An Awesome Ending To An Awesome Year of Racing... RENEGADE 10.50... We had 20 cars vying for 16 spots and when the dust settled Ed Richards in his “sissy sticks” equipped 85 Monte Carlo SS claimed the TI Dyno #1 qualifying spot. Once again, qualifying was extremely tight and filled with many new faces while absent of several familiar faces. Semi-Finalists were Ed Richards and Shawn Coon in his 55 Chevy Bel-Air. The finals came down to Paul Carillon in his 71 Monte Carlo vs Jr. Phillips in his 68 Camaro. Paul, who at midweek was not expected at the track due to the passing of his father-in-law, pulled off the “miracle” victory with a little help from above to produce what I believe to be the first ever PERFECT RENEGADE 10.50 PASS with a 10.500. He needed every bit of it to hold off the charge of Jr. Phillips. After the race we learned that not only was this his first RENEGADE victory but his first victory in 20 years, Congrats Paul!!! Shearer-Fab 8.90... The Shearer-Fab 8.90 racers had a strong field of 17 cars trying to claim one of the 16 top spots. The Chumley Motorsports #1 Qualifier was, once again the man, the myth, the legend "Chico" in his 1963 Chevy II with an 8.902!! Unfortunately Chico went down to mechanical gremlins, which entitled Gary Moore the TI Dyno Assassin Cash . With the championship on the line, several “Spoilers” reared their heads including that of Scott Williams and his 1965 Malibu SS from Warren, Michigan. Semi-Finalists were Bob Getsy in his stick shift equipped 1957 Chevy and “Big Charlie” Moore in his nitrous fed SBC 69 Chevy Camaro. The finals came down to our championship spoilers of Scott Williams vs Jeff Clark in his nitrous fed BBC 69 Chevelle. Jeff, who had announced earlier in the season that he is moving out of state, and was not expect to make our season finale. However, he decided before leaving he was going to officially put his stamp on the RENEGADE RACING ASSOCIATION series by claiming his first Shearer-Fab 8.90 victory. Jeff best of luck from our family to yours!!! 8.90 POINTS CHAMPIONSHIP The Championship boiled down to two racers Al Matuska and Paul Suloff who were tied in points after 5 events. Going into the season finale both racers knew they had to be on top of their game, and also knew it could come down to a face to face tie-breaking shoot-out. When both racers were eliminated from competition in the second round, the pressure of the championship set in. These two have proven themselves time and time again to be amongst RENEGADE RACING ASSOCIATION'S elite. In the Championship Shoot-out both cars left with their wheels in the air and sporting nearly identical reaction times, at mid-track Al’s 65 Malibu began reeling in Paul’s jackrabbit quick 67 Camaro and at the stripe Al claimed the double breakout victory by a scant margin of .003. Congratulations to Al, Paul and all the 8.90 Points Championship participants. 2011 8.90 Points Championship Top 5 Al Matuska – Champion Paul Suloff – Runner-Up Gerry Penn – Third Place Gary Moore – Fourth Place Jimmy Getsy – Fifth Place Street Lethal Performance Outlaw Limited Street... We were once again blessed with a strong showing of these wild and often unpredictable machines, with 9 cars vying for the top 8 spots and after the qualifying dust settled, Don Turner “Mr Z” in his nitrous fed Z28 Camaro claimed the the Ultratech Racecars #1 Qualifying Award with a 5.19. In his first appearance, Shawn Earp and his nitrous fed BBC 69 Camaro made it to the semi-finals, along with Chris Nau and his 83 AMC powered Spirit. The finals were a rematch of September’s race, which came down to Chevy vs Ford, Turbo vs Nitrous, and once again the nitrous-fed 1982 Camaro Z28 of Don Turner claimed the victory when the turbo-charged 2002 Ford Mustang of Keith Sletvold could not fire in the staging lanes. Mr. Z claimed the most victories in the Street Lethal Performance OLS class th3 2011 season – Congrats!! Debut of RENEGADE 9.90 In the debut running we had 13 cars, #1 Qualifier was Ray Tumbry in his 68 Yenko inspired Chevy Nova. Semi-Finalist were Scott Spaulding in his purple people eating 70 Cuda and Will Carroll in his turbo-charged 05 Mustang. The finals came down to Ray Tumbry vs Jeff Kinnan in his AAR inspired 70 Cuda, Jeff claimed the victory in his first outing with the RENEGADE RACING ASSOCIATION, he also claimed the Goodyear Last Man Standing Award. We were very impressed with the caliber of racecars and the initial car count, which means the class is a go for the 2012 season!!! The next 5 cars were also in the 10.50's and the 16th qualifier ran a 11.01. The elimination rounds were filled with upsets and close racing with no clear favorite in site. The semi-finalists were Jim Loveland, Jack Brown, Denny "Big Show" Moore, and Brian Burns. The finals boiled down to a classic Chevy vs. Ford (Car vs. Truck) match-up, Denny Moore with his 1969 Camaro defeating Jack Brown's 1980 Ford F-100. Dennis had Jack covered on both ends of the track to secure his 1st Renegade Racing victory in two years of trying. Jimmy Loveland claimed the Ashtabularacing.com “Assassin” money for knocking off the #1 Qualifier, as well as the Hydrocustomz "Custom Cash" award for his topsy-turvy efforts leading up to and including race day. Ray Tumbry secured the Goodyear Tire "Last Man Standing" bonus. Jim Mikesina Services pitched in to sweeten the purse for Denny Moore. The Chumley Motorsports #1 Qualifier was Al Matuska and his nitrous fed 1965 Chevrolet Malibu, running an 8.911. The top 5 qualifiers were all under 9.09, and anchoring the #9 spot was Gary Moore. The elimination rounds were filled with several tight finishes and narrow margins of victory. The semi-finalists were Gerry Penn, CHICO, Gary Moore, and Paul Suloff. The finals came down to Gerry Penn in his big block Ford powered 1989 Mustang vs CHICO in his 1963 Chevy II. CHICO claimed victory off the starting line with Gerry Penn going red. The next 5 cars were also in the 10.50's and the 16th qualifier ran a 10.75. The elimination rounds were some of the closest races the series has ever seen, with margins of victory of less than .002. The semi-finalists were Jim Loveland, Jack Brown, Mike Walker, and Ed Dominiak. The finals boiled down to a classic Chevy vs. Ford (Car vs. Truck) match-up, Ed Dominiak with his 1969 Camaro defeated Jack Brown's 1980 Ford F-100. Shearer-Fab 8.90 Highlights and Recap We had a full field of 16 racers who kept the crowd entertained late into the night, wrapping up our final round shortly after 1:00 am on the 4th. The Chumley Motorsports #1 Qualifier was our very own webmaster, Ray Litz and his turbo-charged Firebird, running an 8.91. The top 6 qualifiers were all under 9.06, and anchoring the #16 spot was Brian Chumley with a 9.68. The elimination rounds were filled with several tight finishes and narrow margins of victory. The semi-finalists were Paul Suloff, Ray Litz, Gary Moore, and Al Matuska. The finals came down to Paul Suloff in Big John's 1967 all motor SBC Camaro vs. Ray Litz, in a classic power adder vs. all motor final with Paul Suloff covering both ends of the track to take the win. Paul took advantage of the Wright Tool deal so he will be receiving a check from Wright Tool for his victory, and Ray Litz will also receive Wright Tool runner-up money. Street Lethal Performance Outlaw Limited Street Highlights and Recap Don Turner takes another victory in the Street Lethal Performance Outlaw Limited Street Class as well as his second Ultratech Racecars #1 Qualifier bonus with a 5.22. The hot temperatures and the high track temps put a damper on seeing the true potential of the cars that were entered in the race, however the crowd was crazy about the displays of raw power and the drivers ability to guide their cars down the track. Dave Hinzman's Pro-Charged BBC Mustang is capable of running over 200mph, so be on the lookout Dave's return later on this season to give Don Turner's nitrous-fed big block Camaro a true run for his money. First off, thanks to all the racers, all the fans, and the people that helped make this race happen... Let's get down to the racing highlights for the Renegade 10.50 class first: We had 18 cars trying for the 16 spots - The TI Dyno #1 Qualifier was Mike Walker with a strong 10.507, our next 4 qualifiers were nipping at his heels all with qualifying times 10.55 or better. Skippy Stone (Skippy Did It Racecars) anchored the 16th spot with a 11.12. Each rounds competition got stronger and stronger as eliminations wore on, making it to the semi-finals were Ed Richardson, Will Carroll, Lee Leppert and Mike Walker. It came down to Will Carroll and Mike Walker in the final round with Mike Walker claiming the victory with a 10.50 to losing 10.49 by Will Carroll. Mike also claimed a bonus put up by Skippy Did It Racecars to the winner of this seasons first race, he unfortunately did miss out on claiming the bounty put up by ashtabularacing.com by not placing the AR decal on his car prior to the race. Goodyears "Last Man Standing" award went to Jimmy Pelcarsky for being the last car in the 10.50 class running Goodyear drive tires. Shearer-Fab 8.90 The field consisted of 12 tightly grouped cars and when the qualifying dust settled the Chumley Motorsports #1 Qualifier was Jim Getsy in his 1964 Corvette with an 8.95. Al Matuska will be awarded the Ashtabularacing.com "Assassin" bounty placed on the #1 qualifier. Eliminations were fast and furious with several tight races being declared by thousandths of a second, the semi-finalists were Big Charlie Moore, Al Matuska, Bob Getsy, and Walt Masilunas in his ultra-sanitary '71 Camaro. In the end, it came down to Big Charlie Moore and Al Matuska battling it out for the Shearer-Fab 8.90 final. The spectacular finale was decided by just .005 of a second with the victory going to Al Matuska, Al also captured the Burt Brown Racing Transmission "Fast Reacting Challange" with the better reaction time in the final. Goodyears "Last Man Standing" award went to Paul Suloff for being the last car in the 8.90 class running Goodyear drive tires. Street Lethal Performance Outlaw Limited Street Even though the car count was light the action was not!!! The Street Lethal Performance OLS cars wowed the spectators with some crazy displays of raw horsepower on a small tire. The Ultratech Racecars #1 Qualifier was Don Turner in his nitrous-fed Big Chief headed big block Camaro running a 5.20. The eliminations boiled down to a pair of nitrous-fed machines (one of them was an AMC!!) versus the turbo-charged entry of Wes Blankenship. Unfortunately the final was a bye run due to mechanical issues on Blankenship's Camaro, but Don Turner put on a great show sneaking up on his tune-up with a 5.11 final round pass. Well I think we might have saved the best race for last with 16 racers making up the show with alot of new faces making their first race appearance with the Renegade 8.90 Racing Association. Ultratech Racecars #1 Qualifier was "Kool Ray" Litz with his mighty turbo charged Pontiac Trans-am, with a 8.906 followed closely by Paul Suloff and his all motor 1967 Chevy Camaro with a 8.907, and Larry Reese and his super charged 1992 Ford Mustang were also in the 8.90 mix with an 8.908. Qualifying was ultratight with the first 8 cars all being qualified quicker than 8.99. "Big Charlie" once again captured the BEST REACTION TIME prize, a dragracing "tree" decorative bottle provided by the Reese's Semi-Finalist were "Kool Ray" Litz with his Pontiac Trans-am and Al Matuska with his Nitrous-fed 1965 Chevy Malibu. Big Charlie captured lane choice in the semis with a 8.91 (defeating Ray Litz) over Paul's 9.01 (defeating Al Matuska), to match up #2 and the #5 qualifiers for the finals. In the finals, it was Big Charlie gaining the starting line advantage turning it into a holeshot victory with an 8.94 to the quicker 8.92 of Paul Suloff. (Both drivers will receive photos from JohnBoy Photography). In addition to his victory Big Charlie came home with the winner's purse, and the Goodyear Tire Certificate. Jim Breeze captured a prize provided by "Skippy Did It Racecars" - If any of you caught his monster wheel stand you would know why he deserved a special mention. Dennis Moore won the TI Dyno "Sweet Sixteen" Prize for being the #16 qualifier. In addition to our 8.90 program we had 8 cars participate in our first 10.50 index. #1 Qualifier was Chris Hill and his turbo charged 1982 Camaro Z28, he recieved a $100 bonus provided by Mike Brown Customs for his efforts. Skippy Stone (of Skippy Did It Racecars) captured the BEST REACTION TIME prize, a dragracing "tree" decorative bottle provided by the Reese's. In the final it was #1 qualifier Chris Hill vs #2 qualifier Skippy in a classic Ford vs Chevy, Mustang vs Camaro with Skippy pulling out a narrow victory. Both drivers will receive photos from JohnBoy Photography. Ultratech Racecars #1 Qualifier was "Big Charlie" Moore and his 1969 RS camaro, with a 8.962 followed closely by Al Matuska and his 1965 malibu with a 8.963, but that wasn't the last these two would tangle during the night. "Big Charlie" also captured the BEST REACTION TIME prize, a dragracing "tree" decorative bottle provided by the Reese's Semi-Finalist were Don Turner "Mr. Z" in his 1982 Z28 camaro and Mark Davidson in his 1992 firebird transam. Al captured lane choice in the semis with a 8.92 (receiving a bye to a broken Mark Davidson) over Charlie's 8.93 (defeating Mr. Z), to match up #1 and the #2 qualifiers for the finals. In the finals, it was all Al Matuska when Charlie unfortunately lit the big red bulb to end his night. In addition to his victory Al came home with the winner's purse, and the Goodyear Tire Certificate. ATTENTION 9 AND 10 SECOND STREET RACERS Bring your car to race this Saturday's and the 9/18 races at Thompson Raceway park in the Renegade Racing Association (See class rules for details). We are looking at expanding our class to include high 9 second cars and in order for this to happen we need to show the track that we can attract enough cars for the track to allow another class or an expansion of the existing class. It's $50 at the gate to enter - goody bags, possibly a shirt (supplies limited) and we have a good group of guys who are really helpful and our payout is 100 percent. We've had a pretty successful season to date and we are looking at bettering our show and in order to do that we need your support. There are currently NO places to race in a heads up type environment where a high 9/low 10 second car can be competitive until NOW. We have a few ideas for this expansion but we need the car support to try them out. Thanks

National Trails Raceway is offering Renegade Racing Association racers who attend the 8/28 race a free weekend crew pass with a paid entry for the NHRA Unleashed Sept 10-11. a $30 value. The gate will honor Paul's business card for the offer, they will be available Saturday. To qualify to race in Unleashed you have to be an NHRA member with car #, Competition License, Chassis Cert. . It would be good to get as many car there as possible because he is considering running our Renegade Racing Association class there in 2011.

Paul Suloff defeated John Cron in the finals. Semi-Finalists were Gary Moore (who was defeated by Paul Suloff), and Ray Litz (who broke and was unable to compete in the semi-finals). Ultratech Racecars Number One Qualifier was Don Turner with a 8.942. Ultratech's Bounty winner was Paul Suloff for defeating Don Turner. Street Lethal Performance Best Reaction Time winner was Ray Litz. Ray also won DANNY'S ORGANIC MARKETPLACE Going Green Challenge. John Cron won the Morris Family Chiropractic $50 Bounty on Al Matuska's Back. Paul Suloff also took home the RCCrafters.com $50 All Motor Bonus.
