  2. A v160 costs over double what a t56 magnum setup does these days, plus nearly all of the internal parts are discontinued. Not to mention the shifter location is 6" further back than the factory location
  3. They might be good for that, but they shift like trash, they shred third gear and the countergear, those aren't sold anymore so you have to buy a whole.new r154 and then rebuild that.   4. That doesn't negate the fact an fbody t56 goes for $2k+ and a magnum is $3k.....
  5. Shifter placement is a big question mark right now. I'm going to look into that tonight and see what's what. The magnum has 2 shifter options, as long as one is close then so be it
  6. I've got a car to do it in, a kit I'm going to use to drop it in and a trans already picked out. I'm literally just needing the basics on cam selection and ecu selection. The trans isn't in hand but im going to use a t56 magnum as I've stated earlier in this thread. I'm not gonna buy a beat t56 out of an fbody for 2200 when I could just get a magnum for a little more and have no worries
  7. Literally just the longblock. You are reading way too far into this. I have $2500 and I'm wanting to put together an ls engine. I'm not sure how else I can put this dude. This is like saying "I have $5 for oreos and $7 for milk, what's the best I can get" if you want to go the condescending prick route.
  8. I'm going budget engine with s t56 magnum. I'm 100% done fucking around with transmissions that can't take me beating the fuck out of it. My $2500 budget is literally JUST FOR AN ENGINE and associated mods to it. Ideally the cheaper the better because it goes in the piggy bank for a TT kit or blower on down the line. At this point I'm just wanting a stout, 400+ whp/tq engine in the bay that can rev and make good lower through the rev range. I don't want to build the bottom end for something na, I don't have any desire to use nitrous and I dont think any blows would work. This is literally a budget to just get the engine in the car, excluding mounts and exhaust.

  14. So I've been looking into the thought lately of toying around with an N/A LS project. Ideally this would be in a manually shifted rwd shitbox, on a somewhat tight budget. Say $2500 (including motor purchase price) excluding all the fuel system minus small adapter type stuff. Would one want a 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0? High revs aren't required, however an emphasis should be placed on an abundance of power across the board, as tabletop like a dyno sheet as one could muster. I know one is the same as the next as far as reliability on an NA goes. I'd even consider putting in a stockish LS1 into whatever for the weight savings. I'm sure down the line it could get a set of twins, but I don't plan on it. Just wanting something to whip around an autocross course that is dead nuts reliable and will take what it's given with a smile. I've got literally no idea what cam to look at, or whether a new set of heads would be needed. I know different iterations of each engine exist, but I'm not motivated enough to travel cross country to get some oddball combo'd LQ4 that is ultra wondercool.

  16. So I decided to leave the floor alone after seeing how it looked with a darker paint and updated baseboards. I cleaned it a few times with water/vinegar and this weekend I think I will hit it with some floor restore that people go nutty over on Amazon. I grabbed a miter saw, and got an absolute steal on a 6gal air compressor, brad nail gun, 3 other nailers and a finish nailer at menards for like $240. Need to do the bedrooms and office still, but office is needing paint and I bought everything Menards had as far as this trim goes. I also switched over to white receptacle covers instead of that nasty 60's almond white, while I was at it I instead 20ish new receptacles. Over half in the house had issues grabbing my tester tightly and all were backstabs instead of screws. Definitely need to paint the doors white and maybe even update the door trim, or at least paint it white. That should be a bit easier than the baseboard trim though.
  17. Tim or anyone else who has redone their own floors, how long did it take you to sand it? Big pain or not bad? I keeo seeing everyone saying thst it takes forever with an orbital sander plus it STINKS. Debating going to vinyl plank for numerous reasons, those included.

  24. No. Gen 1 v interiors make me puke, plus they have some quirky body electrical issues iirc
