  1. you can still speed... just slow down for the 2 miles when you start to see hash marks on the side of the road.

and yes, they love to get tailgaters this way, because its something that they really cant stop people for very often because its so hard to spot.

  2. anyone going? im going to try to go up on saturday since i have to work on sunday. my buddy is riding up from florida on his triumph ST1200 that weekend too, so we will probably roll up there together.

if anyone from here is going, maybe we can get a little group ride together or something?

  3. News said it was an 18yr old.. A senior at westerville high.

    hmm :?

edit: So he WAS wearing a helmet. Not tooooo many twisties rite in that section of the road (watching short internet vid clip). To have been killed he either 1.) was racing? 2.) was stunting something crazy and lost it?

Damnit I wish they would hurry up with the story and tell us more

it said an accident between a motorcycle and car... maybe some dickbag didnt look and pulled out in front of him ?

  4. met up with gregg at taco bell, got rained on, rode up to delaware, came back and met up with skip and his buddy at taco bell, i hung out for a few, then left them there and i came home... i gotta work tonight anyway :-\ my bike was acting kind of funny too... twice i turned it off and it wouldnt start again... eventually got it going both times though, although the second time, i didnt think it was going to go... i think i got a short in the system somewhere... gotta break out the old multimeter.

i had to leave it running while we talked to skip and his buddy at taco bell, i didnt wanna have to push it home lol.

weird thing is, once i got home, i turned it off, then tried to start it and it fired right up... weird... i think the clutch switch is going bad. but i digress.

i had fun (other than getting rained on) and it was cool to meet up with you guys. maybe next time i wont have to work and can stay out later :)

oh yeah, skip, i tried to send you an email back from my phone like 5 minutes after you sent me yours...

my apologies if you didnt get it... sometimes my phone is kind of wonky.

  5. i know you guys do bike night tonight, but i should be free this afternoon around 2 until about 8 when i gotta go to work...

if anyone wants to go for a little ride around town or something, let me know.

i live in german village, but i wouldnt be adverse to meeting anywhere really...

post here, ill be checking it throughout the day, or you can email me at jrogers2@tmail.com.

  6. the paint was shite on my bike. the tank was blue with a pink stripe (lol), the side covers were white, the rear end was spraybombed black, the front fairing and front fender are a dark british racing green :? my buddy would have called it a "crayola" bike lol.

anyway, i used this duplicolor truck bedliner spray... like 6 bux at wally world... turned out pretty good, and its pretty resistant to scratches and stuff like that. i gave it a few extra coats in the areas where it gets scratched most: where my keys dangle onto the tank, and at the back where my zipper, belt buckle, etc hit it.

im trying to emulate the ZX6R chin pit with that dent on there ;)

i took off the upper cowling, fairing stay, headlight and gauges. all of that weighs about 20 pounds, with 15 of it being the gauges/stay/headlight assembly. front end is way lighter now. i like it :) although no more wind protection, but i live in german village, so most of my riding is in downtown and campus areas, so i dont really care.

then i installed a headlight off of a buell. the cheapest dual headlights i could find online were like 150. and they had to be shipped from germany  i got this whole assembly from buell for like 70 bucks.

    68k64xh.jpg

i mounted it with these brackets i got at iron pony. they were 10 dollars in the harley section. i sprayed them with the bedliner too, although it doesnt seem to adhere well to chrome. its kind of peeling off in one spot. i may take em off and scuff them a bit then hit em again...

    4mbpjll.jpg

the buell lights have screw holes on the bottom (actually its the top. i mounted it upside down :) )

i had some nuts and bolts lying around and found some that would fit... albeit they are a bit long. maybe ill splurge and go to lowes and spend 97 cents for some shorter ones :)

    4padtle.jpg

i need to get some turn signals, and ill probably mount those in the front holes, and then try to tuck the wires away.

since my mirrors were gone, i got this CRG mirror. very high quality part. the mirror is very clear, and the box says it will stay put to 130 lol. i dont really plan on testing that out, but ive ridden around a bit with it, and it hasnt moved at all. it doesnt even vibrate.

    4y7anid.jpg

i got this gauge to put on still. im trying to find a stock wiring harness for the gauges, so i dont have to cut my harness and i can just plug it in. this thing is pretty cool too... it tells you everything except the winning lottery numbers (gotta see what i can do about that). speed, rpm, time, odometer, trip odometer, neutral light, hi beam indicator, turn signals, oil light.

the only thing it DOESNT have it a temp gauge... i may just go get a small autometer one and mount that...

    4mme9f6.jpg

it was too black when i looked at it... so i put a sticker on the coolant tank that i got at deal's gap :)

    6beeasi.jpg

also put this ohio sticker on the back end. cuz you know... i gotta rep the o-h yo! ;)

    61xk68k.jpg

im gonna get some new bars still, cant decide if i want to get motox bars, or clip ons. i still gotta do something about the green fender, and get some turn signals for the front and mount that gauge. also im gonna figure something out about that rear fender... other than that though, im happy, and the bike runs like a top. i went -2 on the front and its got a TON of low end grunt... probably tops out at about 100 now but w/e thats still fast enough to send me to the pokey.

    thats it!

  7. according to the court website, the charges were dismissed?

    whats up with that?

i would rather have the cruisers stay back and let the heli do the work from a disatance, that would seem to be a win situation for the law, right? and a NO LOSS of life for all!!!!

thats what they did according to the dispatch. i thought i heard something a few years back about them not being able to chase in franklin county over 100mph... nothing to say they cant call in the chopper though :)

    http://columbusdispatch.com/dispatch/co ... 6O11C.html

The second motorcyclist continued on, traveling west through the county. Police cruisers backed off as the man drove at speeds topping 100 mph.

A Columbus police helicopter tracked the cyclist. At some point, he traveled onto Georgesville Road and into a neighborhood southeast of Hall and Galloway roads.

Deputies with the Franklin County sheriff's office began following the motorcyclist as he zig-zagged west onto Crossbrook Boulevard. He then reversed and went eastbound by going through lawns and over curbs.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., the man crashed into a deputy's cruiser on Crossbrook, just east of Parkglen Road. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike. He was taken to Mount Carmel West, where police described his condition as critical but stable. The deputy wasn't injured.

Police didn't release the name of either motorcyclist. The condition of the one who crashed on Rt. 315 wasn't known last night.

  8. or you could get this one:

    Vanity License Plate Brings Tickets

WILMINGTON, Del. ~ A vanity license tag chosen as a gag has left its owner holding the bag. Jim Cara thought the "NOTAG" plate he got for his Suzuki motorcycle would give people a laugh.

Instead, he found that the laugh  along with more than 200 parking violations  was on him.

The new tag arrived in the mail Saturday, along with an avalanche of Wilmington parking violations.

"All the traffic tickets say, 'Notice of violation. License number: no tag,'" Cara explained.

Officials said city computers linked to state Division of Motor Vehicles computers finally found an address for ticketed vehicles that lacked license tags: Cara's home in Elsmere.

"I messed up the system so bad," Cara said. "I wonder if they can put me in jail or something?"

Cara, 43, who works for the American Motorcycle Association, said he's been a lifelong prankster. This time, though, "the cleanup is going to be worse than the joke," he said.

John Rago, spokesman for Wilmington Mayor James Baker, said an incorrect computer code used by the contractor that processes the city's parking violations helped land the tickets in Cara's mail. City officials plan to have it corrected, he said.

Fortunately for Cara, Wilmington appeared to be the only jurisdiction with the no-tag computer glitch, said Kelly Pitts, spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation.

Pitts said Cara's best insurance against future problems would be to change the "NOTAG" plate.

No way, said Cara. "I think it's awesome".

  9. going from 670 to 270 north, right before the merge, the left lane has some nasty potholes in it... stay right, but be careful not to get creamed by merging traffic from 62,

also, 270 southbound between easton and 670, the right and second to right lanes. (the ones that exit to 670). i think the one furthest right is pretty good, but the second to right one... watch out. some MASSIVE holes here.
