  1. The Akebono fixed 4-pot caliper and 14-in rotor require a minimum of 18" wheels, even then, not all 18" wheels would provide enough clearance radially, laterally, or both. If I could say anything about tire set for autocrossing, I would suggest running scrubs in order to keep the street set in a nice condition. In case you didn't know, street tires used in autocross tend to become rougher in ride quality as edges are chewed up.
  2. It has happened to me but it was the other way around. It took over a year for the package to return to a US address. The experience told me to use DHL/FedEx instead.
  3. Here is a weird fact. My '15 (5.3l FFV), '16 (5.3l), and '17 (6.2l) Sierras had a 98-mph (160 kph) speed limiter, but my '18 Silverado (5.3l) had a 112-mph (180 kph) speed limiter. Have you actually taken your truck to its top speed?
  4. C5 is more than just LS1. Its chassis is much stiffer in both torsional and bending; the suspension is greatly improved in the rear. Regardless, a C4 is still fun and in this case it's a good entry into the world of RWD sports car. Any chance she would be interested in participating in a competitive event?
  5. There are flat spots on the axle tubes acting as saddles for the spring packs.
  6. Sounded like the route that my '85 took for me. It was basically one thing led to another. The story is long, but I enjoyed the process somehow.
  7. I never had leaking problem with my '15, '16, '17, and '18 trucks. If there was a leaking problem, a dealer should take care of it. There are "lift blocks" on the rear axle. They're about 1.25" thick. Removing them might achieve the lowering amount you seek and it's the easiest, near-free method.
  8. Was that photo taken at a WORSCCA event at Kil-Kare?
  9. Regarding driving in the winter, I drove my '85 equipped with (slightly oversized) winter tires in Columbus winter. IMO, the '86 can be an effective teaching tool (with proper tires) for such driving condition when traction limits are approached and exceeded. Also, when changing the fuel pump, did you see if there was water pooling in the bottom of the tank?

  11. Meijer has a sale on Mobil1 to bolster the saving.
  12. In what kind of temperature range that these fasteners are expected to operate?
  13. 2.5 inches. I have more if needed.
  14. And it's time to pass the wheels along, maybe he had a use for them.
  15. Mike, do you need a set of track-package wheels?
  16. Congratulations on the Mustang, Mike!
  17. If you're interested in 18x9.5 and 18x10.5 Fikse FM5 wheels built specifically for a C5, let me know.
  18. Congratulations on the C5! I see some stick-ons too
  19. After decades, it still has lines and curves that can compete with sports cars in production nowadays. Well done.
  20. It happened in the test mules which are expected to reveal design flaws. Development of a model line doesn't stop when the first unit rolls off the production line. Numerous revisions are performed during the life of the line and some are done after for various reasons. I'd be glad that such a structural weakness could be found during the early, pre-production stage, let GM sort it out. If it's anything, I'm glad that the powertrain-drivetrain and suspension are up for such a power level.
  21. Very few places like Costco has a narrower spread. There's also a Marathon station (maybe two) with a 24-cent spread.
  22. I seriously doubt the bill would ever pass, just like the many many times in the past.
