  1. Here's the thing, if I had another newer sporty car, it would get driven. It's MUCH easier to drive something with air conditioning and power steering to work that doesn't scream "pull me over" or "break into me" I could fix the supra, but it's money wasted. The car won't be good at anything other than rolling burnouts on the street and neat 3rd gear pulls. I could buy all the suspension parts availible for it, have a harness bar made and get seats for it, but that would be $5,000 down the drain id never get back and it isn't worth that to me. I know you dont get money back out of them you put in, but damn, if I'm missing $5k away ill go get some hookers and coke. It's not that I dont have time for a sports car, it's that I don't have the time for the Supra. It's an event driving it currently. I've gotta make sure the laptop is with me, make sure it's charged, check the lights, check this, check that. It's just not fun or easy. I'm wanting something I can hop in and drive with comfort. Yeah, all that sounds good and fun to people who don't work on cars and do that similar routine daily, but once your work becomes your fun and vice versa it blows. Oh not to mention cant forgot to turn the fuel pump onto run in the ecu to make sure the filter isn't needing cleaned, make sure the base pressure is a steady 45psi. Then once the fuel pump heats up good luck having a conversation over that since its loud.
  2. A c10 would likely end up with an ls swapped in. Those swaps seem to be pretty easy anymore and it would be something I enjoyed and could leave stock while enjoying it
  3. No clue just seems low to me. I get 25 at 1k rpm in my car.
  4. If i wanted people to stare when I pull in somewhere I would just hit the 2 step and be that guy.
  5. No. That's no where near my interest lol. The only "old" vehicle that is of any interest to me is a C10. Old cars suck, finding parts is a nightmare and when you do, you pay out the hole to get it even though it's marginally better than what you currently have. No thanks lol, I'm in that phase now and it sucks. No trim can be purchased new, even used its $500+ for BNIB window trim. I'm not paying Porsche prices for a janky Toyota. More and more I'm leaning towards the C5 route with a c10 for a winter daily or even buy an xj each fall and just sell it to the taters at tax time.
  6. Ehhh, really not too big, I'm not going to daily some gas guzzling pig. I'm not too sure what you're getting at here
  7. Kind of where im at. I think a C5 would be a nice compromise between what I want (nutty rwd car) and something refined with some comforts (ac and handling well). It isn't insanely priced but is almost at the bottom as far as depreciation goes. It gives something to build on and mods are cheap and plenty of builds out there to mimmick.
  8. The one lingering issue I have with ST's is the insane rate of depreciation they have. Obviously most cars will, but it really seems to hit them hard. It's a double edged sword. Part of me sees the deals, but then I know they are deals because of the quick depreciation.
  9. Supra good to roll around with on the street, but without major investment it won't be good at anything else. I don't really want to chase anything, I just want to have a car that can be driven to meets in relative comfort, be taken to any events and have fun with and is cheap to maintain. I really have no desire to race motorcycles, I really just want out of the bike and into an enduro bike or something similar. I have place near me to ride, but I also don't mind driving to ride somewhere. I don't ride the bike because it isn't very comfortable and it gets hot as fuck in the summer, not to mention no one pays attention anymore.
  10. GSXR has gotta go. I'm too big and I'm just not into it anymore. Too many close calls on it and it's just not comfy to ride anymore. If i stay with a bike ill go street glide but that's a decade down the road.
  11. In a way I'd be against it, barring the 3rd is $1k or less. Really dislike insuring/registering more than 2 vehicles.
  12. Then I'm back into the project situation. If i wanted any power out of it it would need an 80e, then a better rear end or at least rebuilt one, I'm not wanting to do that at this point in life. Eventually maybe, right now I just wanna get my house done how I want and have something(s?) To have fun with, either on or off road (excluding jeeping)
  13. Big reason for me to get a dirtbikes is to do enduro racing, which I've always loved and wanted to do, it'd give me a reason to get into shape and stay in shape. I like the idea of having a truck, even if it's a beater since I'm always finding a reason to need one. I've always wanted a C5 but like you said, I'm not gonna rush into anything unless it's the car I want at a price I like.
  14. So I had a local guy throw me an offer on my Supra that I don't really want to turn down, I've been thinking about moving along with life anyway and with buying a house recently and wanting to switch careers, etc. as well as the thought of getting out of big builds and maybe even shying away from being a "car guy" in general I'm somewhat at a loss as what to get next. I currently have my Supra, a 2014 Ram that I like, but really only got so I could use it as a tow rig (which I have done like 2 times), but now I am realizing I don't have the time or motivation to be a real track rat like I thought I would, and I have an '07 GSXR. The GSXR hasn't been ridden for more than a few miles in years (see lack of time and motivation). I am seeing the car head that direction, each time I go to wrench on it or drive it something pops up resulting in a change of plans or I just find something else that gets my attention (see house). With that out there for the roasting, now I need ideas on what car to get next. I've thought of a few things. Cheap daily and C5 I loved my Saturn SL1 while I had it. 5 speed, 4 doors, I am huge and it is comical. I could beat the snot out of it, go nowhere fast but have fun (somehow) doing it. It used ounces of gas and required maybe 3 scoops worth of belly button lint to get parts for. Seeing C5's hovering around/below the $10k mark for a decent example in 6 speed variant has me debating one. Just doing basic mods makes them even more capable than they already are, plus maintenance is fairly cheap as well as mods (at least compared to what I am dealing with now). Seeing Cordells and what he has done with it makes me even more interested in the platform and they have always been the car I've seen growing up and wanted (mainly a Z06, but I'm trying to be a bit more frugal). It would be nice to be in something RWD with air conditioning for a change that isn't a bitch to drive on the street. I'm sick of 6 pucks and a stinky exhaust, plus having a dump tube scream in my ear when I get on it is irritating. Nifty C10 or RCSB/ Focus ST I've always had a thing for RCSB trucks as well as C10's, the look and thought of a lowered C10 or RCSB with a V8 and 2wd is appealing. I don't need one for towing duty, but anyone with a house that does any work themselves knows a truck is always handy, not to mention I can't imagine life without a truck now. Clay has made me envious since my joining on this forum and I have always been slightly envious of his budget vehicles that are always running like a top and still get attention due to their uniqueness. I've driven numerous Focus ST's at work, finding one in stock form anymore feels like buying a used WRX. Most have been bought by a younger person, had dumb mods made and run hard, now they are offloading it after 35k hard miles. While I've never seen any consistent issues with them at work, the thought of getting someone else's nightmare again has me concerned. I like the idea of a nice newish funish car with good economy, but I cannot grasp the idea of autocrossing or having a lot of fun in a fwd car, but again, im not even doing that with my rwd car. It would be nice though to hit the course in comfort, have room for the doggy in the back on trips, and be able to seat 4 comfortbalyish if needed. I would entertain the idea of swapping out the ST for a GTI, WRX, maybe even a decent cheap 350z or anything but a Miata, as long as I fit (I'm 6'6") and the car is $20,000 or less, ideally below $15,000. Nice daily/keep truck, another "budget" build I've been intrigued by 3SGTE's lately, as well as 4AGE's, I've even debated as far as swapping a 3SGTE into a Corolla or something and just having fun, or 4AGE swapping a Supra somehow just to piss off purists. I really don't want to go this route. I already know the ragrat will set in as soon as I tow the car home and push it into my garage. I'm quite literally 110% burnt out on the big builds, I've lent my hands and eyes to too many peoples automotive issues over the last 18-24 months and my flame is out, maybe once im out of the industry it will come back, but who knows. For now I am loving smoking cigars on my back deck while sipping a Corona after doing home improvements. No more cars, dirtbikes I've also been into the thought of buying a quad or two and dirtbike and just riding when I have time. Trade the truck in on an older 3 series 6 speed BMW, pay cash for a beater truck and just have fun. Anyways, roast on and complain about my "failed abortion" of a Supra project, failed life, etc. I can promise you I've likely already heard it and don't give a flying about your opinion relating to those topics. Open for new submissions, so long as it involves a truck and somewhat fun car, I'm not interested in buying a GTR, 911, etc. Totally off the table. Also, no I'm not drunk, just on a second shift sleep schedule.
  15. 14opsi at idle? TF even?
  16. Fixed all my wiring issues, found 7 duplex receptles that need replacing, most I assume are original to the house ('67) All have at least one socket that doesn't have a solid connection to the tested when I plug it in, or they are cracked, or have something odd about them. Cheap fix and pretty simple for DIY and peace of mind. Double checked all my receptacles, all were fine save for 1 having a power neutral switched which was an easy fix. Also spent time cutting all the overhang, I didn't realize how much was overhanging until I actually got on the roof and it was pretty obvious 1/3 of my roof had good sized branches over it. Where I am standing wasn't able to be walked on before due to the amount of overhang. Thankfully I had free access to a pole saw which made quick and easy work of all that nastiness. (Yes, that is a broom on the roof. I had leaves and pine needles basically stuck to my shingles) I also realized one of my 12x10 sheds not only has workbenches, it has electric ran to it with exterior lighting and a water supply behind it! Score! Now I can keep my mower on a tender all winter and setup a grinder and other small workshop stuff inside it, plus have a nice radio setup out there for the bonfire pit behind it, maybe even a mini fridge inside the shed for beer. The grinder from WW2 inside now doesn't work, I tried, smelled smoke from it and promptly unplugged it.
  17. I know this is an old bump but thanks for posting the update. I was looking for someone to figure out my yard and the woman's parents place, I was about to call him but after reading this hell no. Thanks again
  18. Well I spent 6 hours trying to fix the sellers wiring job. Half my lighting worked, half didn't. He replaced 2 outlets in the kitchen with GFCI's and wires those correctly, I had 3 rooms with inoperable wall switches which control the fans, 2 of which had a single duplex receptacle with a reversed power neutral, and another random duplex receptacle that had a reversed power ground. Before today I had literally zero knowledge of home wiring and AC electric systems, but ive got a pretty solid grasp of DC from working on cars. I ended up taking each power control or supply receptacle with an issue out of the wall, inspected and corrected wiring, then chased the cause of the inoperable lights and outlets to this guy. This gfci was replaced previous to sale and was located in the bathroom, it was always needing reset when I got there to work, I always thought maybe the gfci itself was junk. Nope. The power wires were all loose all the neutrals leading into the gfci were as well, and one neutral had power. I don't really know what he did, but I just tore it all apart, figured out which wire went upstream and which went downstream and just referenced a diagram to see how to wire it. I was sketched out about doing it but I likely saved myself at least a few hundred if not near a grand to have someone come out and diagnose/fix it. The neutral sticking out had 110 coming to it, I think he fed the switch power before the GFCI? Not too sure and honestly don't remember what I did but it tests fine, and all lights work as intended and the house hasn't burnt down yet (to my knowledge). AC was rough to get a grasp on, I'm used to just powers and grounds and the occasional signal terms. Having the neutral basically act as a ground and the ground just be there for whateverwas weird.
  19. Gawdamn now you got me rethinking life
  20. Gawd damn you are my spirit animal. I cannot wait to tell "the man" to piss up a rope. Best of luck, hopefully I can give your meat a spin soon....
  21. Thanks man! Yea that's high on the list, I actually need to put some rock or something down on the side as the driveway tapers down as it nears the house as well after I seal it. It honestly needs repaved but If I can milk another 5-7 years out of it i'll be happy, after that its going to be a rental or sold. Never sealed a driveway, better get over here and supervise, payment made in craft beer of choice, cigar is added bonus for performance.
  22. ^ that and CR only does politics and bench racing now
  23. Oh yeah, no deep scratches or anything. The entire time I was tearing off the pad I was just bracing myself for the absolute worst, I'm still in disbelief it was in this good of shape.
  24. So got a carpet allowance, I had a strong hunch the whole house still had the original hardwood underneath, asked for the allowance to be deducted from price, seller obliged. 3 hours worth of work ripping out the old carpet, running it to the dump for $4, and tearing up the old staples for the padding and the tack strips i've got original hardwood in pretty solid shape. Going to restain the floors to a more modern color. BTW that carpet and pad STUNK Before, pissy/stained carpet Pad/carpet out, screw those stupid staples used on the pad Tack strips out, staples gone. Baseboards come off next
  25. Just bought my first house today, I'll update more tomorrow. I got all the carpet ripped out down to the original hardware and prepping to restain it.
