  1. Boss driver is solo and has some seemingly legit sponsor stickers... I'm not familiar with MAM but that's a pretty short straight to allow point-bys for a novice group. Guessing it's advanced or instructors out there. STI driver even says in the video, "I only gave one point by." The one point for one car rule is there for a reason.
  2. Tens of thousands of people die from the flu each year. If you're a normal, young, healthy guy, you're at low risk of dying, but herd immunity will help product the elderly and babies who are at risk. Flu vaccines are proven to save lives. If you're able, you should get one. Consider it a civic duty.
  3. Oh, I don't need the whole URL? I R dumb.
  4. Youtube is great though, it's like, do you want to try this? Sure! And then, do you like the result? Nope! So I just undid it.
  5. Thanks guys, glad everyone had a good time. Congrats to Joe on whooping us all. I'll put up video later, although my guess is after lap 1 all you'll see is me slowly falling behind das borgen.
  6. For those who signed up, I'll be wearing a bright orange hoodie tonight.
  7. Normal track. They're only doing the super track on certain weekends now.
  8. 4 slots, one of my friends just bailed. Spread the word, this happening regardless but it would be nice to get more people out there.
  9. If all you want is a convertible sports car with a V6, there are plenty of options. I just want one for Miata money. I can't get excited about Alfas unless they intend to sell them for working-man money, which I don't think they ever will.
  10. I don't like diesels or 4WD or VWs, but I would seriously consider buying something like a Cruze SS Wagon -- 270hp from a turbo 4 driving the front wheels, in LTZ trim with a manual trans and no sunroof. In burgundy, not brown, because I'm classy like that. I already drive a lowered Mazda5 wagon with a manual so I've got some cred, although I haven't bought a new car in a long time so I don't think GM would ever listen to me. Bonus points if they replace the mac struts with double wishbones. I don't think you can get a family car with double wishbones anymore, though. I might be interested in a Miata with a V6. That always seemed like a winner to me, but I can see how it's a slippery slope, next thing you know you're competing against $35,000 low volume sports cars and the Miata has always been about being cheap and popular.

  12. Thanks for the bump. Not sure why this didn't fill up faster.
  13. Accord Coupe, EX-L V6 stickers at $30,775.
  14. Interesting. Very interesting. That's a hell of a way to separate the men from the boys, water down the corner before the longest straight.... eta: And now I want to go karting tonight...
  15. Are they grinding the surface on that section? I'm assuming they shortened the blue track accordingly?
  16. Yup, the site requires Paypal. Don't fret, I don't think it's going to fill up in a day
  17. OK folks, here it is: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f4bafaa2cabf85-inaugural October 23rd, 8pm. $45 gets you 3 races. I'm capping the number at 10 because that's what my groupon was for. Anything over that and the price would jump up to $62 for non-members, and that messed with the accounting. I'm requiring paypal on sign-up to avoid flakes. I know that's got it's own downsides, but I'm keeping this simple for the first go-round. We'll see how this one works and go from there. Let me know if there are any questions.
  18. The issue in question is, I think, the OCPD guy who said, "Basically, if it won't pass MD inspection we're going to ticket for it." AFAIK that violates the privileges and immunities clause of the constitution because it unfairly punishes people from other states. However, if MD has a specific statute that says the wheels can't stick out past the fenders or something, then it's perfectly constitutional (People v Hutchinson) to ticket out of state drivers for violating that statute, even if their home state has no such statute. And I don't think JB is denying any of that in his editorial, he's just saying that the cops should look the other way because children are the future, or something I can't quite understand. I'm a big JB fan but I think he's wrong on this one.
  19. This article's from last year, but you'll get the idea. Ocean City doesn't want these guys around, and if they can get a little bit of ticket money to cover the police overtime and trash collection, more power to 'em.
  20. Yeah, me too. See, I found myself in Ocean City this past weekend because, as has often happened over the last few years, my wife's family's mini-reunion coincided with H2Oi. Here's my FB status from Thursday: While the vast majority of these guys just want to cruise slowly up an down Coastal Highway in order to attract the wayward stares of other young men while (harmlessly) annoying old farts in minivans like me, any time you get a large group of testosterone in one place like this you're going to get some assholes who ruin it for everyone. And you don't need to stand on Hwy 1 for more than 5 minutes to spot some of these assholes street racing from stop light to stop light while families are waiting to cross the street. Yes, it's a slow time of year for Ocean City, but it's still a tourist town and there's still tourists there. I also take issue with JB's assertion that 99% of these cars are slammed and poked and cambered and stanced and whatever else might violate state law, and 99% of them aren't hassled at all be the dozens of cops that are stationed along Hwy 1. If they impounded every car that had "too much poke" then they could have just fenced off the campground where the show was held and called it an impound yard. No, they're there to keep the 1% of assholes at bay. I'm sure some innocents are caught up in the melee, but for the most part, I'm 100% comfortable saying that this is a group that needs to be policed. The first year the cops don't show up in force for this thing, it's going to be a complete shitshow.
  21. Motor is seized, ran without oil and I pulled the pan just to confirm that there were bearing bits in it. It's fucked. Not parting it out because I want my garage back ASAP. I was just curious if anyone knew which of the many "cash for cars" people was paying the most.
  22. My friend blew the engine in his 96 Camry, it's sitting in my garage and I want it gone. Who's going to give him the most money for it?
  23. This is what I tell people who think that getting a speeding ticket is like being accused of murder. By my best estimation (I lost count) I've been given 17 speeding tickets. I've probably been pulled over 30 times. I tell people "If you could pay $150 a year to be able to drive pretty much as fast as you want whenever you want, would you do it?" And they say, "Of course!" That's my life. (caveat -- I travel a lot and most of my tickets don't end up as points on my OH license, I'm not encouraging anyone to break the law, YMMV, etc).
