For the second time in recent months, a giant sea creature has washed ashore in California. First it was a rare oarfish that had grown to a freakish 100-foot length. This time it was a giant squid measuring a whopping 160 feet from head to tentacle tip.

These giants look different but experts believe they share one important commonality: they both come from the waters near the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant in the Futaba District of Japan.

Scientists believe that following the 2011 disaster at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant an unknown number of sea creatures suffered genetic mutations that triggered uncontrolled growth – or “radioactive gigantism.”

Unfortunately, this cadre of mutant giants seems to be drifting towards the continental U.S. Local officials in Santa Monica, CA – where the creature drifted ashore – tried to calm residents. “This creature appears to be deceased and even if alive only thrives in water,” said Santa Monica Parks Manager Cynthia Beard. “We intend to move the creature in pieces to Scripps Research Institute so that they can study it,” she noted. Although not yet well understood, radioactive gigantism is said to result when radiation causes changes to the growth regulating portions of the DNA of affected organisms. When growth regulators fail to control cellular growth, an organism may reach many times its regular body size.

Local radioactive gigantism expert Santa Marino College biology professor Martin L. Grimm, PhD said that the nuclear disaster may have had some unintended benefits. “These creatures give us the chance to study radioactive gigantism,” he said. Grimm believes that harnessing radioactive gigantism may be like harnessing the atom to create atomic energy. “Imagine a tuna fish that could feed a city the size of Austin, Texas,” he said. “This is the possibility of radioactive gigantism.”

Others find the giant sea creatures to be a potential safety concern. Even before the giant squid washed ashore, the U.S. Coast Guard had issued a “blue alert” for residents in central and southern Californian coasts “to remain watchful.” Yesterday Admiral Sandy Duncan-Roberts said that she would need to raise the awareness level to a “yellow alert” which asks resident to “exercise caution” along the shoreline.

Are giant sea creatures really a threat for those on land? “Take Jaws but make him the size of a Manhattan skyscraper,” said Bruce Kenner, a marine biologist at UC San Diego. Kenner thinks that gigantism might distort sea creatures' navigational systems. “If that guy took a wrong turn onto the coastline he could level 40 city blocks thrashing before he comes to rest,” he said.

Residents are anxious now that a second creature has surfaced. “Before we only worried about parking when we went to the beach,” said Marquise Griffon. “Now we have to worry about Godzilla [stuff] coming after us.”

If any residents spot an unusually sized sea creature, they should call the U.S. Coast Guard hotline at 1-800-BIG-FISH (or 1-800-244-3474).

Id like to believe its real (Due to all the radioactive crap that leaked into the Ocean when japan got NAILED by that Tsunami) but i just dont know if i do... Its so hard to believe that something like this COULD happen, I just don't see it happening...

  2. One of my friends dad did sprint car racing when we were younger, always LOVED looking at that thing in his garage.

Also it looks so fun, doing one of these races is definitely on my bucket list! Be awesome if there was somewhere you could rent a car and do it at.

  3. Holy shit dude i just want to say Congrats for losing all that weight and keeping with it! Im not a person who lifts weights or anything but the transformation youve done within the past year is shear amazing! I used to weigh 240lbs but im down to around 150 and i thought that was a huge transformation. What youve done is just amazing! Pretty inspirational if you ask me.

    Keep it up man!

  4. I wonder if they have a speed limiter on them (I.E. 65mph?) or something of the sort. I feel like tons of car enthusiasts are going to "Rent" them and go beat the crap out of them and then drop them back off, or they would want too, but i feel like they would have a speed limiter and rev limiter, and im positive they have GPS tracking (So they cant be stolen) and probably some type of G-Sensors or a BlackBox to where if there in an accident or something they can tell (Hit a pothole, scrape a car, etc.)

Gotta read into the website (Only read what was posted on here)

  5.

WHY!?! That could of been a great swap car if the motor was trashed, or something! Could of even been a track car if it was title-less, or someone could of filed for one. Seems like a waste of an old GTS (I believe its a older GTS) to me! Also in the comments they say 4 more to go! I hope they dont crush 4 more vipers! WTF is wrong here!

    DAT WIDEBODY!!! :masturboy::masturboy:

  7. There is an article in Motor Trend this month pointing out how GM was great at creating "number maker" cars - high gs, fast lap times, etc - but didn't feel "fun". They say that GM knocked it out of the park with the C7, ATS, and CTS. I don't think it will meet all of your targets but maybe look at a new Chevy SS?

Do they have that article on the MotorTrend website? Id really like to read it.

  8. Wonder if it's faster than a C6 Z06 with the same tires (not the same sizes).

The z06 comes with R Compound tires from the factory? Cause the Z/28 does. Also i heard it has the biggest front tires to ever be put on a production car (285 i think? might be bigger). Pretty sure the rim size is 19x11 front and 19x11.5 rear. Also it has huge brakes front and back (15"+ rotors all the way around, multi piston fixed calipers)

Also something about the Z/28 it has all there most advance technology at the time (Traction Control, Stability, Magnetic Ride etc.) and then you can also get it with hardly anything in it. I know it comes without sound dead-ener (sp?*) and a bunch of other little things. Manual seats for weight, redesigned back seats for weight, a lot of little things to drop the weight.

I predict that this will also become a collector car here in a few years, i dont see them making the Z/28 for long and i predict that they will be worth there money or close too for the next 10-20 years, then after that will become a really nice collectable car. Can't say that i dont wanna drive the shit out of one though, they seem like a SWEET car. Plus i absolutely love the looks of it, best looking 5th gen period.
