I was harmonda on BG too. Traded my '06 in for a C6 Z06 last year. This was my goat... http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6046/6386022803_4b5b3d9712.jpg DSC00295 by harmonda, on Flickr http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3376/3513066230_a8431242f2.jpg DSC00294 by harmonda, on Flickr

I'm telling you...this museum is really small but is packed with crazy and interesting stuff. All the personal items, documents, pictures, flyers, tools, equipment, etc. sitting around each display is facinating.

better view.... http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6117/6354869135_ebe918d03f.jpg PB150173 by harmonda, on Flickr

I have a 60gal. unit that runs on 220 and I think the auto shutoff is somewhere around 130psi. I got it at one of those travelling tool bargain sales at our local VFW for under $400. I run all types of air tools including an HPLV gun, impact gun, grinders, plasma cutter, etc. I plumbed quick connects to central spots around my shop with standard copper. I haven't had it fall behind anything. I sprayed about 150 ft. of fence last weekend and it only kicked on every 15 minutes or so of continuous spraying. I've found that the quality of the tool really matters. I have a cheapy Harbor Freight grinder and it seemed to waste air. I replaced it with a mid-priced Husky and it made a huge diff. So I say spend your money on the tools. I think the decision on cheap vs. higher-end compressor comes down to what you use it for. I'm a hobbyist. My el cheapo is perfect for me. If I was making a living off it...I would be against a unit like mine. Size-wise tho....This thing can handle whatever one operator can throw at it.

Ya...check the past winners before you give any credibility to this 'honor'

I've got the crappiest bright blue, stiff hose that kinks if you look at it right now...so very interested in the answers here.

crap...I don't have the pics here. I'll post-up some examples tonight.

I'm intriqued by the Judge...is yours the PD? How is it to shoot?

If you dig old-school drag cars you gotta hit the Don Garlits museum down in Florida. It is small and not worth a special trip...but it is right on the highway just south of Ocala so if your travels take you past there...stop. It has one building full of his old swamp rat cars as well as examples of some of his competitors' rides, trophies, racing suits and custom parts. There is a second building dedicated to his private collection of cars, trucks and automotive collectibles. If you dig vintage pinstriping and hand-painted race car lettering and graphics it is heaven. I'm working on a design idea for my other tat sleave and I may integrate some stuff I photographed while I was down there the last time. My tattoo artist is primarily an old-school fan and this is right up her alley.

That's actually an awesome reason to dabble in the dark side...so to speak. I hadn't thought of it that way. At least if you pick up a used unit you won't be feeding the beast directly. Hmmm.

I beg you to educate yourself before spending any of your hard-earned money based on the advice of the fanboys in this thread. Looking cool is highly subjective and it's importance is relative. If by 'starter' you mean something that will prepare you for future Apple purchases...sure...but if you want to learn something useful in the workplace...or...most personal use computing...you are on the wrong trail looking at Macs. And finally...and I sold Macs for years...Apple is the worst company on the planet in terms of 'designed obsolesence' of every product and version they release. As a professional...I respect it...don't get me wrong. It is an art and they are good at it. They are selling a trend not value and I made lots of cash peddling their story before I transitioned into the corporate IT world. So, arm yourself with knowledge, ignore the hype, and if that leads you to buy a Crapple....so be it.

...oh and all that being said....my LCR is slowly becoming my favorite gun. It's only safety is a looooong trigger pull. Does anyone know if the internal hammer on an LCR is in contact with the pin or does it have the typical blocking mechanism ruger does so well? Or maybe it just backs off the pin once it resets and the trigger is fully forward? I guess I'm somewhat of a hypocrite not knowing that.

I always prioitize the safety scheme of a gun prior to purchase as well. My primary gun is a SA 1911. It has a chambered round indicator, grip safety, half-cock hammer position, No-fire when the magazine is removed, keyed disablement mechanism and a very positive-action standard safety switch that even rotates up and blocks the slide. Lots of guns besides 1911s have some or all of these. I don't dislike "trigger safeties" but I would never personally want a gun that relies on that as the primary safety. I know they offer revolver-like fire-ready times to autoloaders and that is important. Just not my thing. I bought a Walther P22 for my wife. It is a really fun plinker but I neglected to notice it uses a safety switch motion oposite of the standard 1911. When I shoot it I always have to remember that. Another example....I grew up shooting air guns and still do. Most of them use a button safety...quick hit with your trigger finger and you are ready. So, when I shopped home defence shotguns I made sure I found one with that safety scheme. Every time I've had to use it under pressure I've been happy with that decision. I'm trying not to be a Glock or XD hater here. I know they are reliable as hell, light, sweet trigger pulls, smooth operating in all ways. But when I think of myself maybe waking from sleep or maybe injured grabbing for a gun...or my wife needing a gun in a pinch....I worry about the safety scheme as much if not more than stopping power, sight visibility/geometry, ergos, etc...

There is already a new version of this thread available from Apple that costs more but is just short of matching competing threads' content. :gabe:

I heat the ground floor of my garage with a torpedo heater when I need to....assuming that would be a dangerous practice around paint though? Or maybe you could heat it up for a couple days so the pad gets warm and then cut it off for the painting?

I think you have to know someone who hunts and is willing to participate in an informal transaction. I think...correct me someone if I'm wrong...that it is illegal to just sell deer meat. I've heard of butchers gettting busted for it.

even better. I'll pm you the details.

I guess I missed the part about someone doing it for you. YES.

I hauled mine back from Indianapolis on my car hauler. I absolutely recommend an open trailer. The top piece the way they packed it was the ramp with the ram under it. It weighs about 850lbs. You'll need an engine lift to properly lift and position everything. Otherwise you will need lots of help. I used high-capacity tie-down straps and a corvette body lifting rig wrapped around each part to lift it. I was by myself so balance was critical. I was able to lift everything off the trailer and completely assemble the lift as a one-person job using this method. I got mine from Greg Smith Equiptment and they have been great to deal with. I burned out the motor and they replaced it with a whole new power unit under warranty. Good luck. Feel free to PM me if you need advice or help.
