  1. Retightened and pounded the terminal cables down into some untouched metal and she fired right up. Not sure if it was just a bad connection or what but that was the only thing we really did.
  2. The battery was new over the winter, was holding 12.45 volts before we turned the key. Down to 11.92 volts when we turn the key. No corrosion and terminals have a good tight connection. Relays look tight and fuses look good.
  3. My in-laws 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee (3.7L V6, 4wd) won't start and they're looking for a reputable shop around Mt Vernon/Apple Valley Lake. Long version: They started to leave the house, turned around when they forgot something, turned off the ignition and took the key out. Said it sounded like the key was still in the ignition and was making dings and noises. They came back out, used a different key to attempt to start and nothing happened. No fuel pump or servo noise, nothing. They waited a few minutes and tried to start again and just heard what sounded like the starter click once with the associated electrical noises from a normal start. Since then that's all they can get. Starter never fully engages and the engine never turns over. Sounds like a bad starter to me. My father-in-law (the jeep owner) is a retired electrical engineer so he's trying to diagnose anything electrical. Any suggestion on a local shop or other diagnosis would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. My opinion: I've always heard great things about Japan, it's just a little to close too nK for me. I understand your concern, but I would say keep that assignment. Chance of a lifetime! Check with your leadership about taking the dogs, someone in TMO should be able to answer your questions. As for taking your car, I'm with what someone said above...sell/store your car in the states and get something over there. I've heard of a few people getting the approved to return and drive in the states after their assignment, then selling them for profit. Your wife should be able to find something on base, not always high paying, but it will be an income.
  5. Do you have experience using one? I heard from someone else the one they setup doesn't work very well. Any model recommendation? Oh and WOW doesn't service my neighborhood either. Looks like it's TWC or I stick it out with ATT.
  6. Found it. https://q.myaccount.centurylink.com/MasterWebPortal/freeRange/MobileInternet_goToLanding
  7. Of course right after I found out they didn't service my area I deleted the info you're asking about. Now I can't find it. I think I googled Quest Internet service. Sorry.
  8. Thanks, I must have had a brain fart. Century Link's customer service rep could bearly speak English and after 20 mins of searching, told me they do not service my neighborhood. I've been an Insight customer in the past and left them for AT&T a few yrs ago, so I doubt I'll go back to Insight/TWC. WOW sounds good, I called and they have to check to see if they can service my house. $30/month + $10/month for modem/router + $50 install fee. Any suggestions/insight on purchasing my own modem and router? I would like it powerful enough to reach my bedroom...our phones/tablets work fine, but our wifi tv does not.
  9. WOW, thanks. What do you mean by 15/2 connection?
  10. BLUF (bottom line up front): Which ISP should I switch to for streaming Hulu+/Netflix using a max of 2 (rarely 3) devices? Which speed? Anyone have a good CR contact for an ISP? Long version: We finally cut the cord and are a "no cable TV" house but I'm still not happy with the price of my ISP. Our intent is to cut our costs where we can. We had AT&T U-Verse for TV/Phone/Internet and they jacked the price up to $194 so we canceled the TV and Phone. Now we're using Hulu+, Netflix and Magic Jack (phone via internet connection). We're happy with what we have, but I have a few questions on lowering our monthly price. We're currently paying roughly $60/month for service + $7/month for the modem/router (+ tax/fees) for Max+ internet (18 Mbps, checked via Speedtest yesterday was only 13.37 Mbps while wife was using Hulu+). If I were a new customer I could get Basic TV(local stations only), HBO and Max+ internet for $39/month. They say you have to not be a customer for 30 days. I am currently NOT in a contract. Other options I'm looking into: Century Link 20 Mbps $24.95/month WOW 15 Mbps/month $30/month TWC/Insight 20 Mbps $44.99/month I'm leaning toward Century Link due to the price and speed, but don't know a lot of people who use them. I'm also interested in buying my own modem/router...our current bedroom WiFi TV does not have a good connection to the WiFi. I need some advice on a good modem/router and WiFi repeater or DIY WiFi booster...any info would be appreciated.
  11. Can you still test out of any of your basic classes by CLEP or DANTES since you're out of the military? That would be #1 on my list. Then knock out the first or second yr at a cheap school but make sure those classes will transfer easily if you decide to transfer to another school. Congrats on staying out of college debt!
  12. +1. I've always been a Cheby guy, but in all honesty, I like the new 5.0 better than the new Camaro.
  13. If it was an interstate ramp, it will prob be ODOT you will deal with (if you choose). A friend got some money for a tire a few years ago. He had to let them know where the pothole was and if it wasn't fixed within a few days he got reimbursed for "some" of the tire replacement. May be worth it, or may just be a pain.

    Tire Shine

Good on you for getting that crap off your tires before you hit the road. I wouldn't use a degreaser incase it would hurt the wheel finish, but think a soapy solution would be fine. Dish soap or car wash soap should work.
  15. +1 for a Tahoe. You can find an under 100k 2005 Tahoe 4wd for $9-15k. That's my vote, plenty big for family & boat at the same time. Just look for the 3rd row option as the older ones did not come standard with it.
  16. I just talked to my friend and it weighs maybe 100-175 lbs with the batteries. I know it can easily carry a 200-250# man. I think it's rated to hold a 300# person. Come see it and test it out. He might try to sell you his 67 Chevelle too.
  17. There is a very small shopette at DSCC and a normal sized shopette at Rickenbacker. Both sell booze and other convience store items. I do stop there for booze occasionally (tax free) but that's about it. No real BX/PX around Columbus.
  18. NEVER been raced! It does have wheelie bars...on the front so it doesn't dump the rider. Great condition and a great price! I hear these things can go for a few thousand $ new!

  21. What do you plan to do with them? I have a few (ohio) and have always wanted to do something with them, but I'm not very creative.
  22. Updated the sold items. I still have 3 pair of gloves, 2 helmets, and a tank bag.
