a donation to help defray their expenses? But I think that sometimes when we attempt to separate ourselves from others we consider different, we can fail to see what we have to lose by excluding them. It seems to me that one of the strengths of CR is its diversity. If we refuse to go to Polaris because the ricers "desecrate" it or because some alleged street racers got caught near there, then we're probably going to have to settle for much smaller weekend late-night gatherings. I hope that Sonic on Hamilton catches on for us. It's a big lot with good lighting, easy to find, and has good foot-racing areas close-by. But if it doesn't, we might be left with Polaris by default. I'll stop ranting and go back to my room now. "We have met the enemy, and he is us." -Pogo

Bro Rape paid me the $40 in full tonight. Thanks, and good luck at the track.
-
Good intro and great truck, there, Robbie. I hope to meet you at Advance on Saturday night.
-
Oh, I'd whine and make excuses, but I'd have to accept it.
-
Hmmmm. Let's see. When (not if) you win, you'll be up in that distinguished group who have beaten the Lotus on a roll ..... currently that group consists of Cobalts ...... rarified territory indeed.
-
Shush that kinda talk ...... do you want BroRape back posting on this thread?
-
Well, if I ever get off the triple niner at triple digits, I will have at least died doing something that I loved doing.
-
Even two-up, you were keeping up pretty good on our way up to Prospect on the twisties last Sunday, as I recall.
-
Well, I had some good teachers ....
-
Nah! Nothing in it for you. You'd just be beating some ol' man and you'd end up with his trashy, outdated bike.
-
Unfair advantage for him ..... I couldn't resist the casinos.
-
No problemo, amigo. I'll beat you without spray and on street tires.
-
You & me, R1 vs. 999, once around I-270, in the rain, for the pinks.
