  1. I guess I haven't been following this until last night. Even though it's NCAA basketball, it could certainly spill over into the rest of the NCAA sports. I have to say, I think it's great that people are challenging the corrupt and incompetent NCAA. Even though I'm not really for nor against "paying" college athletes, some of the rules, the haphazard enforcement of the rules which can vary wildly from program to program and conference to conference, etc., HAS to change. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/11/ncaa-rules-memphis-penny-hardaway-james-wiseman-chase-young
  2. Turned out to be a good hard fought game. Congrats LSU and Joe Burrow.
  3. I wouldn't think so, but that was what they said, and that was just up until today, not including this game. Overall until the end of the season, Clemson could possibly not play 1 ranked team (regular season end ranking). Edit: Virginia Tech beat Wake Forest today 36-17. Which means Clemson probably won't have any ranked teams on their entire schedule.
  4. Fox Sports, "Easiest Power 5 schedule to date: Alabama". It's showing right now.
  5. Yep. 2 very talented teams, but a tion of mistakes on both sides. LSU just getting it done so far. A lot of football left.
  6. Everyone in the media will fling as much poo as possible until it's sorted out.
  7. From Joel Klatt's Twitter: More on Chase Young situation: - Loan was not from Agent - It was paid back before situation became public - He was truthful from start - With precedent I would expect somewhere between 1-2 game suspension...fact that it was not agent and loan was paid back will be key 11:11 AM - 8 Nov 2019
  8. I remember Pryor's 350Z was pretty used and not an expensive car at the time. No clue about Bosa and Zeke. "Columbus attorney Larry James provided the purchase agreement for the 2007 Nissan 350Z that Pryor has been driving to workouts this week. Pryor’s mother signed for the car, which cost $11,435.06 after a Dodge Charger was traded in with a net value of $7,253."
  9. Depends on all those things. But the NCAA has some really effing stupid rules. For instance, the OSU facility that tutors student-athletes couldn't even give them a pencil if they needed one. Giving a student-athlete a cookie is a violation. It's asinine.
  10. And another example why my fandom of the sport in general waivers. I'm just tired of the off-field BS by the players, NCAA, and the media. Sucks the fun right out of it. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2861830-report-osu-star-chase-young-suspended-vs-maryland-could-be-out-indefinitely
  11. Not that it means anything at this point in the season, but the Buckeyes came out swinging at #1 in the only poll that matters. The Committee has a solid Top 5 IMHO and I would not have any problem with LSU at #1 either. As the committee said, we've looked the best, most consistent, and have the best overall strength of schedule, but LSU looks great too and has higher ranked wins. Bama's SOS is surprisingly very weak so far. Clemson's schedule is just awful. It'll all work itself out by the end anyway, too many games and possible scenarios to get to worked up over just yet.
  12. Mixed thoughts. As a former student-athlete and college football fan in general, I can see both pros and cons. Just my random thoughts: -The student-athletes have it pretty good overall. Nice facilities, some nice things to help throughout your day here and there. They do a MUCH better job of it now than they did decades ago. But yeah, unless your parents were rich (most aren't), you are still just like any other poor college student. You had to rely on your parents or summer jobs to pay for things beyond a place to eat and sleep and school itself. The thing that most people don't realize is the demand on their time. If anything, I think they need more down time, rather than more money. My typical day in college went something like this: 6:45 AM Wake up and get ready - almost never a breakfast 7:30 AM 1st class starts at the opposite end of the oval from the Towers (where all freshman HAD to stay first year) 12:30 PM Finish last class and head over to the training facility while trying to find 5 minutes for lunch Sometime starting between 1-1:30 PM had to lift weights and/or watch film/study football/get taped up and dressed for practice 4:30 PM Warmups for practice began 7:30 PM Finish practice 8:00 PM Team dinner 9:00 PM Mandatory study hall at first, less often if continued to get good grades. If no mandatory study hall, you still had to go to dorm and study yourself anyway. 11:00 PM Get tired of homework try to fall asleep Repeat Almost never any down time from 7:30 AM to 11 PM at night. Could have ALWAYS used some extra time to study more or just relax. Oh and "voluntary workouts" mean if you ever want to see the field, you should probably be there. The "Only 20 hours a week on your sport" rule is nice in theory, but kinda doesn't actually get limited to 20 hours. -I don't think colleges paying student-athletes directly would be a good thing -I do think athletes making money off their likeness and signing autographs and such is a good thing. BUT this is what gets tricky. Because you KNOW if this rule goes completely unchecked, you'll have car dealerships and such in Tuscaloosa or even Cbus paying a kid a TON of money to do commercials as long as they sign with Bama or OSU type programs. There has to be a way to limit something like this where super rich donors can just sign enormous checks to recruits to do "endorsements" as long as they play for certain schools. Could you imagine someone like Phil Knight paying a few top rated recruits a TON of money each year AND putting them in Nike commercials/ads as long as they come to Oregon? I don't know the answer here, maybe some type system where things and amounts get approved through the schools and NCAA itself. There is A LOT to think and work through, and no matter what they come up with, it WILL be tested and abused by some programs.
  13. Clemson might end up not playing a single ranked team (ranking at the end of the regular season) until the playoff. Wake Forest is Clemson's only opponent still hanging on in the rankings right now at #22. That's crazy. While I think some teams in the SEC tend to be overrated often, Bama and LSU are both legit this year and the conference overall is still good. There is a difference between being good and having some teams being overrated IMO.
  14. Yep, especially Florida. The score was much closer than the game appeared.
  15. Definitely seems to be more parity at the top of college football so far this season. That's a good thing and is needed right now IMHO.
  16. Man, that is awesome! Bucket list stuff right there, congrats!
  17. Pretty cool, I wasn't aware of all the numbers: http://theozone.net/2019/10/why-ohio-state-is-clearly-the-best-team-in-the-nation-so-far/?fbclid=IwAR1rR9T6Nd76cgB7LTMH-pt1zC_aZ_C8MMESViMlaJ0bCWKWRV3UwA0K10Q

  19. Great all around half by the Buckeyes. Coaching, scheme, and execution are SPOT ON. If they finish out this game half as strong, this team deserves to be bumped up to #2 in the rankings from what I've seen. I'm cool with Bama at 1. Clemson doesn't look as good right now.
  20. Wow. From a recent auction listing: Introduced in 1990, the 560SEC AMG was perhaps the most fabled of the “pre-merger” upgraded Mercedes-Benz automobiles. The car was powered with a 6.0-liter engine, producing twice the torque of the original 5.6-liter Mercedes-Benz engine. Experts believe that only 50 or so of these pre-merger 560s exist — and one is on offer here. On file is paperwork from Japan proving its low mileage, and a full service in the U.K. in 2016. This car, Lot 122, sold for $338,972, including buyer’s premium, on February 6, 2019, in Paris, FRA, as part of RM Sotheby’s Youngtimer Collection
