  1. Well Garrett you should know b/c of Kristen that OSU does pay more for having a BSN vs. an associates. I think it's like a dollar or so more an hour but it does add up. It may be different in the new ONA contract. I could be wrong tho???

Either way 2 years of college to earn an easy 50k not bad at all. My point was that it wasn't a drastic pay difference between the two. The two years that you would be working instead of being in school makes up makes up the extra $1 an hour.

  2. yeah yeah i know what you mean, i meant like someone with a "bsn" who is an RN usually makes quite a bit more than someone with an associates who is an RN. Anyhow, I see your point of view. I have a friend who's a dental hygienist, only went to school two years, and she makes like 26 bucks an hour... BUT she'll probably never make much more than that the rest of her life.

Most places don't give different pay for a RN with an associates and a RN with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. With the "nursing shortage" dieing down a bit, a RN with an associates degree might have a more difficult time finding a job but the pay shouldn't be much different.

  3. I have NEVER had a physician spend more than 6 minutes with me. I don't even get eye contact in that 6 minutes. 6 minutes of condescending-ass "I'm trying to talk slowly so you can try to understand," followed by a bill for $1,400.

I have always much preferred to deal with RNs, LPNs and MAs. They know just as much, communicate a million times better, and work just as hard if not harder. If anyone in the medical field deserves that $100,000 -a-year American dream, its them over physicians, any day.

Plenty of RN's earn that much, actually the top paid RN at OSUMC made $198,000 last year. Actually you only need an associates to be a nurse. I don't think many nurses would ever say they know anywhere near as much as a physician

  4. I think a lot of doctors, after evaluating their situation wish that they were nurses instead. The Education to Pay ratio is way the fuck out of wack, for the amount of time and money it takes to become a doctor they don't make enough.

I bet there are not any doctors making 25 mil a year like all of our excellent role model athletes and movie stars.

The top earner of 2007 was Oracle (nasdaq: ORCL - news - people ) chief Larry J. Ellison. Ellison drew just a $1 million salary, but realized $182 million from the exercise of vested stock options last year.

How the fuck can you "Earn" $183 million?

  5. I don't think it should be audible while rolling E. If it's up on the stand and you hear it drag, that would be within expectations, but not while the motor is on and riding.

I cleaned my calipers with brake cleaner and the pistons wouldn't retract for shit after. Spun the wheel on the stand and it wouldn't go more than 1 revolution. I swapped calipers and now it'll spin ~3 times before stopping.

Again, if you can hear it while riding, I'd say you have a bit of an issue.

In my previous post I said there is debate about brake cleaners as some are said to cause the pistons seals to swell and cause more drag. Do like dustin said and remove the calipers (one at a time) pump them a bit until you see clean piston and then give them a good cleaning. A toothbrush works pretty well but wont get all the way around the piston, so you can either rotate the piston or loop the jagged side of a zip tie around the piston and run it back and forth in a sawing motion.

There is nothing to retract the pistons when not in use (like pointed out in a previous post) so the slight wobble in the rotors push them back the slightest, unless the piston is dirty and wont retract.

Go for a ride and feel your rotors if one is noticeably hotter than the other then you can identify which caliper is causing the problem. If it is truly a problem it will get rather hot without even using the brakes

  6. "High performance pads" are high performance because they offer a greater level of friction over stock pads, so some additional rolling resistance is to be expected. However make sure that your caliper pistons move evenly and are very clean. (There is some debate about different brake cleaners and their potential effects on caliper piston seals.) If the pistons move evenly and retract smoothly then you are on the right path.

If there is any air in your lines, additional dragging can be experienced at faster paces. Reason being is the heat will transfer to calipers and fluid causing the air to expand and the pistons to move outward.

  7. hey guys, thanks for all the bday wishes. i know its a little late, but i was en route to kuwait for the entirety of my birthday. free flight on a 747, cant beat it. now im in iraq, which is much nicer than kuwait (the bases are) besides the whole explosions and gunfire stuff every night.

Just pretend that it is the forth of July and those explosions are just fireworks

  8. I like your fleet idea, thats interesting. As for Ford, I thought they didn't take any government money (If I'm not mistaken) and the surge in their sales was due to the negative stigma of their domestic competition (chrysler and GM) who took bailout money.

I am wondering what kind of information government officials are leaking out to their "buddies" there is a huge profit to be made when you know what kind of legislation is going to pass.

For example the "CARS" program ran out of money last week and Fords stock closed right around $8 on Friday. After the announcement Ford stock opened at about $8.75 on Monday that is a 9.375% gain. With some of that info you could have made a killing in the options market.

  9. Anybody on here in a band or have a friend who is?

A buddy of mine is starting a promotional company. He's looking for bands. If you're in one or are friends with someone who is, post up links to the music in this thread. I'm forwarding shit on to him.

And this isn't just some fly-by-night guy. He's the former guitarist for Spout and Lovers and Liars down in Nashville. He got divorced and won custody of his boy, so he moved back up here to Ohio so his parents could help him raise his boy. He's missing the music scene, and got a few financial backers to start this up.

Ross701 can play a mean skinflute, I hear he draws some serious crowds

  10. The insurance will get it off of my roof, but doesn't pay for the cutting up of it or the removal from my property. Fuckin' State Farm - gotta read the fine print.

Gonna take 1-2 guys most of a day to chop that sucka up and remove it.

My policy will pay for the removal of the entire tree if in the process of falling it hits or damages the property. So if the tree fell away from the house I would have to cover the removal and associated costs.

  11. Rather then take money from the wealth via taxes, just get some inflation going. The value of the assets of the "haves" will decrease and the value of the debt carried by the "have nots" will decrease proportionally.

Through the magic of economics everything that you have worked hard for is stolen from under your feet.

So my advice is to keep "leveraged" and get some of your assets invested in international equities and precious metals

  12. A while back I said rather than bail out the big three with "handouts" lets just replace police cruisers and aging city vehicles. American companies survive and aging fleets get replaced, win - win. I wonder if all of these car sales and the "cars" program have affected the stock price of ford?

It seems that the share price of Ford went up about 33% in the last 90 days, I wonder if somebody has made a big profit? I guess insider trading laws don't apply to the government officials

  13. I wasn't referring to you in particular with the "mommy & daddy" comment. We've talked in the past about what you went thru;)

I know you weren't but you didn't leave college because you "had to" it just wasn't the path that was right for you. It would be silly for someone to sit here and bitch about not getting a job as a doctor just because they didn't have a college degree. For some reason it is acceptable to bitch about not getting (insert job here) when they have not put in the effort to meet the requirements for that job (college, experience, ect)

  14. Isn't your wife a nurse or something? Ask her what she thinks of healthcare administration. Our healthcare system is just like our economy, bloated and unrealistic.

Also, are you telling me that you have no moral conflict with our current system. People that are hoping to live another year are getting suck with more debt than even you or I could handle. Ripping off people that are sick and crippled isn't my style. Sorry you disagree, but I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you your moral compass is shit

Actually just this week the government paid for one of our citizens to live another year. Without the health care he just received he would have died in prison just one year before his release date. Now this convicted child molester will be able to reintegrate into society August '10. Thankfully GSXRnurse got the opportunity to be a part of this miracle.

Every system is bloated and ripping people off, tell me one industry that isn't.

Here is your big chance to win this argument.. Tell me one aspect of the Government that is ran well.
