i can accept that. maybe the radio will only be a one way thing from race control to the riders to inform them that the caution is coming out. either way, they need a way to tell the riders that the caution is coming out RIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENS and to start slowing up and prepare to be picked up by the car. maybe yellow lights every 50 feet on the track or something?

(Prior code § 13-5) the first question is, is your porch considered public or private property? secondly, you think the cops arrest everyone on the street they hear say fuck for some antiquated notion of "disorderly conduct"? i doubt it. that definition is so broad they could probably arrest ANYONE for disorderly conduct at one time or another. its one of those things the cops keep in their pocket to use as a punitive measure against someone who pisses them off.

when they call your info in, and the dispatcher responds back with a description you better hope you match it. if im 6'4 and 300 pounds and black, and the description of the name i gave comes back 5'5" 130 and white. theres gonna be trouble. also, the vast majority of break ins are crimes of opportunity, not stuff thats planned out in advance, so id say you are grasping at straws here.

true, but i would definitely hope that my neighbors actually know what i look like. if i saw my neighbor trying to break into his own house, i wouldnt call the cops, as there is no reason to. its important to actually know who your neighbors are and talk to them once in a while.

first of all, in ohio the only time you are required to show a cop your license is when you are operating a motor vehicle. other than that, if you are walking down the street, in your house, or otherwise NOT operating a motor vehicle, all you are legally required to do is tell the officer your name, address and birthdate. thats all that the law requires. im not 100% but i dont think MA has a stop and identify law. this guy was arrested AFTER they already knew he was the resident of the house, and thats the problem. once the cop realizes you are the lawful occupant, he should GTFO. it doesnt matter if the resident mouths off to you. its not illegal to mouth off to a cop. at that point the cops should have just taken the high road and been more professional, and just left and not let his words antagonize them, gone back to their car and said "man that guy sure was an asshole" and left it at that. that being said, i dont think this specific event had anything to do with race. i think the cop was just pissy that this dude was mouthing off to him. too bad. build a bridge and get over it. not to say that racial profiling doesnt occur, because it does. but just not in this case. all in all it was not a good showing for gates nor the cops.

dont get me wrong, there is definitely a lot of sensationalism and showmanship in nascar, but they do care about racing too.. back in the day there were only a handful of guys who honestly had a shot at winning... yarborough, petty, parsons, allison, baker etc. nowadays maybe 60% of the field has a chance to win any given race. they want the teams to be competitive. thats why all the cars are pretty much identical. they want it to be about the driver racing other drivers, not drivers racing the track. personally, in AMA i dont hate the idea of the pace car. im not opposed to bunching the field back up so people can race each other. but i think in PRACTICE they are doing a shitty job. it seems like no one is really sure how anything is supposed to work. they need to get a system down and stick with it. also IMO the riders need radios so race control/pits can communicate with them and tell them when a caution is out, so they know that the pace car is coming out, instead of almost running into it.

plus, i would say that bristol is a lot different too... thats a track where the entire field takes up damn near half the track on a restart, and the leaders start lapping the tail end of the field after like 20 laps... also, doing it 100 laps into a 500 lap race is one thing. doing it in the waning laps is another altogether. all in all, i think page should have just rolled off the throttle a bit, held his line and let them go by. but at the same time, luddington didnt need to be a dick about it though. mike helton wouldnt go down to your garage and rip you a new asshole. he would call you into the trailer and rip you a new asshole there, in private.

yes, the faster car has to adjust his LINE, but the slower car needs to adjust their PACE to let the leaders pass. they want you to keep the same line so someone doesnt run into you trying to pass. he wasnt racing for any position there. he was between first and second. if there was another lap down rider that he was jostling for 15th or whatever with, then thats one thing... but its different in that situation with just the 3 of them. besides that, if that stuff went on for more than a couple laps at bristol, the lap down car would get punted into the wall.

true, but IMO there is a difference between hold your line and making them WORK to pass you, and holding your line and letting the faster riders pass (which is what the rulebook says).

if you're lap traffic and the leader are coming up behind you, why WOULDNT you just let them pass? what do you gain by trying to race them? other than not going another lap down i guess...

Its not really messing with the card company at all. They never even see your signature. That slip stays with the merchant for their records. We have boxes upon boxes of them at work. They are our copy not the cc company's. The only time they would see the slip is if you filed a dispute or something.
