  1. Achbach does more BMW repair than anyone else around. He's the only one I know of in the state that is using OEM BMW paint, which is water/based. But he is slow and expensive. Good guy in general, but it all comes down to the individual doing the work, as always. I dont know all the ins and outs to body shops but I do know he uses paint chips to match colors and with the water/based paint the colors are always spot on (from what Ive seen). my $.02
  2. I have my set point 1 manually trigger via a micro switch on the trans that grounds one of the 2 external switch wires on controller when in first gear only (traction limited)

When Im in first this limits boost to 15psi.

When I shift out of 1st it ungrounds and goes to set point 2 which is ~20 psi. I want this to be my pump gas limit.

I want to setup a 3rd set point that limits boost to 25psi for water/meth for gears 2-6.

I havent figured out a way to set the ebc up so that Im able to have it switch from SP1 to SP3 when I want it too.

Id like to be able to do this without having to make a change between 1st and 2nd gear.

I called turboboost but no one is interested in returning my call.

    Thoughts.

    TIA.

  3. i've considered one of these cars with 4wd, and 4 doors. have they got the fuel pump issue resolved? i'd have to mod the car to over 400rwhp to be remotely happy with it though.

to answer a previous question, the pricks are on the outside of the porcupine.

Since we've been doing the recalls with the updated pumps, I cant think of any cars we've had with fuel pump related failures. Not saying it doesn't happen, just saying they've been significantly reduced. imo.

turbo failures are very far and few between. I can think of two we've replaced since the car has been introduced. and that was waste gate related.

  4. I expected more from your post sir.

    You disappoint.

    haha.

I do not have any magic fix it fingers.

I cant think of anything that hasn't already been said.

Those coilovers use the stock upper strut mount correct?

Im guessing its something in the spring and or strut mount.

My camber plates clunk the same way. Through the wheel and tunnel.

Might consider raising the car up, take the wheel off and have someone turn the wheel. Mine can still be felt with no load. Whether youll be able to tell anything or not I dunno but it'd be my first step.

  5. First: nice brakes

You talking fender to tire rub, or you're worried about bottoming out? If you have offset, tire size issues and you rub in hard turns on the street then yes you will rub, if you're just rubbing on the street when you hit aweful expansion joints then I think you'll be ok.

If you're talking ground clearance the track isn't THAT bumpy. I've taken many many lowered cars around Nelson and never had ground clearance problems.

My 996 had no issues and it was pretty darn low.

    Andy

    thanks.

the brakes are one of my favorite upgrades.

yeah usually rub on fast dips in the road. not necessarily corning. so we'll see.

just signed up. cant wait. havent had in track time in several years.

hope the weather holds and the car stays together. lol.

  6. still contemplating.

feel that maybe my "street" car is too low for a bumpy track.

anyone going that has a relatively low car?

I rarely rub on the street but I usually dont get the chance to do many high speeds corners with it.

    Thoughts?

  7. Edit: I looked mine up on the HF website. Mine is going for $199 right now, it is the one with the square lifting pad. Keep an eye out for coupons and you can get it cheaper than that price.

Ive had this one for over a year or so and its been great. I think they offer 1 or 2 year replacement warranties for cheap too.

Oh and the newer 20% off coupons from HF dont apply to floor jacks anymore.

  8. The BMW ZF trans allow for engine oil in most of their trans anyway right? Atleast until they went to mtflt1 I think. We use 15w-40 or ATF whenever we do flushes on older cars. I cant imagine it would harm anything to use the 10w-60. But I dont have any first hand experience.

BTW I retail the TWS at $12.50 all day everyday at Kelly.
