A rally car through that little track would be awesome. Actually, at 3.2 miles long, it'd be one heck of a rallycross track if no one bothered to fix the tarmac surface, put some proper grandstands up, and address safety for drivers and fans.
Lots and lots of corn in Iowa, although there are definitely some woods-y areas around!
I'd hope that someone from Phylony Digital, or just an enthusiast with deep pockets will take some time to at least restore the surface and make it driveable. From what the comments on Jalopnik said, the surface wasn't strong enough for the original Trans Am cars with their massive tires and torque, so it'd probably need to be all ripped up, hugely resurfaced underneath, and repaved; worth it though, in my opinion.
