  1. Thanks man Scotts are working for me, guessing it is on your side. I use sunex swivel impacts, never heard about their boxes. I would not hesitate to buy another HF box.
  2. Interested to see everyone else's setups both for work and even at home. I finally got a new box that I have been wanting since I got into wrenching professionally. The Snap-On Roll Cab Express (big fancy truck with "model" boxes on it for you non-wrenching folk) came by about 2 months ago and I custom ordered this box to replace my old Harbor Freight 56"ish box. It was so overloaded in the top drawer I actually had to pick it up to get it to close, but it has close to 310lbs worth of sockets in it. I needed some more space and I wanted a "forever" box with the ability to add on lockers or whatever. Not the biggest out there but suits me well, plus the purple and matte black were a kickass combo. I couldn't see even a rendering of it when I got it since the trim had not been put on the website yet. I also just wanted a chance to show off my fancy new purchase lol. My only big complaint so far is that the matte black shows fingerprints SO BAD. For those curious it's an Epiq 84" with a bedliner power top. 10 or 12 outlets on the stainless steel top, and the drawer with the sticker on it also has power to it for battery chargers, etc and "holsters" for electric or air tools. I have been slowly switching to all cordless tools so that really pushed me further into getting this box. I don't have a pic of that it but I'll grab one Monday. Hoping next year when this is paid off and the roll cab truck is back around I can get 2 matching lockers for my big stuff since this box is pretty well loaded up now. Also would love ideas on how some of you old heads (ahghfgCordell) organize your box for a little more space.
  3. You’re a douche but I hope it goes great for you. Everyone I know who had the balls and brains to go it alone has come out on top. I’m sure it will be worth it!
  4. Could you just not be a dumbass and just buy something cheap before you bury yourself in a a 19.8% loan?
  5. V6 any sports car that is domestic is a depreciation trap. If you want practical and easy get an accord. Don’t waste your time with a v6 mustang and especially not a v6 challenger. Honestly if you are having trouble getting financed on a $16k car odds are you really need to put your focus on other stuff in life other than a fun car for awhile, or at least get a suuuuper cheap fun car like a $2500 Miata. Also BIG lol at the Lincoln, id put as much worry into the roof fucking up as I would the hybrid battery dying.
  6. Cordell knows more than me, but you can't always be reliant on idle change to show a vac leak. Just today I had a Tahoe that had a vacuum leak that would only present itself in scan tool data and idle would not change. Just food for thought.
  7. Dude I was just wondering about you the other day. Glad you're alive and okay
  8. 135i (no LSD ) 335i Maybe a C5 or C6, but they don't have the creature comforts I would like in a daily, plus sucky winter. Newer Si with an LSD, maybe FoST but no LSD and ricey, would also consider a combo deal if I were you, older E36 or E46 325/8i+ with a newer cheap econobox daily, or even an E46 M3 should be within budget. It's hard to daily a project/fun car IMO. It's not worth having to crunch to get something done by X time on a Sunday night.
  9. Knew someone who ran into this, he was up shit creek. Inspectors cover their ass and basically are held harmless.
  10. Towing 3k lbs with a vehicle rated for 3500 for a long period? Do you have a will setup?
  11. Dude those bikes in the background give me an insane amount of anxiety right next to that car lol
  12. Mind picking up some of the cost of my new box? I need it for my career after all.
  13. Glad I can subsidize your loan
  14. How many have YOU bought vs. how many has your DAD bought?
  15. Are cracked heads on these things common?
  16. Debt reduction, CC first, pay off mortgage if it is at or below that, then look into investing. $50k is a lot, but I’d use it to get mostly debt free first. Can tell them NOT to go out and buy a new car, boat, motorcycle or other dumb shit.
  17. Not super for or against the wall. We spend a lot more money on MUCH dumber shit. Build it, at least we are trying something I guess?
  18. They are around, most I’ve seen for sale lately have blown headgaskets and are in Facebook marketplace.
  19. the line should flare with the same difficulty generally speaking. If you get desperate try just replacing as much of the line as you can with the copper looking line, that's the only thing I will use at work on replacement fuel/cooler/brake lines. It will be a touch easier to flare by hand. For anyone interested this is what the "professionals" use. Well worth the money for me, even a DIY job on a GM truck needed brake lines and eventual fuel lines this is well worth it IMO. It takes me 3 minutes or so per flare on the vehicle assuming I can do it on car. Off car it's less, likely 30 seconds to a minute. Not nearly as much prep required on the fittings as compared to the "by hand" method. I don't clean up my cuts at all and I've never once had an issue and I do 2-3 sets of brake lines a week on average. https://www.amazon.com/MASTERCOOL-72485-PRC-Universal-Hydraulic-Transmission/dp/B06WD86RLH/ref=sr_1_2?crid=WGRQ03QWF4Q3&keywords=mastercool+flaring+tool+kit&qid=1550103021&s=gateway&sprefix=mastercool+%2Caps%2C136&sr=8-2 I think this is the same kit Matco and Snappy sell for $500ish. Their is a $30 cheaper version but I think it lacks trans cooler stuff not positive though.
  20. A majority of plan owners do it with the intent to send their kids to a traditional 4 year college though...
  21. Okay. You act as if I give a fuck what a 5'9" internet stranger thinks about me.
  22. Not to thread hijack but what exactly does this stuff do?
  23. Mostly. I work at a super small shop, it's me, one other tech and the owners brother (who runs it/does service advisor stuff) I can quote what I want within reason, come in late or take off early within reason, healthcare is paid for, I have a guarantee built into my pay, pretty laid back. Cons are since it's an indy shop in a poorer section of the state I see a lot of rusted out shit and people wanting something for nothing, but generally it's enjoyable and the owner understands cars suck to fix and that shit happens while doing it. 9.8/10 do enjoy. Big plus will be once my new box comes in
  24. This I feel so bad for your kids by you shoving them into college. They don't have any concept of the amount of money they are going into debt, let alone how long it takes to pay back, LET ALONE do they know (usually) WTF they wanna do with their lives. But just keep contributing to the biggest bubble in America's history by all means, I'll take my sore back and retirement at 55
