That was on the berm. The down spayed is used to keep the truck planted to pull large amounts of wieght. There are only two trucks in Columbus area that have spayeds that large and we have both of them. Smaller spayeds don't keep the truck planted and allows the truck to slide which is very dangerous. ODOT was there and made the needed repairs to the berm and guard rail as soon as the wreck was cleared.
That truck has a 45,000 lb winch line and doesn't take up two lanes of traffic to get the proper angles needed to remove the wreck. We use it and another truck set up just like it in situations like this so we can keep traffic flowing.
I got woke up at 5:30 in the morning on my day off (friday) for this.....
