  1. I had no idea Columbusracing.com had so many law enforcement experts, attorneys, civil rights gurus, and long distance crime scene reconstruction specialists.

How about this, we wait until there are some actual facts produced before this is all figured out? I mean, its almost like we have a grainy cell phone video of some dumbass getting hit by a sprint car on a dark track....

Oh and for the record based on the facts I've seen something really does not seem right. There are some parts of this story missing on both parts, but I really would like to know why a cop felt the need to shoot an unarmed person in the middle of the street.

And for those who just love to play "devils advocate"; what if you totally take race out of this? What if this is a black cop shooting an unarmed white kid in the middle of the street that just got done committing a robbery?

Keep buying what the media is selling, they need those ratings and the political officials need your blind vote

Sir yes sir. Sorry for providing my professional opinion on something that's brought national attention.

  2. Has anyone thought to ask this; how well-trained is an officer that allegedly allows a suspect so close to him that he loses control of his sidearm?

You'd be surprised the amount of space you'd need to react properly. The "reactionary gap" they train you on in the police academy is 21 feet. Obviously thats not possible as every encounter is different.

Different circumstances require you to be closer or farther away from the person you're interacting with. Impossible to say though without seeing video of this actual encounter.

  3. You're absolutely right. My uncle's brother in law was shot to death by an officer in Louisiana earlier this year. He was having a manic episode during withdrawal from alcoholism and police were called to try to calm him down. He was holding a kitchen knife (like a butter knife, not a chef's knife) and refused orders to drop it. Instead of trying to taser him, or baton him, or gas him, the officer elected to shoot him with a shotgun despite all his neighbors and his wife watching and screaming to the officer "DON'T SHOOT".

My girlfriend's first roommate was killed by officers in his house in March. While he claimed to family members to have a gun, he was not known to be in possession of one and no firearm was found on his body. He was shot 16 or so times by 4 officers. No taser was used. There has been mass censorship in the local media about it.

    Both instances were white-on-white.

Both instances the person was using a deadly weapon. Officers are trained to match the level of force being used against them.

  4. Did you ask to see the speed he clocked you at? I'm not sure if they have to show you or not, but I don't see why he wouldn't show you if he has nothing to hide (for future reference).

Officers are not required to show you the speed they clocked you at on their RADAR/LIDAR. It's printed on the ticket.

  5. Went on Friday, they have 'Staties' at the metal detectors.....I would assume it's a 'no' but I would call OSHP to confirm.....

Troopers are contracted to work the fair as security since their academy is right there.

Best bet would be to call the fair number. 888-OHO-EXPO (888-646-3976)

  6. It all depends on who owns the property. If the Fair Board claims that they own the grounds (or lease it), that is now a legal gray area. As owners or lease holders, they have the ability to control activity on the property.

Since it's a state fair it may be different. It should be posted either way though. I was there last week and carried but I'm a LEO so it's a little different. I didn't notice any signs though but I wasn't necessarily looking.
