  1. You are certainly right. Once your good judgement is gone, bad things happen. And bikes and pavement are too unforgiving to mess with that.
  2. Did you feel your bike was lacking in the midrange? Because that's the main difference I notice between the 1000 and 750. I wouldn't get the 600, at least get a 750. My 1000 feels a lot like my 750 did, more power but more weight too. They both seemed to do the same wheelies, I'd give a slight nod to my 750 overall just because you felt like you were really riding it, versus it riding you at times. It flew as well, I used to tell everyone who ridiculed it because it wasn't a 1000 to put it in 3rd gear, open it up wide open and see how long you can do that before the corner came up and scared the living shit out of you. That would shut up anyone who never rode a good 750, because believe me, you would see God pretty quick. And like Kevin Schwantz says, "open it up until you see God, then brake." And if you do that on a properly geared 750 Gixxer (I liked 1 down front, up 2 rear for the street the best because I'm heavier than just about everyone on this forum and it woke it up) you won't feel you're lacking anything. Cycle World and just about every motorcycle mag, from Roadracing World to Sport Rider, and Schwantz, all have said they liked the 750 best of the three. So I guess the debate will continue. But what was said, that the 1000s are somewhat easier to ride because of the extra torque is also true. So I guess whoever said go with what you think is the most beautiful also has a lot of merit. Because it's true. Since so many of us have bikes, you could just wait and ride several to see what you liked the best. You can't go wrong with any of them, if that's any consolation. It's the best time ever to have a sportbike, hands down. So you're a lucky man, D.
  3. Keep in mind they were BOTh probably in the same condition, partying together. Who knows what caused the wreck, could have been a deer hitting them especially in October in the country. If that was the case it's a different ballgame, nothing would have happened if that did not. I'm not making excuses for the man, it's a shame, but I'll bet she had the same in her system too. And with the fact that drugs stay in your system for a while (coke 3 days, weed usually 45) he might not have even been high but probably was, unless he had been out and just scored... but drunk is drunk, and anything over .08 is drunk. Better off sober for sure. If he had a CDL, .04 is considered drunk and that's not very much. Still a shame. Bet he won't be able to afford a Harley when he gets out, after losing everything he has. If she was his girlfriend, he lost her too. Hope he turns his life around. I'll probably make some enemies with this reply but there are always two sides to everything and sometimes things look worse than they really are. You can't dispute the fact that she's dead, though, and he (they both) should have known better. The fact the prosecutor wanted the lesser sentence usually means there is more to the story, ESPECIALLY in Lick-me County. But he was already on probation, so it wasn't his first rodeo...dumb, dumb move. He should have known better than to do that and put them in that position.
  4. Let me lead that guy on the VFR and he'll really be whining. The CORE group got upset with me as well for going consistently too fast all day, but that's what sportbikes are for. I haven't ridden with them since, but certainly harbor no ill will. They got mad because I smoked you-know-what and they thought I would be dangerous, but me and one other guy got through a particular corner on 555 that all the rest of them ran off on, and one crashed, so who's dangerous now? My Gixxer had only dead bugs on it at the end of the day, not mud like the rest of them! I am careful, as anyone who's ever ridden with me knows. One can go relatively fast, and Rocky knows what I'm talking about, while still being conservative. We do it all day long. Sounds like that group just has a different agenda, that's all, and they're welcome to and supposed to ride at whatever pace they wish. I just wish I had been on that ride cause they would've probably bailed partially into the trip, since they couldn't keep up, or a some of us would have gotten tired of waiting for them continually and eventually disappeared. It has happened many times before, so now I'm selective on whom I call to go riding, for their conveinence as well as ours. Stevan and many others of you know whom I'm talking about, you're welcome anytime. I'm not the fastest on here by any means but I like to ride pretty hard all day long since it's how I grew up and some get tired of it after a while simply because they're not used to it, that's all. I hope I don't sound like an elitist prick. I'm really not. Anyone who's been on a ride with me knows we always wait for everyone, and truthfully I spend just as much time looking in my mirrors as ahead continually just to ensure everyone is together and no one gets lost since I lead people so far away from home. So bashers, I guess that's why we ride at different paces, because there are different paces. Call us what you will, but please YELL LOUD because I won't be able to hear you very long from so far behind us! And never ride too far over your head and wreck, because it certainly can and will change your life dramatically in a heartbeat. And that's not good.
  5. Thanks, B. Call me when you want to meet. I figure you're down south today, I'll be in Cols dntwn until about 5 but we can meet whenever. Have a good one!
  6. Lizard, If that "Johnny" was me on the yellow Avenger jacket, that's not the one I want, it's the white and black women's nylon jacket with the grey Shift "S" on the sleeves, the $40 one. Consider it sold and we'll hook up again, but let's try to make it a day you're driving through so you don't have to make a special trip down. I left you a PM, my cell is 614-402-0411 again so holla at me please. Thanks!
  7. I'll take the Airborne Women's Jacket, the white one, ($40) if it is a mesh jacket for warm weather. If it's just a nylon jacket, not mesh, please let me know. I probably want it anyway, but would prefer a mesh one.
  8. I'm not up to speed on cars lately. I assume the Audi would be more luxurious, and the WRX would be more like a sportbike, maybe, more visceral, less refined maybe, weigh less? I know they do great in poor conditions properly set up, judging from their rally car success. I think they'd be fun in the snow, have front fenders in the garage for spares! Any one ever see the old footage of Hans Stuck doing wheelies in the Audi Quattro IMSA race car before they banned them from competition? No one could touch them. He did consistent wheelies every lap at about 100 MPH over a rise in the movie I saw, I believe it was at Watkins Glen. What a blast that would be! Speed sometimes shows that movie during the winter months on their "Drive-in Theatre " show.

Putty your avatars keep getting better and better... Quite the fashion shot on this last one. Good job!
  10. Lizard1, I left you a PM. Send me your Paypal info, or if you're in Columbus we'll just hook up. I can get them tomorrow (Wednesday) or Paypal the info later tonight, I'll be in Cleveland all day and not have access to email until about 8:00 tonight. Consider them sold. Thanks!
  11. I'll probably step up and buy both for $300 if they're BOTH still available. I don't want just the jacket, I want the gloves, too.
  12. It was good seeing you guys there. Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you guys! Everybody was yakking away. It was a good time. Does anyone know the final amount raised?
  13. I suppose those nasty-ass chicks from 2 girls 1 cup could not wait for a couple of days. But wait...it musta been what they were on when they made that video. How else would they be so stupid, and with a related substance! And their breath was all ready for it as well.
  14. Lookin forward to it Jeff, told Tim Richards about it, he should be there too. Thanks again for the rock! It's cool, never saw any like it. It's in front of the house.
  15. Where do you find those bike cartoons? And yep, perhaps we'll get lucky and get to ride again. My Tues and Weds rides were awesome! Coshocton & Knox counties, never saw even one 5-0 again.
  16. How do I delete this thread? It was duplicated.
  17. I'm considering it. It's been ages. Do they still have a helmet law?
  18. I've seen videos of him riding Stoner's bike just to check it out but that was supposedly it. Like Hopkins has done as well, the MotoGP bike/F1 ride trade opportunity. They're both German, but that rumor sounds kinda far-fetched to me. Where did you see it?
  19. All righty, then. So back to the original item up for discussion. If a '00 750 windscreen and lever will work, I've got a brand new clear Zero Gravity Double-bubble in the bag (perfect except for a spot the size of a dime of slight scuffing on it that can be polished out, put there by an old dipshit roomate years ago) you can have for free. I have a set of new handlebar levers you can have as well. I hope they help. Sorry about your collarbone. Did one of mine couple of years ago along with 7 ribs, all on the right side. Take calcium tablets while it's mending to get it to calcify better. Try to adjust your shoulder so it lies as flat as possible while it's mending, if it wasn't plated, so it'll heal straighter. That will make a huge difference to how it'll look later, if that means anything.

That was cool. Does anyone know how I can download that Denis Leary song?
  21. Boy, this forum is a trip sometimes. I hope I didn't offend anyone with my post on HP numbers, a bike having 3 or 4 more HP doesn't IMO make it a better bike unless it's the difference in a HP shootout and it is the winning difference. IMO, my GSX-R 750 was just as good if not better than my CBR1000RR. They remind me a lot of each other when riding, probably because the CBR is a lower-HP liter bike and I got lucky with my Gixxer because it put out about 5 more HP stock than other Gixxer 750s of the same year. I got a good one. The CBR puts out about 25 more HP but it weighs more as well, about 30 lb more. 132 vs 157. I'd say yea, I'm guilty too of putting my money in the wrong place, the full system, Pwr Cmdr, etc., but my bike (the CBR) was anemic to begin with and now it's more to my liking. To be honest, though, I don't think the increase in noise was worth it. It's too easily heard by the cops and it is frankly annoying to me even by myself out in the country alone at times. Next bike I'm gonna make sure it already has enough power (probably a Gixxer 1000) and put my money in gearing, 1 down 2 up immediately, and into the suspension. That should work. Twincharge, you underestimate yourself. You're a fine rider and this is your first bike; you're ahead of the game, trust me. And what a bike to begin with, an LE R1. How many people have pictures of that bike on their walls all over the world? Ohlins, slipper clutch...sweet. Any one leading the pack gets tired of it after a while and gets passed. That is reality at least from my perspective, and I've done thousands and thousands of miles in group riding. Rocky, Putty and Twincharge7, I've ridden with all ya'll (as they say down South) and you all are very good riders. Just because someone rides in front of you at times doesn't mean they're a better rider, and they may just take more chances than you do. I mean, I go over one hill too many and can't stop when a car is backing out of a driveway I'll be HIS_TO_RY faster than I can type this sentence, whatever my skill level is. And that would be my fault and no on else. Truth is, we all are lucky to ride what we have and street or track, good on ya for doing so. Now, if only I could afford a helicopter...)
