  1. Crazy... Last time I was around dunlops were over $400 and pirellis were $330
  2. Personally for track days/practices I used to run a rear down to the core lol. They grip and work great clear down til there's nothing left. I would only change fronts out of prevention of a low side than any actual noticed loss of grip
  3. Exactly. Quick jaunt up the road and drop the stuff off. Or just pick up a ready built super bike sitting in the showroom
  4. If you haven't heard of him, do a google search for Vesrah Racing... He owns/owned that prolific winning endurance team for years, building all the bikes. His new shop in Ashland was featured in Roadracing World last year I believe, former NASCAR team shop. He moved the operation from Wisconsin last year so I'm assuming not as many people around here who haven't raced WERA/Nationally know who he is. He's at mid-ohio for every trackday now providing trackside services and the Pirelli tire services.
  5. feel and price last I rode Pirellis. I've tried both, but the pirelli's have a softer "feel" to them that I personally really like. They are known for great feedback and now especially for their longer tire life. I rode on some GP-A dunlops this weekend and they just felt vague/hard. Not very confidence inspiring with the front end at all.

  7. that's why I stick with the well known more local people that will, A: get your stuff done quickly, and B: be around for support at the track. Mark Junge with MCJ Motorsports will be doing my suspension. Nothing like one of the best all around guys who will stop what he's doing and pull your fork apart because "it doens't feel right", find the problem, put it all back together and not ask for a dime. Mark is located in Ashland, provides at the track service, and has more knowledge, experience, and equipment than pretty much anyone.
  8. Was a GREAT weekend of riding for sure! The mornings were definitely a bit on the chilly side, but the sunshine and afternoon temps were well worth it. It was awesome to be not only back on the bike and in the paddock again, but to be able to work with other riders once again and see the smiles on everyones' faces when things start to "click". Personally it was a little rough on the first day trying to knock off 5.5 years of rust... lol. Found out Friday afternoon that the one fork was busted, the springs were all wrong, and the preload/clicker settings were junk. I made plans to get these fixed in the coming weeks and rode on saturday as well. Saturday was a much better time and I actually started to feel as comfortable as I could with a bike that brought about zero confidence anywhere haha. Looking forward to having the bike setup properly with the help of Mark Junge (MCJ Motorsports) and spooning on some real rubber with a set of Michelins coming from Dave Grey at Sportbiketireservice.com. It's definitely a process trying to come back after so long, but it feels so good! Hope to see everyone out there this year!
  9. it's not like ice at all. "green" and loose, yes, but Ice I would reserve for when it RAINS lol. when it's cold the bike just likes to move around a bit. best bet is just knock the pace down and work on being SMOOTH with your transitions/braking/throttle. BTW I am SUPER jazzed to be out there tomorrow! Going to pick up new warmers and finish prepping the bike tonight. I will have the black 07 GSXR with red tank. Not sure which leathers/helmet/boots i'll be wearing though... haha

    what session are you running? I'm not sure which ones i'll be instructing.(it's been 5.5 yrs) but i'll be there both days as well. Black 07 GSXR w/red tank.
  15. def is not fun riding at speed in the cold and especially the wet!! we raced at beaver (PIRC) back in the day amidst rain/snow mix and high 30's... Les Miserables

    btw, with that gearing it would kiss redline leaned over on the small side of the tire in the kink and then return to 500 under. don't wanna find the limiter in 6th in the kink... seriously. lol

    a 600 will reach terminal velocity on the back stretch at mid-ohio. My gsxr's i ran -1 +2 on the stock motor and it would hold 500 under redline from the kink on. i dropped 2 teeth with the built motor and had the same result. (20hp difference). gearing at mid-o is more for the technical sections as there can be quite a bit of short shifting between sections. I still have to figure it out better for race pace.

    Sumo doesn't mean streeting... A motard... Yea, but supermoto generally means track. And it would def be a great candidate for that...
