I have the story behind that turbo now from a guy that used to be friends with him. The evidence against this kid continues to mount.

I am about to have a heart attack. That looks just like him except, if that is him, he has shaggy hair now. Also can't tell how tall the dude actually is in this pic but I am 6ft 2in and he was significantly shorter than me. He was real thin too even with his jacket and everything on. This jeep looks just like his as well but the license plates aren't the same. (Maybe he changed them) Dude also WREAKED of cigarettes. I mean, the box he gave me the turbo in had to be put down the basement b/c it smells so bad. One other thing, he said something about having an Evo IX and Evo X that his GF bought him with her $500K+ she got from a settlement due to being in a car accident and having her back broken. I don't know what to believe with this dude and what not to...he also told me he lives off Ponderosa Drive off 161...that's all he said and I don't know if that is true or not. but that picture looks eerily like the guy...

yeah, he said something about a mustang when I met him up and he did say slomo kept blowing his motors. My wife just talked to a Columbus Police office that her family is friends with and he said with the evidence I have (text messages guaranteeing the turbo was in "perfect" condition) and all that I should be able to take him to small claims court and win. I need to get his last name and address first. Can't take someone to court if you can't find them.

What kind of tampons are they? I prefer Tampax Pearl which is why I always carry my own, but in case I forget to put a few in my pocket, just need to know what kinds I am looking at having to use. (No cardboard applicators would be great).

I agree with you that I should have brought a flashlight (which I intended to but forgot and remembered when I was halfway there.) I agree (now) that I should not buy any car parts off someone unless I know them personally or buy it brand new from the retailer (sad you can't trust anyone). Lesson learned. This is my fault. I am now under the mind state I can't trust anyone. Hindsight is 20/20. It won't happen again. Thanks for pointing out I shouldn't give my hard earned money to someone without extensive research, as I didn't just learn that from this experience. To address a few responses here we go... 1.) Do I want his address, yes, as well as his last name, I would like to confront the guy face to face to tell him he can either give me my money or the police and prosecutors office will be involved. I do NOT want it for the purpose of doing anything stupid like physical harm. Not going to physically harm another human being over $350. 2.) Miller, while I appreciate your offer, If I have someone do something of my choosing to another individual, and I am paying them, I had mind as well do it myself. That being said, I do NOT want to go to jail over something like this. 3.) OH8STi, I agree, I should not have bought the turbo under low light conditions where I could not give it a full, proper examination which would have allowed me to see the slightly curled 7 out of 12 fins. As for it being "my fault", partially yes, however, I don't think that makes bold faced lying and deceiving (fraud) right. I feel this individual bears a greater moral responsibility for lying and deception than I do for giving him the benefit of the doubt. 4.) Boosted 98GST, I am happy to hear of your skills pertaining to blindfolded turbo examination and perhaps next time I buy a turbo, you could be a real pal and examine it for me and maybe give me a few pointers. Maybe we can both do it blindfolded Star Wars style.

The different backgrounds should have been the first clue, I agree. Live and learn. As for people running the plate #'s, only LEO's and PI's can do that investigation as that info is not available to the general public (unfortunately), and a police officer needs "probable cause" to run someones plate #. I am not making any threats. That would be illegal. I am simply stating my potential options to to rectify the situation.

I inspected in the giant eagle parking lot at 5pm (dusk). Shaft play was what would be expected for having no oil or coolant...nothing out of the ordinary there, and the thing looked brand new...no exhaust residue or anything. Clean as a whistle from what I could tell. It wasn't until I got it home and was able to look really closely at the compressor fins with my LED light that I was able to see the issue.

Nah, I met him at the Giant Eagle off 161 and 71. If I catch him him, I will just tell him he owes me $350. If he refuses, I will tell him he is about to have a whirlwind of legal trouble both criminal and civil and see if that changes his mind. He will get what is coming to him in the end be it through me or someone else. God is watching you creep. I have my CCW and always carry so me being stupid in a situation would get that revoked and I don't want that to happen so that is my incentive to watch my P's and Q's.

Don't get me wrong, these things are a blast in the about 5 inches of snow, but I just can't bring myself to put a car this old in that situation...hoping to get a newer soob one of these days that I can thrash in the winter time. I love getting sideways when I can.

Not sure if it was salt/winter free before before I bought it this spring, (well it being the new year, I guess it would be last spring) but it is salt winter free for now! Sitting in my garage! It is clean. No rust on the outside. 136K on the body, JDM engine so I am not sure how many actual miles are on the motor but she runs strong. 14b turbo with no shaft play. She is a beauty. I paid $2800 for it, may be a little high, but couldn't help it...so pretty and like you said, most in this area are garbage that kids destroy. Forgot to mention above, also put a set of Good Year Eagle GT's on it shortly after I bought her.

OK, so last evening I went to meet this kid named Jordan who had an Evo III 16G for sale. Said he got it from Forced Performance then bought a bigger turbo off his friend so he didn't need this one anymore. The #'s matched the Evo III and looked like it was brand new, never installed; which is what he told me (I have the text messages to prove it.) I checked it for shaft play in the low light of the Giant Eagle parking lot at 161 and 71. Nothing out of the ordinary. I paid him and we went our separate ways. I got home, and started doing some further inspection , and start twisting the hot side while looking at the cold side with an LED flashlight, and the gosh darn center isn't staying in the center! The center rod has to be bent! And sure enough, 7 of the 12 fins are curled back from the point of their rotation where they rub the inlet! I texted the dude about it and he kept telling me that is was normal and nothing some oil and coolant wouldn't fix. Said to install it and if I wasn't happy he would give me my money back. I got 2 other opinions from 2 guys in the DSM community I have a lot of respect for and they confirmed it, this turbo can NOT be used! So I sent the kid a text today, and called him and left a VM. No response. I call him about 20 minutes ago...he discontinued his phone#! I don't know if the compressor housing had been taken off and the turbo dropped, causing the rod to bend or what but there is no way this guy didn't know about the turbo's condition. Watch out for this guy! His name is Jordan. His # before he discontinued it was 614-935-5658, and he drives and Red Jeep Grand Cherokee with license plate # EWX9473. If anyone has any other info on this guy they can give me I would greatly appreciate it. Ripping people off is garbage! Stay away from this guy! P.S. One other detail, this guy kept bashing slow motion saying they blew his motor he had $10K into and kept telling me I should go to IPS for everything I need. Thanks for the kind welcome Gents, (and ladies if applicable.) Try to keep the car clean. These things get bad reps because kids make all this HP and don't properly maintain them so of course they break, first few hundred bucks was spent on new front calipers, hawk hps pads in the front, new OEM ceramics in the back, all new rotors, and stainless steel lines all around, as well as new front CV shafts, redline in the trans and rear dif, and a detailed wash and wax. Still need to do suspension and bushings, but I figure I am at the point right now where a few bolt-ons here and there won't hurt.

I will pass on mowing the lawn. A bit cold outside. Thanks for the suggestion though. Much appreciated. Masta' G, while all things are for sale for the right price, I doubt the right price would be offered by anyone so I feel I am safe to say that for the time being, it is not for sale. If you want to try to change my mind though, you are more than welcome to try.

Thank you. Anyone know where I can post a warning about a scammer here in Columbus that ripped me off on a turbo I bought last night? I need to get his info out to warn others and see if anyone has any info for me to help find this guy as he changed his phone # today. I am new to this forum so any help in where I should make that post is much appreciated. My access on this forum seems to be limited though.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I apologize for the rudeness in not doing this earlier as I registered some time ago. I have been in Columbus about 10 years, own a 2006 Trailblazer LS 4WD and a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. Car is stock minus the turbo timer, but I have a stockpile of goodies I am hoping to have installed by the end of spring. Will try to get some pics of the Talon up soon. -Ryan
