  1. The subject of CCTV is far too wide and complex to answer such a generic question.

    Tell me

     - The problem you are having.  (Neighbor giving you problems, worried about burglary)

No problems yet. Just want to be prepared.. Burglary primarily

     - What activities you hope to capture on video  (Thefts, vandalism, pranks)

All the above   IR/NV cameras will be a requirement

     - Are the expected culprits likely to be known to you?  (employee theft = yes.   Burglary = no)

                   dunno.

     - Are you ok with running wiring?  (wireless cameras still need a power wire!)

                   yep, no worries there

     - Is this a temporary or indefinite need?

                  permanent for the house.

  2. If you get one with a battery back up, youre wasting your money to buy a watchdog battery for it. Just go to Wal-Mart and pick up the largest deep cell battery you can find for a fraction of the cost and you'll get more runtime out of it as well. Thats what I did.

  3. Ha ha, your tires are gay.

Blame Brian, aka DesmoBrian, STT Brian, pain in the ass, whatever you want to call him.

FYI, If my prices are out of line, Im fine with you letting me know that and posting a link to show me. Please dont however go posting a link the the absolute lowest price you can find one for or one that is already sold. I tried to be reasonable on the pricing but I may have screwed one up here or there.  Also open to reasonable offers.

  8. go with jcsteel or bigdogsteel and be done with it. Making gongs from AR500 isnt going to save you anymoney by the time your all said and done. Ive looked into getting full ipsc sticker targets made from AR500 sheets.

  10. Im a huge animal lover and it sucks to see this but when you view the video and see what took place (with the dog and police) the officer was in his right to protect himself. It looks as though he tried to get the leash 2x and fired after he was lunged at the second time.  He was in the right IMO but the public and the lawyers will go back to this "Did the police have any reason to approach the man and cuff him in the first place" they will say that if they did not have that right or reason, then the entire set of events would not have happened.

  11. Not sure I agree w this. While many DIY'ers come in and say "I saved you time as I already have it torn down" (before they realize they're in over their head and decide to take it to a pro. (Yes, I realize this doesn't apply to the OP) most mechanics don't see this as a time saver. Since we weren't the ones who took it apart, we usually end up spending considerable time figuring out what goes where. Even more helpful is when we are given a "box o bolts" and need to figure out which goes where. That's always fun. Jporter can probably back me up on this.

The point still remains that even if they fubared it, youre getting paid for your time so him taking it apart should not hurt him at all.

  12. You'll be fine. You diagnosed the problem, not created it.

Agreed, Besides, the garage guys wont give a shit. Just go talk with them and tell them the same story and make friends. You actually saved them time that they will end up charging back to the insurance company anyway so they arent going to tell them it was partially broken down or else they risk loosing the claim for breakdown to estimate the repair as well as the repair itself. The garage has no dog in the fight, they just get paid for the work so I wouldnt worry about that.
