Let's start getting a head count together. We'll need 20 confirmed guys to lock in a day to just ourselves. I know they are working on a fall schedule, so I'd like to have an idea if we can pull this off or not.

Can I? Absolutely. Will I? That remains to be seen. For someone that used to call me and spend hours asking gun advice, you tend to be pretty douchey on the board when firearms stuff comes up when I chime in.

I think I can make this. Would bring the AR. Sounds fun. Never been into ld shooting. Be cool if someone could go over how to make scope adjustments for long range adjustmens. I get the 100 yard click thing but don't really understand how to use the marks on the crosshairs et cetera.
That's not a problem. We can go over MIL/MOA adjustments, how to use your reticle for hold overs/spotting, etc...

Funny you should say that. One of the regulars/RO's lives somewhat nearby and rides his dual sport over with a rifle case on his back fairly regularly.

It wouldn't take a $2k AR, thats just what I have and he foolishly said any AR out there. The only envy here seems to be what other peoples toy's cost...
FYI, my first AR (also built it) was a $500 parts kit and shot 3/4 MOA with shitty russian plinker ammo. I've yet to see a sub MOA AK personally, and any that I've ever heard of were right around 3/4 MOA and were high dollar as they came from a custom shop.

Dont have much for distance just my mini and a 17 hmr so looking to play under 300 yards.
We don't necessarily have to shoot stuff at distance, but I'm sure we can get that mini past 300.
Like sniper_308 offered, anyone is welcome to try my stuff out. Right now both my LR guns (AR and bolt) are shooting factory ammo, so if someone wants to try some 1000+ yard shots, bring some Blackhills 175gr 308 (non moly coated) ammo. I'm pretty sure sniper308 is using the same stuff.
I'll also try to work up a subsonic load for my 308 by then.
Also, I may be wrong, but I believe TVP has some rental .308's if anyone is interested. I'm not sure of the price, I'll check with Tom. If you want to try out a suppressor, those are for rent for sure (obviously you'll need a threaded barrel).
Bring shooting mats if you have them. If we do mostly shooting/plinking from the bench, we can still shoot 2 positions of the short course and 1 from the Intimidator safely so those mats will come in handy.
Earlier this year, TVP got hit with a tornado that damaged the shelter over the benches, so EZ Ups are probably a good call. I'll bring one. Someone suggested bringing a grill, thats a good idea. I'm sure we could use the fire pit after if we wanted to sit around and have a few beers after the guns are put away.

What would you recommend on ammo amounts? So everyone has enough to bring to have a good time.
More is always better. I've never heard anyone say they should've brought less ammo

I've used the 3m and suction mounts. They all work great. You are more than welcome to borrow mine to see if you like the setup.

Oh yea, location. Most of you folks that have ridden in the Coshocton area have passed this place probably a dozen times. It is just outside of Plainfield on TR118, which is about 1/4 mile from where 541 and 93 split.

TVP is run by Tom Sarver, who has 20+ years of precision/tactical shooting experience and 2 1000 yard world records(5 shot group at 1000yards, 1.397 inches)
The main range has benches with target berms at 600 and 1000 yards. There is a side lane to shoot paper at 100 for zero. Steel targets at 200, 300,400,500,600,700,1000,1100,1200yards and at 1 mile. There are 3 tactical long range courses on the property: Intimidator -- 4 firing positions with 4 targets each, targets range from 270 to 1165 yards + a bonus at 1640, Short Course -- 3 firing positions with 4 targets at ranges from 170 to 550y, and TVP's newest course The HeadHunter which consists of essentially a mini sniper mission, 20 headshot targets with only 1 shot per target.
We can mess around shooting targets at the benches, shoot a few positions of each tactical course, whatever floats our boat. I'm sure we could setup an impromptu pistol steel course as well.

Just an fyi. We are trying to gauge interest. If we have enough, I'll talk to Tom at TVP to see about locking that weekend date in since he has nothing currently on the official schedule. I don't want to have him block off a day for us and turn other customers away and have a tiny turn out. If we only have a little interest, we can probably get a Friday for ourselves assuming he's not doing private or LE training.
Full auto/ nfa stuff is fine. Only real restriction is .338 and under on steel. Obviously this range is geared towards rifle stuff (with 3 challenging tactical LR courses), but yes we can work out pistol/ shotgun stuff too.

Brian is right, thats hardly a reliable set of circumstances for both shooters, nevermind a bit easy.
I'm fine with groundhog paper targets at 300, say 5 shots for score, and to make it interesting, same target at 600 yards, 5 shots for score. $1000 bet.

Just curious as to why you need/want a laser sight for home defense?
Lasers are for no/low light shooting.

Those are only legal for use in a NFA registered full auto weapon. It may fly with a registered destructive device or SBR, that all depends on the court ruling from the Toledo case that was mentioned.
Just because you see them for sale in a gun shop or at a gun show, does not mean they are legal to use. You can own one all day long, but the second you slap that mag into a rifle it is illegal.

Leave all the stuff at defaults except the following.
Use the 77gr smk (litz) from the drop down, ignore the caliber/weight crap
2750 muzzle velocity. Sight height 2.65
use 0 as min range, 1000 as max, 50 yard increments. 100y zero distance. use roughly 1000ft altitude and input the weather conditions for the day (temp, humidity, pressure)
The last 2 values (column 1 units and column 2) set the first to inches (this is your drop/drift) and set the second to MOA (this is your correction for that drop/drift)
Then save off that chart and do it all again with the 75gr bullet.

Your reticle kind of blows for ranging. I'd highly recommend getting an FFP reticle with different substensions. For ranging with a reticle, I'm kinda leaning towards an MOA based reticle with 1 MOA and 2 MOA hashes as its a finer measurement than the half MIL and MIL I currently have. When you are ranging something fairly small like that, a more accurate measurement of the object will result in a closer range estimate. That said, I'm probably going to buy one of the bushnell fusion's that dipshit has. Accurate out to a mile is good enough for me.
