  1. Guy on the deuce & a half seems to be giving you the "Quit takin' pics of my hotties" look.

Phoenix isn't for everyone. It's certainly not for me, but it seems like you're doing well so far.

  2. I know those little guys. They're super quick, it looks like they teleport themselves a few inches at a time but I've never been bitten by one I don't think. It's definitely not one of the dangerous evil spiders we have around here, so I wouldn't worry.
  3. The 900rr didn't make all that great power for what it was, but was a decent bike from what I recall. Be warned if the dude thrashed it badly enough to break the trans, who knows what else might be neglected/damaged. At least parts are cheap. If it was me I'd just look for a good engine/trans and swap the whole shebang.
  4. How in the world could it possibly cost $3k-$4k to pull a bike engine? Most bikes are very easy to work on. Nothing is too heavy to shift around comfortably, things are usually less corroded, and as long as some idiot hasn't boogered all the screws work goes pretty quickly. If you can do it on a car it will be a welcome piece of cake on a bike.
  5. You can get any kind of fancy chain/cable you want, but if someone knows what they're doing you're screwed. Cables/chains/locks/etc are pretty easy to deal with using cutters/sawzall/torch, which is why you want insurance. As long as it's not something the local 12-year-olds can cut with their safety scissors, you'll be fine.

In my experience a good 3/8" or 1/2" chain will last for years and years submerged, buried, etc but I don't know about salt water.

  6. Maybe a dumb question, but is the filter clean? A dirty filter can cause the coil to ice over, making the AC run constantly without actually being able to cool the air.

If the system is low on refrigerant the coil will ice up with a quickness as well. If you ever hear the AC running but the airflow from the vents is weak or nonexistant, shut it off and look for icing.

  7. Last I heard (and this was months ago) whatever lake city plant that makes the 5.56 nato load has been running round the clock nonstop for years and years. I don't know if that's true or not, but ammo companies are cranking out more rounds than ever. I can't imagine what would happen if we opened up importation from china!!!

It's always good to have a few cases stockpiled at least, but the obama-scare was the worst I've seen in my shooting lifetime. If you want to spend a couple grand now, and sell in the 'shortage' go for it.

  8. I had a friend of a friend back in UA that brought in a grey-market fairly late-model Mini from Canada. I remember very little about it other than it was dark grey and even being nearly new was a piece of shit. Why someone would pay that much for an old-ass economy car is beyond me.

That being said, I'll LOL when people pay $50k for a "survivor" civic si in another 60 years.

  9. Full face helmet is all I've ever used, but keep an eye on your neck and chest. Any exposed skin can get a sunburn from welding.

BTDT. I don't know how many times I've fired up the old lincoln "Just to tack this in place" or some other small BS thing. 10 seconds of welding turned into a few minutes and the sunburn sure does creep up on ya!

  10. The rising price of .40 is what pushed me towards 9mm. If I'm going to pay that much for ammo I'll just buy .45. There's been scare-bullshit about ammo shortages for years and years, almost as long as I can remember. It's almost always bullshit.
