  1. He answered the door and they asked for ID. How fucking hard is it to just produce some identification. How the hell do you turn that situation racial?

Maybe if the cop pulled up in a marked vehicle he would have been more understanding and cooperative.

  2. The problem was that he initially refused to identify himself.

    When he did, they left.

He then FOLLOWED THEM out onto the front lawn, screaming, "This is what happens to black men in America!!" over and over again, after repeated requests and then threats to keep it down or he'd be arrested. One of the cops took out his handcuffs, asked him one more time to stop shouting, and he kept on going, so they arrested him for disorderly conduct. He had actually drawn a crowd because he was being so loud.

Open and shut. The fact that the political overseers in that county/this state dropped the case is laughably permissive.

Obama should keep his damned mouth shut, too. It's not a federal matter; this isn't something the President is authorized to weigh in on.

this is from the CNN link. I wasn't there though

Crowley said he tried to determine whether there was someone else at the home and wanted to ensure Gates' safety.

Gates, however, told him "that I had no idea who I was 'messing' with" and was being so loud that he could not give pertinent information to the department when he was calling in, the sergeant said.

Authorities have said they may release tapes of the officer calling in, in which Gates is heard in the background

Crowley's report said that when he asked to speak with Gates outside, the professor at one point responded, "I'll speak with your mama outside."

  3. They weren't worried about him being the burglar. They had a call that two men were trying to force themselves into the home. Once they verified his identity, they needed to clear the home to make sure he was alone. He said he'd just got home, so it was feasible there were burglars in the home and he didn't know it yet. They had to clear the situation. It's their job.

Why does he have to let them "clear the home"? If there are burglars in his home and he wants them there then it is his business.

  4. Apparel doesn't mean you're a good person. :slap: If I'm in a suit I get the key to the city here.:p:nono: Many criminals dress nice.

I guess there is the chance that there could be very well spoken criminals out there, but usually they are called mortgage brokers or lawyers.

  5. First of all if I break into a house and then the cops knock on the door I definitely would open it and start shooting the shit with them. <-sarcasm

Now I haven't met Professor Gates but I am going to go out on a limb and say that he is probably an ungodly intelligent man and comes across the same. If the cops are so stupid that they cannot tell the difference between a 58 year old Harvard Professor and a burglar then maybe they made the wrong career choice.

  6. So they left a dictatorship(near socialism) where they couldnt succeed to come to a capitalistic US where they could succeed and we are movong towards socialism. So they couldnt succeed under a dictatorship and you want socialism? The wanted to succeed so they went to a place where they could...is this what your saying?

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

  7. well if we're in the business of making statements more accurate.

In 2007, Michigan had the largest number of Iraqi immigrants (36,172, or 35.3 percent), followed by California (16,715, or 16.3 percent). Together, these two states accounted for 51.7 percent (52,887) of all Iraqi-born immigrants. Illinois and Arizona also had large Iraqi-born populations.

    Hardly half a million?

Believe it or not many of the Iraqi immigrants don't openly speak of their heritage because of the negative perceptions of thier race held by many Americans. So you will not get an accurate count no matter how hard you try. Some may go as far as to call themselves Chaldean if they are comfortable around you but many won't. The numbers were not crucial to my argument.

  8. correct but i think his argument is that under their style of government, success (is harder) isn't possible. I think his frame of reference is that under that government, success wouldn't be (as easy) possible, so applying (probability) possibility of success to a different model is like comparing apples to (apples) oranges?

I will make you statment more accurate. Please note the parenthesis

  9. You realize what you said right? You missed the whole point.

They left Iraq to come to a capitalistic country where they could succeed because they couldnt make it in Iraq. Go to Iraq and tell how you think they could do any better under sadam? Oh wait they are cuz we relieved him of his duties.,

Actually I didn't miss the point.

JRMIII said successful people will be successful.

You said tell it to the people living in Iraq.

I said that people from Iraq who wanted to be successful came to Dearborn, MI and are living the good life.

I will make two points here, first who are you to decide what succeed means? Different people have different goals in life, I am sure people in Dubai think you are poor and unhappy.

secondly you said " I dont like illegal immigrants reaping benefits they havent put in to," well why would you like us funding a war to make a bunch of foreigners happy?

From your screen name I bet you are/were in the military and have "seen things" I see them too, especially when I hang out with my cousin that got fucked up in Iraq.

  10. The US is in its current state for the following reasons

    1. MTV

    2. BET

    3. Paris Hilton

    4. Cartels

The first three are self explanatory as they have been the leading factors in getting people to buy stupid shit that they do not need nor can afford.

Number four, because of the deregulation and increased mergers Exxon-Mobile, Bp-Amoco, and the upcoming BP-Shell merger these companies have the ability to act more like a cartel than competitors in a free market

  11. If you're truly successful, you'll find a way to be regardless of any constraints placed on you.

uhhh....:wtf:? Tell that to those that lived under saddam, dont you think they wanted to be succesful? Or did they say"I like living in a hut with no shitter or running water."

If you want to tell the people that lived under Saddam come with InyaAzz and me to Michigan this weekend. I will introduce you to about 1/2 million Iraqi nationals that are doing quite well for themselves.

  12. WOW, I am quite surprised by some of the holier then thou attitudes I have read on here. (yes all 25 pages were read). I don't give two shits what the guy does for a living. If you work at McfukinDonalds and ride a bike you are my brother or sister. This "fuck him cause I got a ticket and suspension so he should too!" Is just plain ignorant.

Yes he is a LEO. Wow. I guess he can't make bad judgments. Alot of the people pissing and moaning on here have some pretty fast bikes, have you never got a handful and grabbed gears quickly only to look down and be surprised at how quickly you hit triple digits? I have. Cut the guys some slack, We all take chances and we all know that there are consequences for them. Will it be different..probably. Is it wrong? NEH. You burger flippers steal a fry or mcnuggett and it might just be a verbal reprimand. But let an outsider walk back there and take some free food and thats stealing...right? C'mon. Instead of throwing stones that make us all look bad, be there to support him!!!

You should change your quote from "resident smartass:D" to "resident I can't put together a well thought out argument:stupid:"

Do you want to cut the other cop some slack on the ticket or the whole "I slipped on ice and am too disabled to work" BWC fraud?

Do you want everyone to make signs saying 147 is ok? Yeah, supporting him might do more harm than good.

  13. Hahahaha I'm buying myself one. Maybe you can ride it.

Watch who you're calling "ole," you're dating a (and I quote) "younger woman," remember?

Well maybe I will buy myself a diamond and maybe you can wear it. Secondly a "younger woman" as defined by Webster younger woman: noun- a woman that is still in high school

  14. The episode where they slammed BET was one of the best. They didn't play it in the US...only in Canada. BET/Sony forced them to not air it. You can find it online..and I believe it was included in the DVD set.

Great stuff. There's also a lot of behind the scenes digs at a former co-creator of the Boondocks, who went to work at BET in that episode.

I saw that episode on cartoon network they must of kept them from rerunning it.

They have slammed BET on several episodes now that I think about it.

  15. I'm officially out. The wife needs me to come down to the Nati to help care for her ill father (tumor in the brain). He's not getting worse but not getting better either and she's just exhausted trying to do everything.

Oh well...this is the way my riding season has gone. Not a single good all day ride.

If you are driving through columbus and get hungry give me a call and I will meet you for some grub

  16. Mr. A...

my new BIL was adopted, too.

my .02 after talking with him about it is as simple as this....

Chromosomes do NOT make a family. Your family is the people who loved you and raised you. whether you share their DNA is irrelevent. My advice would be just to embrace the family you have, and forget about where your dna came from.

Take it or leave it, that's my advice. You seem like a pretty decent guy, best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

What will happen is he will track them down and meet them and then realize that his adopted parents are his true parents and the bond between them will get closer.

I think the whole, you have to know where you came from to realize how far you have come applies here.

as a wise man once said " And at that moment I thought I might just lie there and never get up. I would just sit there and rot there, but then I looked up and saw the moon and got this weird feeling that Brandi was looking up at that same moon. Then I realized I had a home all along, in Silvertown. "

He also said "People like that security guard. They don't really mean what they say. They just got their own issues and what not. Alls I got to do is keep bein' a good person. No matter what, good things'll come my way. Everything's gonna happen for me, just so long as I never have no in my heart."
