you should do a high performance driver's ed (hpde) thing with NASA or run the driver's ed thing with the porsche club...my fiance did both this year at mid ohio and it seems to help a lot of people out because you have classroom instruction and an instructor in your car it's usually under $400 for two days and you get 3-4 sessions on the track each day depending on the club you are doing it with

iracing is ok...we have it with a wheel set up and such, but to get points and move up in rank, etc, it's kinda hard....my fiance says it's nothing like actually being on the track...you start off as a newbie with crappy cars and people purposely run into you and such and you lose points for all sorts of stuff and it just keeps dropping your rating... it's ok to do some practice around the track so you get used to what you should be looking for when you actually get on the track if you are a scca member, you get a discount on your iracing membership, though
