  1. Yeah, I was looking to see if there was a film that had the graduated tint built in (such that you would still film the whole window - just at the bottom the film would be clear). Agree the 'let's just put a strip at the top' looks like crap.

  4. My mother-in-law would like to tint her driver's side window with something that's darker up top but effectively clear for the bottom 2/3 of the glass. She's been told by shops in her area "no can do". Thoughts?

Here's some of the stuff from the NHRA quick reference that it takes to run between 10.99 and 10.00: - Aftermarket rear axles - Bellhousing (SFI 6.1/6.2) - Driver restraint system (SFI 16.1) - Driveshaft loop - Flywheel/clutch (SFI 1.1/1.2) - Harmonic balancer (SFI 18.1) - Helmet (of course) - Padding roll bar - Protective clothing - Roll bar - Transmission shield (SFI 4.1) Interestingly enough, a lot of the items above (like the bombproof bell housing) are required at 11.49. The 'neck roll' though is not required until 9.99. Go figure. @NRHA: Really? Stock Nissan GT-R times are ~11.2 http://www.nhra.com/competition/etquickref.aspx
  8. 11.405 @ 129.23 with a 1.864 60' (I suck!). Got told to slow down regardless of my suckage so that was that. First two runs were 12.03 and then 11.65 so I was getting better.... Need that RPM roll cage and a line lock. I ordered a shift light but it did not come in time and I am not coordinated enough to pilot the car and look down to watch the tach at the same time so I was shifting by ear. May need to do a little chassis tuning too. Spun through first easily but then also felt like it wanted to come unloaded in second. Anthony said I wasn't in the 'good lane' Was awesome fun though. I expected the car to feel squirrelly up top due to the skinnies and aired down DRs, etc. She was steady as a rock.

  10. I heard there was some brouhaha with your equipment. Feh. My first time drag racing: 12.03, 11.65, and 11.40 back to back. When I got to 11.40 I was pulled aside (very nicely) and told to "slow wayyyyy down" (no roll bar). Decided to pack it in and watch. Thanks to the organizers (especially Brian and Anthony). Had a great time. Appreciated meeting lots of you.

  13. I salute you sir. Life is too short to live in fear of what might happen next. Awesome space. I thought about opening up a large storage center as a 'retirement gig' but then fitting out a large amount as automotive servicing so me and my pals would have a place to hang and work on cars etc. Be following your project with interest...
  14. Had Bassani's on my '07 GT. Stepped it up considerably from stock but without that obnoxious "the cops can hear me from 20 blocks away" noise. Kept the deep exhaust tone (no rasp or drone). If you want something really aggressive, with the rest of the exhaust stock, it might not be for you.
  15. Stupid rain.... Thank you again for all the help. So far so good on the DRs - no weird behavior. Now for a nice, dry day.

  17. Pulled off the cheek pieces, not there. All the other lining around the bottom is glued down and now I am thinking FFFUUUUU. Then I figure out it's actually under the lining mid way up in the helmet. There's almost a flap separating the upper lining from the lower.
  18. I bought a new Simpson 'Bandit' the other day from Jegs and I can't find the rating sticker. User error?
  19. I managed to blow a large chunk out of my driver's side header gasket so I went home early. The back straight was fun but the stock suspension Shelby was a night/day different handling experience from my '07 GT and not in a good way.

  22. Been thinking about E85 vs. 93 plus Torco. At this power level it's a significant investment in gear (different fuel pumps, lines, injectors, etc.) Not to mention the retune. The upside is that the Meijer's about 10 mins from my house has E85. Some of the things guys have mentioned here like the water issues are definite drawbacks. I can see managing the fuel level for the times the car sits might be a problem.
